Cemu emulation takes about 13 gb on my pc with Zelda. That said, I rarely exceed 8 on any other workload. I like having 16 because it allows me to not bother worrying about it, plus I got it when prices weren't that bad. Worst case scenario, I'll keep using it for years to come, and that "8gb is enough" meme is true now but it will tumble over in time. By then, we will be in ddr5, which implies a new mobo, which implies a new CPU because why the fuck not. At that point, you basically have a decent second PC, since asides from the PSU, case and maybe GPU, you will have enough components to frankenstein a second pc for a server, a rig for a mate in a pinch or when they stay over, all that good stuff.

I know this isn't what you were looking for in terms of an answer, but it's the bright side I found after falling for the meme.

Do that too. You can pause/snapshot the virtual machine, keeping the tabs which is very convenient when you update and restart your host.

I got 16GB of RAM, I never used that much on windows, but on Linux I'm often up near 15 when I'm virtualising and doing other things at the same time so it's useful. desu, I wish I'd got more as it's a fucking pain when I'm near 16GB and can't kill any VM's I'm using.
