Dead player.

go away meanie.

How many shitloads of anime have you watched with mpv so far?

if a is a directory, `mplayer a` does nothing, but `mpv a` plays the media files in a. i prefer mplayer's behavior. any fixes?

Almost nothing because even though I've spent dozens of hours fucking around mpv I still prefer to watch Anime in bed on my phone

>any fixes?
Yeah stop being a retard. I mean did you even read what you just wrote? You're complaining because you launched an application and pointed it at something and instead of doing nothing it actually did something.

So yes the solution is if you want to type random shit in and nothing happen, open a text editor and have a fun.

Some fuckin' people.

I've been trying to configure mpv to use ravu, but it refuses to work and I have no idea what I'm messing up. All the log gives me is

>[ 0.176][v][file] Opening [path]/mpv/shaders/ravu-r4.hook
>[ 0.186][d][file] Stream opened successfully.
>[ 0.186][w][vo/gpu] Pass has no hooked textures (will be ignored)!
>[ 0.186][w][vo/gpu] Pass has no hooked textures (will be ignored)!
>[ 0.186][w][vo/gpu] Pass has no hooked textures (will be ignored)!
>[ 0.186][w][vo/gpu] Pass has no hooked textures (will be ignored)!
>[ 0.186][e][vo/gpu] Error while parsing WHEN!
and then it doesn't do anything or show up in the stats like it should. Tried both the regular and vulkan versions, same shit. Any ideas?

I really miss Yui with that hair color

Is there any way for MPV to have multiple audio outputs like MPD?

commits almost daily

Still dead.

quantity over quality

Been using it for years and notice no changes.

>tfw we get both

How do you prevent the window from being resized depending on the video being played?

Any way to convert video to ascii and write that to a file??

I uh..
I don't think there's any mpv related stuff for that, have you had a look on GitHub? You might be able to find some kind of script

I found one on vlc but couldn't find a way to convert the output back to video again. I decided to install

vo=caca

so is there any recommended configuration for watching anime on thinkpad x220 with no gpu?

explain

does it come with cute anime girls yes or fuckign no cunts

Why not do your own comparison? Try different settings.

i thought it had already been done by someone else because thinkpads are really popular here

What is the best simple config file for watching anime. R9 290x + i5

Im sure someone has done it. But someone elses preferred settings might not be yours. Maybe someones config favored blur and you like sharp, or vice versa.

Patches are welcome.

> best simple config
No config at all.

Look into autofit and geometry.

>opening directories is bad
How about you just don't open directories?

Maybe he's doing mpv * and he doesn't want it to be recursive.

mpv ./*.mkv
If you aren't using the superior container then mpv ./*.{mp4,m4a,avi,}
I'd also put it in shell aliases for easier use.

Use madVR, NGU-AA is rock solid.

>expecting a wildcard character not to open everything it can

>using mpv to watch kino
>press enter
>program exits
explain this

Well yeah, but it makes the behavior different between mpv and mplayer. I don't really care, but what he's saying is legitimate.

senpais i'm thinking of getting mpv is there a screenshot plugin for it, and is there a way to get screenshots to not include subitiles that would be awesome ^_^

define a custom function that
>turns off subs
>takes ss
>turns on subs

Ideuts.
Press S, not s.

i assume it will do that so quick you dont notice it happening? could you explain how to do that desu or will i be able to work it out easily jus by reading through the wiki?

I don't have a computer with me right now so I don't know if
is correct, but all you have to do is bunch three keystrokes together- v -> s -> v

okay i saw on the scripts there is one called blackbox it's written in js how to i add this to mpv?

Are you using a really old version?

Does it convert HDR to SDR automatically?

I have been downloading HDR content to my PC and the colors don't look washed out like they should, because my monitor is not HDR.

It's an sRGB IPS panel if that matters.

No, ideuuut
shift+s is S, not s
read the manual you esl

user i think is a good idea put the info of where is the conf archive and how to use it, because there no experts on GNU/Linux who dont know where are some directories

refer to this:
To setup your local mpv configuration files, navigate to your home directory. From there you’ll have to go to the hidden folder .config. Create a directory called mpv (if it doesn’t exist) and enter it:

mkdir ~/.config/mpv && cd ~/.config/mpv

Now we’ll have to create two files. The first being mpv.conf which controls mpv’s settings and the second being input.conf which controls mpv’s key bindings:

touch ~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf ~/.config/mpv/input.conf

Latest version in debian stable

I know that you nigger I just can't verify that right now and that's why I'm giving him an alternative.
link?

oh it's backbox sorry desu, where do i put the script i'm on windows github.com/SteveJobzniak/mpv-tools

How good/bad is this config for MPV? Only using it to watch anime with. (Ryzen 1700x, rx 580).

