>be me, go on Sup Forums, read about the merits of GNU/Linux >install Manjaro on my ThinkPad because Arch was too complicated and no one likes Ubuntu >some time later... >need to edit a .pdf document on GNU/Linux >default .pdf editor on Manjaro can't do that >need to find a different program to do that >after a long search, and a long process of figuring out how to install from AUR, I install 'masterpdfeditor' >it isn't very intuitive, but it works >some time later... >need to edit a .pdf form document "created in Adobe LiveCycle, which must be saved to your computer and opened with Adobe Reader 9 or later" >open it in 'masterpdfeditor', can confirm, it just shows up as a bunch of Hindi symbols >search for "adobe reader linux" >find out Adobe dropped support for GNU/Linux software some time ago >after a long search, find out there's a compatible program called 'acroread'; I install it >it opens the document fine, but scrolling is glitchy (!), many form boxes aren't editable (!!), and it crashed when I tried to edit a box (!!!) >there must be a better way >install Wine, download the .exe from Adobe website >I run the installer, it creates the right folders, but no files inside them >search for the error online, other people report same problem, "yeah, the installer is broken" >keep searching >read about 'playonlinux'... this looks promising >install 'playonlinux', install Adobe Reader through its GUI >feels good, everything seems to be working >critical error, installation fails after a new version of Wine and Adobe Reader has been downloaded >retry installation two more times, same error >search for error online, no results >this whole process has taken 3 hours so far >enough is enough >give up, log into Windows box, install Adobe Reader, download document >everything works immediately >mfw I fell for the GNU/Linux meme
Why is the current state of GNU/Linux software so shit, Sup Forums?

After reading your account I can confirm that the issue is between the chair and the keyboard.
Carter Thompson
This. Also : > Arch was too complicated
Hang yourself
Jason Jenkins
That's what you get for basing your decisions on what everyone tells you to use instead of doing your own research
Connor Cook
What do you suggest I do to complete my task, then?
I did a LOT of research, and still couldn't figure out how to properly edit this .pdf form document on GNU/Linux.
Andrew Cooper
There's a web app for that
Alexander Allen
What web app?

Don't let people send drmed docs for you to work with, brainlet
Michael Martin
I don't control other people, brainlet. I need to work with the doc I have.

>mfw people are too retarded to use linux
Jaxon Myers
Never go full linux. I always dual boot because of linux inherent bullshit.
Daniel Scott
Ubuntu. The most justwerx of Linux distros with a community that will handhold beginners instead of laughing autistically at them.
The purpose of Arch and its bastard children is to make people of mediocre intelligence feel smart. Nobody uses it to do anything productive.
Henry King
>Linux is bad because I can't figure out how to edit a PDF on it. >better make a thread saying it sucks
Thomas Cooper

>Nobody uses it to do anything productive. well, I could be productive if I had something to do checkmate canonitards ha ha ha ha

Never install Linux to bare metal unless you are already highly experienced. Ignore teentards who say you should. Adults know better.
Ignore all posts about the merits of Linux. It's a server OS and "the botnet" will never, ever, ever care what you do because nothing you will ever, ever, ever do is of interest to the NSA/KGB/Jewluminati.
If you don't instantly know why you need Linux, you don't need it. If you cannot already do clean installs and configuration of every OS from DOS to Windows 10, Linux is a distracting waste of time.
If you need to run CAD/CAM or other professional soft to make money, that requires Windows tough shit too bad so sad run Windows, which you should know how to harden in your sleep before fucking with Toynix. Linux is not for desktops, it's a spectacularly good server OS. Is your desktop a fucking server?
I enjoy Linux and am productive with it but I've been using it since 1999 and when I require Windows soft I fire up a VM, for which Linux makes a fine host. I don't gayme. CAD/CAM runs fine in a VM if your PC isn't garbage.

We didn't need a wall of text to know you're a retard. We got that when you posted the frog.

Linux is shit only in graphic interfaces, meanwhile real sysadmins work with Linux-kernel + Core-utils + SSH. This why we have all gentoo and "no thumbnails in file picker " threads 24/7
Adrian Ramirez
you now realize that this board just wants to be different than 'muh normies'

You are using it for the wrong purpose. If you decided to use GNU/Linux, use Tex and Ghostscript. If you want to use PDF anyway, just use Windows
Juan Taylor
>install Manjaro on my ThinkPad because Arch was too complicated and no one likes Ubuntu It's a good thing you said it early so I didn't have to read more
