Is there a better phone than the s8?

Is there a better phone than the s8?

I'm in the middle between this phone and pixel 2.

note8

Too big

I have a few gripes...
>fingerprint reader is on the back - this is less convenient than the S7 which had it on the home button
>battery not removable
>somewhat heavier than stock Android
>they disabled the Android builtin multiuser feature REEEEEEEEEE
>dunno about DAC quality
On that last point, I don't have an S8 but I have an S7 Edge. The US Qualcom version of that has a really shit DAC, and I noticed that my music sounded thin over IEMs, even while riding on the subway with it. Using the "Tube Amp Pro" filter makes it a lot better but not perfect, but then it eats through battery quicker. The world Exynos version of the S7 Edge apparently has a great DAC though, along with more CPU cores and better battery life.

I don't know how much of that stuff I just said about the S7 Edge applies to the S8 as well, but I suspect most of it probably does. Also if the S7 was any indication, your best bet at getting newer versions of Android is to buy a carrier locked version of the phone. My S7 Edge is factory unlocked, so I don't have any carrier bloatware (only Samsung bloatware), but I had to wait about 6 months after carrier phones got Nougat before I could get it. And all S7 users are still on 7.0 to my knowledge. We get security updates, just no 7.1 or 8.0 yet.

I heard the pixel 2 has a good dac and it feels snappier with the more up to date software.

Just no headphone jack which is kind of shitty.

Bixby button is retarded a d do is the fingerprint sensor. Other than that I love this phone. Way better than my s7 edge. It doesn't have those sharp edges and is overall easier to hold.

>lagwiz
get the pixel 2

>spend more
>get less

>googlefag logic

I'm the guy with the S7 Edge. Lack of headphone jack is what took Pixel phones out of the running for me. I have nice IEMs and I'm not about to ditch them for Bluetooth headphones. And I grew up with a GBA SP so I know the pain of headphone dongles and don't want to go back there.

When did you last use Touchwiz? It's been getting way better and less bloated in recent iterations. I still wish they'd ditch it and just ship stock Android, but it's honestly not bad at all.

>Bixby button is retarded
Root it and you can remap that button to do anything you want. Now it's not a Bixby button but a programmable function button.

You're too small, little man.

u get the best camera and guaranteed updates for 3 years to come
and u get them first

>verizon

buy it from google themselves

>literally take the botnet cock up your arse raw without lube

This is why I'm still skeptical about getting the s8, 2-3 years down the line will it start to lag on me and get slow as hell? I know the pixel 2 probably won't.

>Root it and you can remap that button to do anything you want.
And lose 20% battery.
>Now it's not a Bixby button but a programmable function button.
You can do this without rooting. Mine opens the camera.

>botnet

Better than taking the same cock plus the carrier's shoved in there as well.

S5s are still quite usable today.

>implying having a su binary in your system consumes more power
Sure it'll eat more power if you use root to install stupid shit or configure things poorly, but you can root and not do that.

Why would you not use Bixby?
It's great!

I love mine.
You can change themes without root
you can completely change bixby button's functions without root
you can have a system-wide adblock without root
fun things like edge panels and edge glow
oreo in january
good phone
i like it

get this over the pixel 2 for sure. mine got stolen and I miss it so much :(

Why didn't you use a phone tracker and show it to the cops?

Like that would work. The dude probably already did a factory reset.

...

The main problems with the s8 are by the same as they are for any other Samsung. Great hardware, shit software. You can't use an sd card as internal storage. It doesn't like being rooted, either.

The size of a phone and the size of your hand are not related to the impracticability of a tablet sized phone.

You can completely remap the Bixby button with no root using ADB Shell and Button Mapper

Why would it be impractical if you can use it easily. Hit us with that manlet rationalization.

...

razer phone
not even memeing

I have a S8. Both my parents have Note 8s.
I'd honestly rather have a Note 8

4u

Didn't that Mountain dude beat his wife or something?

It's honestly not that big thanks to the edge to edge display.
It's size is in between a phablet and 5.5" phone.

Why?

Pretty much I just feel like the wider screen on the Note 8 fits the height of it more naturally.
I mean, I do prefer the Note 8. But not so much that I feel buyer's remorse.

If I didn't have a new phone and was going to buy one now. I'd choose the note 8 without a second though.

the s8plus of course

I think you're better off with the pixel 2, a year or two down the line the s8 will probably be slow as shit and the pixel 2 will be will be updated and stay up to speed.

V30, Pixel 2 XL, Note8, Mate 10..

>touchwizz

vr is nice and it can draw penises with high precision

I don't get this touchwizz meme, what's wrong with it? I'm an iPhone user wanting to switch to android

>t. disgusting manlet

I'm using it myself and I still don't know what's supposed to be wrong with it. The phone works fine. Maybe the problems arise from trying to root. It's been a difficult process for me. Samsung isn't great for tinkerers. They want to be like android's version of Apple. Great hardware that works fine with the software that came with it. Looks nicely designed, too.

If you can use the note 8 with one hand then you're not human.

Pixel 2 user who's on Verizon here. All the bloat is removable, except for the really tiny (>1MB) things that basically just verify its a Verizon phone.

If your problem is with not having Verizon, stop being poor and get a non-nigger carrier

Manlets who surround themselves with midgets are the worst.

Rich cunt

For the price? No. The iPhone X is a better phone but for the price of the S8 I think it’s the best option.

...

My friends has an S8, seems breddy gud if you don't mind the meme aspect ratio and rounded corners.
It's slippery as fuck though.

>dunno about DAC quality
On the Exynos version the DAC is some kind of Wolfson as usual on Galaxies. Snapdragon probably has a generic integrated one.

My S6 is still pretty fast on newest update. Looks like Samsung got their shit together.

...

I've never had issues with slipping with my S8

>touchwizz

You have been in a coma? Is Grace now, retard.

It's one of the best on the market right now.

>s8
>no stereo sound
>plays music from a bottom speaker
>won't play music from the top one

This is a stupid goddamn blunder. I want two speaker left and right stereo sound when I hold my s8 sideways. The hardware is already in it! Give me the functionality.

>listening to music through phone speakers
you are garbage

Pixel is the best.

No lag
Great battery
Best camera
No bloat
Fast and bloat free updates

What's the battery life like?

...

Google develops android. I have the Pixel2 and it is fast with the latest OS. Can't go wrong with either my nigga.

The hard part is deciding to get the xl or regular size

...

The regular size version has a bad screen to body ratio, so you get a lot more screen on a device that's not really that much bigger with the XL. Going with the XL seems like a no-brainer to me.

Op5t

nope

But what's the deal with XL screen issues from everyone I hear?

The average mentality of an Angroid.
Literally POO

Blue shift that's barely noticeable and the colors were bad compared to the smaller version but it's been fixed and you can change the color saturation and make it look much better.

For this phone. It's comfy af
