buy kobo desu

Don't buy a swindle. It's has universal backdoors, which allow to delete your books remotely.

Don't sell them where I live.

Jailbreak? I'm planning to use Calibre anyway, won't be buying off Amazon.

i have one of the old kindles it's pretty decent despite the low resolution if you jailbreak and get koreader you'll be able to use it for all the common file types. Also i think it natively supports .cbz for reading mango if you get domdomsoft manga downloader it lets you download in that format and also trim the white border to fit the screen better

Amazon needs to make a new updated DX, I'm sick of the tiny displays on 7" or smaller readers. We need a proper one that can display an eMag to scale, same as a real magazine would be.

"Modern" tablets, all of them, regardless of display tech, suck fucking ass big time and it's really disappointing that's the case even to this day.

Paperwhite if you can afford it. Had mine for 2 years. Bought one for my flatmate for christmass.
Battery is crazy good, ux is crazy good.

Best tech purchase of the last 5 years, at least for me it was. If you even remotely like reading it's a godsend.

On which one to buy.
Is syncing across devices (smartphones, tablets) your top priority, even with books you pirated? Get a kindle. Whispersync works rather well and it's useful if you want to read a chapter while you don't have access to the e-reader. Just install the kindle app on your phone and you're set.

Is using .epub books mandatory for you or you just want better support for comics and such? Get a kobo.

but botnet

I have a paperwhite. It's very good. I have never tried another e-reader, so I can't speak to how it compares.

Hope this helps.

Why are there so many e-reader threads.
