If you want help:
>State the budget & CURRENCY for your build
>List your uses, e.g. Gaming, Video Editing, VM Work
>For monitors, include purpose (e.g., photoediting, gaming) and graphics card pairing (if applicable)

CPUs:
>NO i5 7500/7600K or i7 7700/K. THEY ARE DEFUNCT AND SUPERSEDED BY COFFEE LAKE
>G4560/G4600 for non-gaming (light tasks) or bare minimum gaming builds with a dedicated graphics card
>R3 1200 - Budget builds (best with OC + fast RAM)
>R5 1600 / i5 8400 - Great gaming (especially the i5 8400) or multithreaded use CPUs (especially the R5 1600)
>R7 / Used Xeon / Threadripper / i7 - Heavy Multi-Tasking / VM Work / Mixed use

RAM:
>Current CPUs benefit from high speed RAM; 3000-3200 MHz is ideal
>Before buying RAM for Ryzen, check your Mobo's QVL or look for user reports

Graphics cards:
>Consider Vega 56 for a Freesync monitor
>Crypto-Currency miners have driven GPU prices up (particularly Radeon)
1080p
>GTX 1050Ti and 3GB 1060 are the only reasonably priced cards; 6GB 1060 or 4GB 580 if you want to overpay a little
>GTX 1070 if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
1440p
>GTX 1070/Ti and 1080 are standard choices; currently overpriced
>GTX 1080Ti if you're looking for very high (100+) framerates and you have a CPU and monitor to match
2160p (4K)
>GTX 1080Ti

General:
>PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING
>A 240GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor

Reposting from the prev thread (literally the final one before it jumped ship):

Stupid general question, but let me just punch this out first:
>4690 cpu (quad core)
>8 gigs ram
>1080 (not the TI version)
>100 gig (roughly) SSD
>Shitty lil BenQ monitor thats at 1920*1080 and 60hz.

Given this, what should I do in the following situation:
>I wanted to jump to 4k gaming with a new monitor (the asus rog swift, just to throw it out there)
>I wanted to stream (if possible, without using a separate tower)
>I didn't want to have to upgrade the 1080 to a 1080TI or titan.

Sorry if it's pretty general. Looking at the general stuff in the OP (240g SSD), might need to rebuild from the ground up, only bringing along the 1080.

Really ?
Explain.

1080p 60hz budget build.
OC'd 1200, 1060 3gb, 16gb ram.
Why the fuck is ram so expensive / is 16gb necessary? Playing PUBG, Witcher, Overwatch

You can bring over the 1080, the SSD and maybe the PSU. Bin everything else.

Also (just wanna confirm this assumption I have) - bagging the 1080 for a 1080TI wouldn't really get me far compared to other improvements? Eg a better processor, more ram etc.

gamersnexus.net/guides/3009-amd-r7-1700-vs-i7-7700k-144hz-gaming

Depends on what games you are going to play on your 1080ti

Should I pull the trigger on this? I priced it out myself and can only come in $30-50 under and cutting large corners on quality. Would not be paying any sales tax on it

I am getting a new 4K Monitor and need help deciding.

What I'm looking for:
27" (I'd go higher but it gets very pricey at 32"+)
IPS
Brightness of at least 300 cd/m2

I've pretty much narrowed my choices down to:

us.hardware.info/comparisontable/3155160/geen_username/monitors-4k-comp-table

I was going to get the ThinkVision X1, but then I realized it consumes a whopping 110W compared to the others' 30-40W. I'm wondering if that's because of the additional features it offers like sound, and if I turned it off in my playback options, it wouldn't consume that much?

The 27UD58 seems like the solid budget option, but one think the comparison doesn't show is that the color gamut is NTSC 72%, whereas the others boast sRGB over 99%. I'm not sure how big of a difference this makes, so it'd be good to hear opinions.

I use a NVidia Card, so Freesync is worthless to me. Gaming isn't exactly something you should worry about for a 4K monitor anyway, at least not for me.

Basically I'm interested in the best possible picture quality, but if it means a higher power bill, then I'm not so sure.

I played witcher and overwatch on 8gb and it was fine in them as well as anything else i played, not sure about pubg.

acer.com/ac/en/US/content/model/UM.UE2AA.A01
Can this monitor do 1440p?

i just built this today, it was my first time what do y'all think?

>Bin everything else.
Sell everything else, that shit isn't so worthless that you should bin it.

>Full HD (1920 x 1080)
No

Looking good damn, 5 1600?

What case?

3770k @ 4.8ghz and a 1080 FTW2

Nice bottleneck.

>7 fans
>RGB
What the fuck?

>>G4560/G4600

How's the bottleneck?

Better than the 8350 I had before it at least.

There’s actually 10 fans in that picture including the CPU cooler. Also, only the GPU is RGB.. not sure what you’re seeing.

is the GTX 1080 really overkill for 1080p?

>Also, only the GPU is RGB
Yeah. That big ass LED strip at the bottom sure isn't RGB.

Really not bad. All I have to compare it to was an FX-8350.

I gained 100 frames in most games. GPU runs about 10 degrees hotter now too, I figured that meant it’s doing more work now?

May not be a 7700k, but it benches pretty close to a stock clock one. Also can run my ram at 2400mhz finally as the 8350 is limited to 2133. Ivy Bridge was the first to be able to do 2400 IIRC.

Yes.

Lmao how are you going to tell me what I put in my own system. That bottom LED strip only lights up red, not rgb. I have no reason to lie, just as you have no reason to be so sure about random things in the internet you could be completely wrong about.

