VR thread

just got a Vive, supersampled up like crazy on my 1080 ti, shit was so cash

Thank God I returned that piece of shit WMR Samsung Odyssey, the screen is nice and all but marginally better for a much larger performance hit and long list of shitty windows software incompatibilities. Build quality is fucking trash as well

What game did you play first?

porn

Honey select, then VRchat, raw data, sairento vr, super hot etc.

I'm getting fo4 next

Also VRchat was fucking unplayable on the Odyssey. Steamvr in general runs like absolute shit.

>no waifu sex simulator

Get Rec Room (it's free, try paintball), HordeZ, Arizona Sunshine, Vanishing Realms, and Climbey. You can thank me later.

>Pentile

My Oculus is on the way. I'm poor and a stupid old man. I have a GTX770. How bad is it going to perform? I'm hoping to at least be able to play older games modded for VR and maybe some low end indie stuff.

>Vanishing Realms

Any other half decent dungeon crawlers?

MAH DIK

is a 1080 (not ti) enough to run VR decently?

Absolutely

Source: plastic surgery. Do you think she was born that way? Half of her chin and nose are on the floor of some Korean plastic surgeon's office.

pretty bad, but itll be okay.

>he can't read

Used to work as a VIVE tech support agent, ask me anything

I have 1080ti, should I get an oculus or vive?

Dd

How fucked am I with a GTX950?

Vive will not work

>supersampled up like crazy
what do you mean by this?

Also check out lasertag in Rec Room.
Arizona Sunshine is trash, get Doom VFR instead.
A Chair in a Room, Nevrosa, Accounting, Gorn are absolute must haves

VR headsets have to apply a warp to the rendered image to counteract the effect of the lens, pic related. To make up for the quality loss of the warp, they render images at a resolution greater than the one the headset can actually support. If you want higher quality "graphics" in VR, you can increase the render target at the cost of performance. Good GPUs can go up to 2x or more.

How can I "supersample up like crazy"?
I have a Vive and a 1080. Is this in nvidia settings?

It's in the SteamVR settings, you'll find it somewhere as a slider.

i don't give a shit, cute is cute

nature sucks

Lots of SteamVR and Oculus games run fine on the Odyssey. Lots do run like shit, though. SteamVR support is still beta, so hopefully it'll improve.

Rather than performance, my main issue is the limited controller tracking region. Makes a lot of games that are otherwise playable completely unplayable. You bring up VRchat, I have no performance issues on that (when people aren't importing 20 billion polygon models that aren't meant for game use), but the controller tracking kills it. I can't even dab properly.

I mostly got it because there's less competition in the Windows store for VR titles. Development in Unity is super easy and I'm hoping to get a game on there by next month.

Great for porn, though.

Did anyone else just get the urge to marry her and then pump her full of kids? Cause I just did.

HNNNNNNNNNNNNNG

>we now have the technology to make people even cuter
>somehow this is a bad thing

fucking hulk smash

Some friends of mine went to SK for some athletics competition, told me every girl looks like she's had something done, it's not a meme just because of the idols.
At first you go muh dik but it gets really boring and uncanny valley after a while

I'm tempted with the Oculus Rift with the hand controllers. Vive is like double the money, it can't be that much better can it?

Ok thanks. Tried messing around with it a bit but did not really see a difference...

Been thinking a lot about buying a VR headset lately, i got a 1050 ti and an FX 8300, will i have any problems with this build? Also what headset should i get? I was thinking about the Oculus.

Nah, I consider a 1080 as required or say a 1070 at a bare minimum build.
Get the Oculus if you do not have roomscale space available. Get the Vive if you have the room for it (trust me, roomscale is the way to go so buy the Vive)
You can play all Oculus games on the Vive just fine with the revive hack.

>revive hack
Do you have experience with both? The Vive is double the price of the Oculus, and doesn't allow Kinect body tracking, you have to buy yet more from HTC!

Yes I use the revive hack alot and it works well.
The display hardware is identical on Vive and Rift. The vive's lighthouse trackingsystem is superior and supports roomscale VR which the Oculus really doesn't and that makes the vive a lot better for roomscale. Oculus is more for sitting/standing VR.
With the Vive you also get to play vive exclusive titles like DoomVFR and Fallout VR.
And yes VR is fucking expensive and you need a lot of room for a great experience.
Only go into it if you have leftover money for a good setup (and a permanently big open space for vr. I got a dedicted room for vr and a dedicated pc)

Second gen fucking when?

Doesn't seem like the newer headsets out are any better than vice/oculus.

Too bad she's sucking Chad's cock already.

I played it two years ago and the only good games that weren't gimmicky 3d IT class projects were Alien: Isolation and Euro Truck Sim 2, the latter just barely as I had problems seeing the signs. In general I didn't feel like any of the games I played were any way better in VR.

How's the POV porn though?

plastic doesn't change genetics, your kids will end up ugly

I had a 780 ti over clocked like crazy and it was barley adequate. A 770 will suck balls. At least get a GTX 1060 6b. I have a 1080 ti and it is a beast for VR.

For full room scale the vice is the best.

Well what do you expect from "second gen"?
Resolution and fov might improve a bit that thats all.
It will still be very expensive, will still require a super beefy pc and a lot of open space.
Don't see wireless coming anytime soon and if it will come it will have its downsides.
Biggest potential is inside out tracking but it just can't compete against valves lighthouse yet.
Proper, non broken, AAA Vr titles need to be made, thats the biggest workplace now. The hardware will stay more or less the same the next years and is less important than the software.

