Can Tor really be trusted?

can Tor really be trusted?

can Sup Forums really be trusted?

Moreso than verizon

no

nope. might as well just stop using the internet

Tor cannot be fully trusted if you don't know networking like your backpocket

depends how you define trustworthy desu.

Nothing can be trusted.

1. about:config -> javascript.enabled false
2. tails
3. Using someone elses wifi
4. remove hdd
5. old laptop from 2008

Would that be safe enough?

>can Tor really be trusted?
Can anything?

Tails uses systemd which calls home to Google.

Don't forget coreboot.

There are people down in the dark web who would eat you alive.

alternative to tails?

heads

look it up

It's a bios replacement

Well he seems to be the best we've got

What about i2p?
Is it trustworthy

I can already tell you don't know how i2p works.

i dont

I wanted to believe this was a joke because it seemed too good to be true.

>Its real tho

I don't understand tor
You are A and website is E
Connection is
A to B to C to D to E
If B C and D are LE, you are busted. How is that safe?

If any one of them aren't law enforcement your traffic is still secure. Since nodes are selected randomly (with some performance algorithms), LE would need to compromise 90% of nodes to have a reasonable chance of deanonymising a specific individual.
Considering they probably own close to 3-5% of nodes, and this is split between different country's law enforcement which makes coordination difficult, the chances are just way too low.

China has yet to break tor. NSA has yet to break tor. There's been some 'theoretical' attacks on it by researchers but they never leave testing labs because they don't work in practice.

How many nodes are in-between?
Even if LE has a .1% chance of being all B C and D, and A connects to tor 1000 times a year, that still means one of his sessions could be compromised. That's a giant weak spot.

Do not trust tor it has been compromised various times

Correct. What are the alternatives?

They've busted some pedophiles using tor so I think it's not without risk.
