This thread is about the appreciation of horology, as well as the micro-engineering and materials engineering that are required to make a fine watch, clock, or other timepiece.
/wt/ needs to work towards being less sexist and more inclusive

Could someone explain to me in what way this watch is not superior to a Rolex?
>more accurate >runs for months after just being exposed to light >go a decade without service >does not need $1000 service every few years >diver good looks >better finishing than an Omega
What advantages does a rolex have over something this nice aside from it saying "rolex" on it while being less accurate and dying if not worn for 48 hours?
Austin Phillips
buy a lady submariner and stfu
Jordan Davis
I literally cannot. Also how can one buy a watch with no red stripe on the windy knob?
Luke Stewart
what's wrong with a lady submariner?
Jordan Richardson

Gavin Brooks
Eat a dick faggot this is a right wing roman catholic board. We preach traditional family values here. Go buy a homos and suck 45 cocks before you turn 30.
Anthony Hughes
nothing at all, that's why i suggested getting one
if you want to drop $150 on a toy to play dress up then you go ahead
Chase Long
yes that is pretty much exactly what i want
I just don't want it to feel like shit or break in a week, do you think it would have the general heft of a real rolex, not look like absolute shit, and keep time for awhile?
Andrew Ross
i'd consider it if seiko wasn't such a meme brand
Isaac Thompson
I bought a citizen diver instead of the seiko. Did I get memed?
Jace Robinson
probably going to keep shit time and feel atrocious. it's meant as a movie prop so its probably going to look the part, but feel terrible
Landon Moore
spending more than $50 on a quartz, you were going to get memed either way
Elijah Edwards
...
Nathan Moore
Just buy a Steinhart milsub and you might be able to look in the mirror without wincing.
Jose Nguyen
no, citizen is a better brand.
Parker Gray
hmmm that sucks
where can i get a replica that does not feel terrible and how much would it cost?
I have felt a good replica before and it felt and looked fine to me, we were talking about it and I asked him if it was real and he said "I don't know you tell me" and handed it to me, I looked it over for 2mins and could not tell. He laughed and said it was fake, this was years ago and I don't know him anymore to ask him where he got it but I want one like that, I know they exist i just cant locate one
Gabriel Bennett
wearing my ST5 today anons. probably my favourite at the moment.
what are you wearing?
Wyatt Mitchell
yeah that is a good option, could i put a fake rolex dial in a steinhart?
Charles Martinez
Citizen I got as a gift years ago. Thoughts?
Nathan Butler
there are some really nice replicas (panerai for example, where its often impossible to tell the difference)
i would say just to buy a steinhart and save for a real rolex
Luke Hughes
mallcore
Jaxson Harris
My Homos
Liam Gomez
t-thanks
Jackson Turner
>nice replicas For replicas you mean fakes isnt it? Like in criminal counterfeiting?
People that wear fake shit are the worst hipocritical brand whores.
Luis Flores
What's your recommendations for a watch in that price range $75-$150?
Gavin Thomas
What kind of watch?
Nolan Turner
Vostok Amphibia
Charles Hughes
You have the ugliest strap I've ever seen. Good job. Put that shitter on black leather or something.
Caleb Collins
I've got a 9$ f91 too so they balance each other out amirite?
Jace Gutierrez
Yes. You should have waited for a blacked out solar Seiko instead.
Adam Johnson
Would there be a way to remove the cyclops? Otherwise I like it
Adam Smith
nice as in well made.
i would never wear one, but some of them are indistinguishable from the real thing.
try to find a pawn shop that will take a panerai these days
Xavier Brown
why would you want to do that? seiko solar cyclops is love, seiko solar psyclops is life.
Carter Sullivan
why would you want to do that? seiko solar cyclops is love, seiko solar cyclops is life
Jeremiah Murphy
is the orange lume or is it just orange paint? no problem sure
Isaiah Lopez
Vintage mid to high end quartz can be had in that range, much better than most modern quartz watches by far. Seiko and Citizen come to mind.
Christopher Thomas
I want a stainless steel digital quartz watch, hit me up with the best ones. No canuck's radiowave seiko pls.
pic vaguely related, it's a shitter.
Kevin Scott
that's interesting never seen that style from timex before
Jason Brown
look into vintage casiotrons, vintage seikos, etc.