Nah. You can put whatever the fuck you want in your system and I can call it ugly and stupid if it is.

yes sir

Comes down to refresh rate. Most people will say a 1070 is max for 1080p but if you’re running 144hz and above I would do a 1080. 220hz and above 100% 1080

Ignore him. Sup Forums is severely autistic and paranoid about muh rgb because they have to pretend to be contrarians for the sake of it

why would anyone buy the 8700K when the 8700 exists for $90 less?

Except you didn’t call it ugly and stupid, you said it was rgb which it isn’t, and now you just look like an idiot. But keep going, I’m enjoying this.

Still having 10 fans is fucking retarded.

Having good ventilation isn’t for everyone. Enjoy your house fire

>Post his shit ass build on Sup Forums
>Some people shit on him
>Gets butthurt and defensive
Look. If you are baiting for karma, pcmasterrace on reddit is the perfect place for idiots like you so that tons of redditors can give you upboats for having an ugly ass build.

Oh fuck. I guess everyone who doesn't have 10 fans in their case right now is going to suffer a housefire. RIP 99.9999% of people who owns a PC.

the mobo will be shit
the PSU will be shit
the case will be shit
I bought a pre-built years ago, worst mistake I've made.

I realize this is shit build. But I built it 4ish years ago. The newest part is the video card that I got a couple months ago. There's also a second fan that I added that runs like shit but I doubt that's the issue.

Lately it freezes when I'm playing games and multitasking (browsing the internet+drawing in clip studio paint).

Any ideas?

Get an SSD you lazy piece of shit.

I baited you into another post. LOL

check the drive health w/ crystaldisk

>>>/reddit/

next s340 elite

How do I make sense of these numbers?

Your drive is fine. Might be an issue with your RAM then. Run memtest.

can get a console for the price of a GPU. is pc gaming even worth it now?

No.

Just ordered my whole build I'm so excited. Also crippling terror of fucking it up or parts being DOA. My first desktop in 8 years I've saved for this for ages

I've posted more than once but have received criticism both times and have adjusted for. I also have a 1070ti in the nvidia store, other than that am I ready to go?

let me see your build. my computer that is similar age just shit the bed again and I'm done resuscitating it.

Why are people suggesting there's a bottleneck?
I'm using [email protected] + GTX 980Ti and I'm not experiencing any bottlenecking at all.

If It's not my ram, what should I check next?

Your CPU for virus and shit

Speccy as proof

spend more on psu
downgrade to 8400
get a better mobo
buy a different case

thats what I would do but it looks alright.

You might want to check if the 1070ti still supports DVI-D or not.

Nice timings on your RAM, but that's a pretty low speed. Go 2400, will help with 144hz

He can't go 2400 on DDR3 platform.

is a founders edition card a no no?

Need intake fans and a better cooler (cryorig m9i or h7 preferably).

Other than that, good stuff.

Huge no no unless you like having a lawnmower in your room.

generally yes

>tp-link
EWWWWWWWWWWWWW

i do wear headphones

Then go ahead.

>be budgetfag
>got 4gb 1 stick of ram in my build, planned to add another later so I could add a SSD right away
>go today to check if the stick went up in price
>some asshat on amazon is selling the same 4gb for nearly $100 when I paid $44 bucks for it less than a month ago
>only 1 in stock
>newegg has it 11 dollars higher at $55
>corsair has it for $65
>both will probably be gone by the time I get paid on friday

>the perfect mATX case doesn't exi...

>au.pcpartpicker.com/user/JoshCa/saved/KFHr7P
Its not price/performance, but I got the gpu, mobo and cpu for very good prices (by aus standards). I got the x370 and kraken as I plan to overclock and upgrade up the ryzen gens

Anyone here has experience with using a curved monitor along with a flat one? How practical is it?

What would you choose?

depends on the size and how sharp the curve is. I really like 29" ultrawide with a slight curve but deep curves are a negative for me. Also it depends on your usage - for gaming a screen that large means you don't necessarily have everything in your fov. For work they are a dream though

I thought DVI was better than HDMI?

pretty nice build

Thanks, but the question was more about a dual monitor setup, with one screen on the side being flat.

Thanks :) I can't wait to be off my 13" laptop

My 1080ti for example only has HDMI and DP ports

>puny 120mm intake
shit/10 here is a much better matx

>irrelevant optical drive housings taking up space
>cramped interior
>no room for 240mm radiators
Not even comparible
>puny 120mm intake
120x2 intake*, coupled with a top 120x2 exhaust on top of the 120 rear exhaust

i ordered 2 corsair fans they coming soon, i will get an aftermarket cooler too and i was thinking the exact one you recommended.

First time with a non pre built here.

Been on this screen for about 10 minutes after reinstalling windows (everything except the hard drive is new). Should I worry, or go to bed?

What?

Looking for a build that's around $700 USD, gonna use it for programming mostly, probably running some virtual machines too.

...

>exhaust on top
>no dust filter
absolutely disgusting

Keep waiting. You installed windows on a HDD right?

Go to bed, worry if it's like that in the morning.

Yeah installed it on my old HDd, which had the free upgrade of windows 10.

I think it should be fine.

>single fan

How to organize psu cables pls

>exhaust on top
and the back**
Dunno hombre, I'd prefer to make a dust filter to suit a superior layout than be stuck with a shit layout but have a prefitted filter.

Looking to get a new monitor.

Is oled worth it?

>make a dust filter
what do you use? fly wire is too big catches no dust, stockings are too small chokes airflow

>stockings are too small chokes airflow
Disagree. Stretch them and they'll flow as much as a factory filter that isn't just perforated steel.

pcpartpicker.com/list/386r9W
I have a 1440 monitor. I play Runescape, indie games, shitpost and watch porn

>that RAM
holy fucking retard

how do you hold them stretched? using a bracket and screwing always seems to rip

Huh? That's completely false. I'm on Ivy Bridge with 2400 DDR3

How about not being a nigger and buying some magnetic filters?
