New years cleaning

Since it's new years eve i was thinking of tidying up my pictures folder to get nice and comfy for the new year. How do you senpais currently keep all your images neat and tidy so far i have been going for directories with sub directories but it's a bit annoying since sometimes i get images which should fit in more than one directory. How do you all keep your pictures folders tidy?

I take all my other unorganized folders and put them in one main folder, then start fresh. Its not in any way actually organized, but I pretend that it is

I use visipics to eliminate duplicates, then manually sort them into predefined categories based on what I enjoy looking at.
Or rather, that's how I sort my porn. I don't sort sfw images at all.

Use tags mofo

What system uses tags? I haven't found anything native to either windows or any gnu/linux file browser.

please educate me on this i'm using windows. but also have linux on my laptop if thats a better option

Not him, but I made some shitty CLI tag program in C. I'll improve on it as it goes on.

thankyou desu i'll take a look at this later

>Load Visipics website
>Program screenshot was taken on XP

Into the trash it goes.

VisiPics got abandoned back in 2012. It's a decent program but it's kind of slow.

are the tags stored in the image metadata?

>tfw no winfs
>tfw no offline filesystem integrated *booru tag database program
feelsbadman

nah, just a single text file called "tags". easily readable and editable but could easily break when reading when something a bit off
no problem

i may do some rework in the near future, like not needing to create entire list at first, and adding rename/remove features, but for now it's as it is. as just updated it to a new verison

I used to use shotwell, worked well enough.

that's f*cking hot

Many moons ago, I wrote my own tagging software for images. Basically, load up an image, tag it, and save the metadata to a database. Wasn't particularly hard.

But then came the monumental task of tagging thousands of images. Fuck that. So if I ever get off my lazy ass, I'll look into implementing that hydrus solution.

is that a red wojak?

I use my brain.
I have good brain.

Started using Hydrus a few days ago, looks a bit daunting but it's a lot easier than it looks.
Basically just drag+drop images into it, select ones you want to tag, hit F3 and then enter some tags into the box. The help pages on the github are a pretty easy read too.
Best feature IMO is the booru ripper though, since you can choose which tags you want to copy over from the booru etc. The shared tag servers seem cool too but I haven't even been able to fully download the tag database yet...

hydrus sucks
post your maries

When will science fuck a cartoons?

stupid weeb

>Hydrus

The real problem is in tagging itself. I'd love to tag my chans folders but forget about it - it would be days of work just sitting and typing in tags

Name 1 (one) better alternative, in exchange here's 1 marie.

It's bloated as fuck yeah but not hard to use at all after you get used to it. You can definitely tell only 1 guy worked on it though, would probably be a lot better if there were more eyes on it.

Yeah that's the main bit that sucks... Hydrus is meant to have a public tag server which I think should autotag your shit with tags other people put on, but I've been trying for the last week and it just won't finish downloading them for me.

Does this have some kind of file picker so I can search for tags when I'm trying to find a picture to upload?

Don't really think so, I just search tags on Hydrus and copy the path from it straight into the windows file picker box, but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a better way hidden away somewhere

no i need ALL your maries

Sorry, 1 per customer
I'll make an exception this time though and post 1 more marie but I have to cut you off after that

zip them and upload them somewhere

It supports drag and drop. Keep hydrus open next to your browser or discord and you can easily upload. Or ctrl-c to copy the file address

Sorry family you've had enough for tonight

Shit I didn't think of drag+drop, thanks for the tip

Well, i mostly decide what is my primary "concern" about the pic. The Seaport Hime here goes to Seaport Hime folder as long as there aren't other Abyssal girl which case goes to Abyssal Girl folder except Seaport Water Oni because she barely has any fanart.

upload them rn or ill report u to chinese moot

I have a file hierachy sorted by show/lewdness and then character or pairing like this

and also developed a program that reverse image searches my pics on danbooru and adds the tags as iptc data, and then you can rate the images vs eachother and it gives each image an ELO score and it gives each tag a score using microsoft TRUESKILL so I can then search and sort images by how powerful they are

hydrus network sucks and copies all your images into its own dir, there are some issues with how my program works definitely, but hydrus is not the answer at all

>Name 1 (one) better alternative, in exchange here's 1 marie.

cuteGrab

macOS

>hydrus network sucks and copies all your images into its own dir
Eh that doesn't bother me that much, I used to mostly just keep my shit in a single folder mess beforehand anyway.
I can see how that could be a dealbreaker for some people though, especially how it renames files to a hash or some shit and doesn't even keep the original filename anywhere... one of the dumbest things I saw, but personally I can live with it.

That's more a problem with how there's only a single guy working on it though IMO since that's just how he prefers it I guess, if more people joined in with other ideas on how to do things we'd probably have an option for keeping files in place instead, but then again I guess reinventing wheels is a lot more fun.

I wouldn't say that, Hydrus can still do a ton more if you bother to read up on it. eg. one click support for importing whole mangas, page numbers/artist/title etc all included, not even most boorus can handle them that easily (the main problem is knowing what to click... ty bloatware)
The network support seems neat too, I was thinking of trying to set up a DoA server for /e/ so I wouldn't have to tag everything myself, seemed to be a little interest but I'm still not sure about that.

UPLOAD
MARIES

Nope, you've reached your limit user, have a happy Honoka instead

bros i need some help, i download the torrent pack for pururin, the folders have pic related files, for contents artist group etc, ive been looking for a software so i can get the hentai all sorted and ready to go so i can search through and read what i want (e.g. filter out NTR and only show the ones with vanilla/happysex/loli) lik ehow you can on a hentai website such as exhentai or nhentai

>tl:dr downloaded 98gb of hentai and want to be able to search through them like on a hentai mag site and use the existing tag files if i can

i hate u never talk to me again
unless its to give me maries

hai it is desu

Is this Doki Doki or does all weeb shit just look the same?