Download the entire thing and put it in the scripts folder
I don't have any experience with wangblows but it's either the mpv folder in documents, or the install location or appdata\local

It's shit. Read the manual.

Trying to build mpv, using the script, ran
sudo ./rebuild -j8
Gives me this every damn time.

profile=gpu-hq
scale=ewa_lanczossharp
cscale=ewa_lanczossoft
volume-max=80

>the anime avatar cartel took over mpv
What went so wrong?

What version is that? As far as I can tell mpv stopped exiting on enter over 3 years ago.

Thanks.

profile=gpu-hq
scale=ewa-lanczossharp
cscale=ewa-lanczossoft
scale-antiring=0.7
cscale-antiring=0.7
volume-max=80
opengl-shader="C:\Program Files\mpv\shaders\adaptive-sharpen.glsl"
FTFY
profile =opengl-hq is now gpu-hq. Pic is whats included in both.

volume-max must be a value between 100-1000. do volume=80 if you want it to start at that volume

>scale-anti-ring
> Note that this doesn't affect the special filters bilinear and bicubic_fast, nor does it affect any polar (EWA) scalers.

It's always been that way.

Thanks, I'm relatively new to MPV so feel free to berate. I like it more than the alternatives though.

0.23.0-2
packages.debian.org/stretch/mpv

wm4 is the only non-weeb mpv dev.

>plebian

Explain this

>0.23.0-2

stability>muh recent version

isn't this script change my screen resolution when I use it?
github.com/kevinlekiller/mpv_scripts/tree/master/autospeedwin

I'm testing it and it doesn't do shit. what am I doing wrong?

stability is placebo

But I can't use neural network shaders on my favorite anime with ancient versions of mpv.

that's awful, user.I warch anime in bed with my monitor on my left

Don't listen to this cunt It's just a warning, probably complaining some shitty arguments in your config file. U should notice in the frames if is used, anyway.

>explain
Read the fucking OP.
mpv.io/manual/master/#video-output-drivers-caca

Mostly, this.

Hmm

Is streamlink or youtube-dl the best program to use to send a stream to mpv?

can this program play magnets/torrents like popcorntime?

libcaca

I believe streamlink is faster for HLS streams

Why ravu compute only does 2 steps instead of 4?

I can't get ravu to work with these settings, the logs says it's loading but it doesn't do anything. Using the latest stable from a few days ago, tried a few different versions of the shader too but nothing changed.
Similar problem to

use gpu-api=d3d11
make sure the video is not 1080p

Try using these older ones I got a.uguu.se/7uI7rEgfhmjH_ravu.7z

glsl-shaders=~~/shaders/ravu/vulkan/gather/ravu-r3.hook

Using this version fixed it. Not sure what's wrong with the newer one, but thanks a bunch.

I installed the new one just now, but it works for me, you probably wasn't using the vulkan versions? odd.

bump

disappointment of the year

>this is how my ancestors got off

ctlr+s with vulkan+DR for when?

where on there does it say anything about resolution?

Vulkan vs d3d11?
My GPU is novideo.

What gpu and cpu do you have?

wats the highest config

Will mpv work well with Intel graphics? It says on the github page that you can't have a crappy cpu or gpu

mpv should work with modern Intel graphics, but you might not be able to switch on profile=gpu-hq

mpv actually has a bunch of shitty fallbacks for bad GPUs, like vo=xv on Linux, but they're not really supported.

how to watch animus on cruchyroll without flash player ?
when i do:
mpv "crunchyroll.com/food-wars-shokugeki-no-soma/episode-1-challenging-the-elite-ten-749165"
it aborts the video after few seconds
same for
youtube-dl $LINK and
wget $(youtube-dl -g $LINK)

HorribleSubs

$ mpv --profile=help | grep "gpu-hq" | wc -l
0

wtf?????