I have a cheap smartphone VR thing and I haven't been sure what to really do with it. The Google introductory thing was really neat, but beyond that wtf can I do? Any cool app recommendations?

How shitty would you say my VR experience would be with a 1070?

Oh hey, I remember your previous thread. Glad you got yourself a good VR setup!

This isn't a discussion on vr its just gaymer faggots flicking they're clits over a gimmick

HTC Vive has the option for wireless I thought?

LTT reviewed a chinese one with "8K" screen and wider FOV.

It's coming.

It would be fine. The 1070 would run almost any game at 90fps flawlessly.

Inside out tracking for controllers, no more tracking issues. Although you will probably loose tracking if you put your hands behind your back. In 2 years the price for VR will be cut in half, this shit is about to explode. But that's just my 2 cents might be wrong who knows.

>used vive for $450
Should I go for it?

>HTC Vive wireless
Yes, but it costs a lot of money ($350 ?) and you have to mount the dedicated router directly above your head. Then you'll be wired up with and beltpack + a heavier module on the hmd itself and you will get a tiny amount of latency on top.
So it is just not worth the effort at all.

>How shitty would you say my VR experience would be with a 1070?
Perfectly normal but on mid/low settings.
Nvidia VR funhouse requires a 1080 for mid settings (2x 1080's for high). A lot of other games like arizona sunshine are quite hungry too. Some are just extremely unoptimized.
VR is buggy and you just want to exclude your gpu as an error source/bottle neck. Thats the reason behind it.
The more gpu power the better. Definetly had my 1080 on the edge sometimes.

> In 2 years the price for VR will be cut in half
Nah, I really don't think so.
Maybe todays hardware will be half off in two years but if you want higher res oled displays and all, it'll still be very expensive. Valve was able to optimize their tracking cameras a bit so they are cheaper but that woun't make that much of an impact. I'm pretty sure HTC is losing money with every Vive they sell.
The pc hardware will also stay very expensive.

Take a look at other niche markets such as ebook readers, same thing here. Price is really stable for a lot of years now. They improve but the prices stays there.

Don't post pics of me without permission

every time I do that crosseyed trick it fucks my vision up for the next hour.
what the fuck is in your screenshot. I cant even tell the difference between gaymes and real life anymore

>falling for the VR meme gimmick

she looks exactly like my ex

J-julian?

Yes, very well, even with mild supersampling.

From my extensive research into this it seems they're pretty much the same with Vive being negligibly better hmd hardware wise.
The Vive has slightly better room scale with more accurate tracking but it's also more expensive.
Oculus has better comfort and a more refined design. They're also more likely to be developed for as it's been mentioned in mainstream media more. You could say they're trying to copy Apple by having a sleek marketable design, but just like Apple they want a closed/controlled ecosystem and are much more likely to resort to shady shit with their store and hardware. On the other hand, Valve can be quite ADD with their products (even if this is made by HTC it's basically up to Valve and SteamVR to support it). They can go from complete involvement to complete neglect. Oculus' whole business plan is VR and they will be pushing as hard as the FB money allow them to.

how do you download images from pinterest

Yeah, I have to agree with this. High-end VR will most likely remain prohibitively expensive because there is still a lot of room to improve hardware wise. Much like a CPU or GPU product, we will likely see tiers with stuff like Oculus GO being entry-level and the "real" VR HMDs going for 400-500$+ at launch

Why not?

The next major step is the headsets becoming untethered, whether by going wireless or completely standalone. That's as big of a change as having positional tracking.
Then we'll have a baseline for an acceptable VR experience.
There are still a ton of improvements that need to happen after that in all aspects of VR but I think it's doing alright 5 years after the hype.

>completely standalone

Good luck fitting three Titan Vs into the HMD

In 10 years your phone will play anything three of those can. Besides, most VR games run great on a 1070 or even a 1060.

install gentoo in C:\system32

Most VR games are primitive tech demos because the hardware for real games just isn't affordable yet.

That's just wrong.

Extremely.

I'm playing most things on low with my 290

GTX960 is the minimum recommended
Have a puke bag ready

It's embarassing and people are mean

underrated kek

no

>falling for the boring ass poorfag 2D gaming obesety meme

ruru a cute

>one actual game and a list of tech demos and 15minute "experiences"

Great counter-example, fuckwit

the prices are already cut in half just look at-
Connect oculus go to your pc through wifi and were already at a wireless budget vr headset. All the oculus go is missing is proper controllers, and the internal inside-out tracking that next gen is coming with, which probably will be fixed in the coming 2 years.

Pirate fo4, trash fucking game.

How would a 7950 perform for basic shit like VR porn videos and basic non intensive shit?

I have an 7970, Steam VR test video said it wasn't strong enough to run VR.

can't crosseye vr screenshots, left image is on the left side

I have 2 friends with fucking laptops that have a 1060 and they can play VR fine

You should be fine, though i was reading reviews of fallout 4 vr struggling with a 1070, but a 1070 is listed as mininmum requirements for that game

I have a 1060 6GB, what headset do I buy. Cheaper is better, not looking to spend 1000$

>what is honey select

A completely different thing?

No. It's literally a waifu sex simulator. Are you retarded?

Exactly.

Bitch even complains when you didn't play with her for a few days.

>mfw runnin comfy on my 1700 and fury doing mad hotlaps on assetto corsa

Do u need a wheel to actually enjoy racean vr? I m to cheap to buy one

A waifu sex simulator but not the Waifu Sex Simulator.

If you don't have room buy the rift, if you hav enough space for roomscale buy the vive. 1060 is absolute bare minimum though

What?

A Chad with tasteless wrist tattoos at that.

is that chad or gook-chad?