I'd like to make a program that uploads a picture to google image search, renames the photo based on best guess and possibly moves it to a folder with similar images. Also if other files in the same folder match the pattern of the original filename then those images will be renamed and renamed sequentially.

Might take weeks/months to get through everything but it'd get done.

google isnt friendly with apis at all last time I checked

Did I click on the wrong board

Post full pic faggot

>Since it's new years eve
Here's what you need to do champ. Ditch the chink cartoon collection, pics and all. Start hitting the gym. You'll feel better, develop more confidence. Instead of spending all your spare time with your ass glued to the computer chair get out and socialize. Meet people. Talk to them. Who the fuck knows maybe even find the girl for you. It's new years man, time to make changes.

owo

hydrus copied my stuff in one folder , ONE FOLDER

fuck that, I just want something that can function as a booru with tags because i only dl from Danbooru without screwing over my directory

another person owned by poonetwork

how does good brain deal with multiple copies of images that have been resized by four pixels?

yay! i only have 102,000 images to tag.

>Name 1 (one) better alternative, in exchange here's 1 marie.

why can't we run the same software that Gelbooru, Danbooru etc use, except locally? that seems pretty slick.

inb4 because licensing

jesus christ. i've noticed win10 slows down a bit once you've got more than a couple of thousand files in one folder. i don't want to think what it'd be like with 100,000.

I wanna sniff and lick her butthole

i want her to lick my butthole

Anyone know if Hydrus can stop scraping images for a certain artist after it starts receiving X duplicates? I like to collect artist names and every so often I do a batch scrape. The problem is when I want to download all the new images for an artist Hydrus grabs images I've previously downloaded.

Should have read the thread first.
>without screwing over my directory
Enjoy having your tag database desync whenever you do something as simple as move/renaming files. Maybe not a problem if you only have like 100 images but when you're juggling 100k+ you really don't want your collection to all depend on keeping paths intact.

There's already an option ITT for non-power users anyway so I dunno why you even tried out Hydrus. (let alone why you're crying about it making a simple copy that you can just delete...)

It's not literally one folder, it makes a bunch of different folders inside its image folder with each having like 20 max.

Why would you need to browse your thousands of images in explorer if you have a searchable tag client to look through them anyway?
Once it's ingested you don't have to bother with that explorer shit anymore. Searching for filenames is the only thing I can think of but if you've properly tagged your shit filename searching is redundant.

I tried that a while back but it wasn't really anywhere as responsive as a desktop app, also hacking in video support is a pain too since your only options are to stream or to force a download, and only certain videos can stream so you'd have to setup encoding queues and cronjobs and shit... 2bh I wish I found Hydrus sooner instead of messing with all that crap (the video player in it is a bit dogshit too tho but at least it works as a preview I guess)

>but it's a bit annoying since sometimes i get images which should fit in more than one directory

Use a booru

Please help me with this:

the latter,my friend

actually had this conversation with my mum a few hours ago kek

desu the other day I saw someone mention the run gelbooru apparently its open source

How does Hydrus (or the user) handle comics, albums and collections?

what's a linux/*bsd software to detect duplicate images?

It is not impossible to do. First of all, you won't attach your tags to a system path, but to a file's hash. MD5 for example. Than you would keep track of your tags for each hash and would connect the paths to your hashes.

For folder sync, Dropbox is a good example.

This reminds me of something I wanted to set up. It would be an online database of tag-hash pairs and nothing else. Tags themselves would be simple IDs so that you can have one tag with multiple names (support for different languages, etc). So you would choose a tag set and it would map your local files for you. Could be used for any kind of file like videos, documents, books, etc.

Your mum Knows your porn habits?

know just about making a friend this year desu

no*

Yes, I planned to do something similar, but never had the time to start coding it.

Also, it would need to be able to group hashes as a single entity (think about having the same image in different sizes or a book in different format -> pdf/epub), like google image search does.

Another thing I planned is to use a real search engine to index the data, a RDBMS is painfully slow at counting results, while doing this with ElasticSeach/Apache Solr is really easy, also easier to setup in my opinion.

>Also, it would need to be able to group hashes as a single entity (think about having the same image in different sizes or a book in different format -> pdf/epub)

Good idea. I don't think I'd have the skill to make something really all that scalable but I think the data would be simple enough to port to something better later on if I were to make anything.

Yea I need to tidy up the dumping ground wallpaper folder. It's sitting at 136K images all untagged. Some are named but most are are just Sup Forums file names. I'd love if they could all be tagged with a show_name_# or character_name_#. I've thought about if I can find a program that can figure out what the images are buy googling them or something and going from there but due to the sheer volume of them it's not feasible.

find . ! -empty -type f -exec md5sum {} + | sort | uniq -w32 -dD

>136k unsorted
wew I thought my 4000 or so was a large amount that many is probably impossible to get organised

That's the conclusion I've come to at this point.

I'm just going to write a script to sort them by date saved. Probably by year. At least then it's not all in one folder.

but you can always use hydrus

That doesn't solve my problem plus letting a script scrub 136k images will take for fucking ever.

"Old desktop shit" folder contains 300 other folders named "some shit" "random shit" "new folder(1)" through "new folder(520)" etc. Takes me forever to find anything lol

>not using honey select for posing

Why cuteGrab is better?

No, a script which sorts images by dates will take about 10 seconds per 1000-2000 images.