Jaxson Butler
Any watch in that price range
Henry Barnes
It's orange paint, it would be quite cool if it were lume though.
Wyatt Sullivan
Any specific models?
Kayden Parker
Pulsar PW3001.
Parker Rodriguez
You will miss the proportions of a nice analog watchface. Go the only right way and get a digital analog watch. I tought they were ugly, 2 years ago, now i love my casio. The watch is just pleasant to the eye, i cant explain why. Also the numbers are way better looking than the line indices of other versions. >autism peaking
Juan Howard
Is AU$285 a good price for a SKX013 (1 month old) with documentation, rubber strap, and strapcode super oyster included? Thinking of treating myself for my birthday. Can be had new for AU$247 from skywatches with jubilee.
Adam Ortiz
Ana-digi offers the worst of both worlds, ridiculously small display and ridiculously small dial. Still, the earlier ana-digi models are alright imo, those ones with a actual crown for the analog face and a seconds hand + all stainless steel case.
Matthew Torres
>No canuck's radiowave seiko pls. Well, unfortunately for you that is objectively the best LCD quartz watch ever made. That being said, if you can live without solar charging, radio atomic sync and electroluminescent backlight then a vintage LCD quartz is probably your best bet. There is a fairly comprehensive database of vintage LCD quartz models available at digitalwatchlibrary.com/
Bentley Phillips
Imagine you can own only a gshock and another watch.
What would it be? My first options would be pic related Tudor BB36, Aquaterra Railmaster coaxial 38mm or Rolex Milgauss.
Lincoln Hughes
>watches are only about the functions they offer Piss off then and use your smartphone, faggot I can easily read the small display and dial, if you cant, then its not for you, gramps.
Colton Johnson
Sorry I insulted your watch user.
Hunter Edwards
>Imagine you can own only a gshock and another watch. > >What would it be? 36mm Rolex Datejust 16200 with the blue sunburst dial, smooth bezel, and oyster bracelet. Basically a way to get something as versatile as a 36mm 114270 Explorer but with all baton indices, non-mercedes hands and a date complication to suit my personal preferences.
Luis Martin
Just bought this, will it be a noticeable upgrade vs my current moto 360?
David Martinez
Really lovely to look at. No bullshit essay like on rolex dials and the proportions are very nice. Cant wait when the xboxhueg watch size trend ends.
Jason Turner
Pretty neat. I prefer no-dates, hence my selection; but that is of course personal preference.
Tyler Gonzalez
Any good sites where I can buy pre owned watches?
Ayden Sanchez
You insulted MUH decision!11!
>tips fedora repeatedly in anger
Jayden Williams
Second choice, Railmaster coaxial 38mm.
Xavier Bell
Third, Milgauss.
A little bolder.
Ethan Mitchell
That is indeed a nice watch fatbrah, the functions are certainly there, but not the look of a "traditional" lcd watch in my honest opinion.
Jaxon Peterson
Yes
Why Do they do that with the secondhand can it be replaced I mean seriously
Henry Watson
You can buy an Air King
Lincoln Adams
Picked up a Kill Hubris lizard camo strap from C&B because it was super cheap for a full NATO. It's pleasingly thick and also very well made. I like how it looks on this thing. It compliments the gaudyness of the gold case with it's own ridiculousness.
Austin Brooks
...
Charles Watson
My friend that watch looks fucking horrible but on a side note what car are you in?
Hudson Morales
how big is that Nomos? Something around 36mm?
Ian Hernandez
>Overpriced ricer steering wheel >Seiko 5 99% chance it's a shitbox old Miata
Noah Martinez
Eh, I like it. Picked it off ebay for half the average sale price. Didn't really like the cheaper military-style 5s at that price point, and the internal bezel is very useful. '99 Miata btw
Robert Ross
Rate
Hunter Martinez
>overpriced ricer steering wheel it came that way from the factory you nerd, the Nardi badged steering wheel was an option.
Hunter Collins
Best Functional watch on earth from a realistic perspective/10
Lincoln Powell
audibly kekked that you were right
Isaac Green
I bet the hardware on the strap isn't even gold.
Jayden Baker
Yeah, 36mm.
John Johnson
So, its a Miata? xD
Ryder Robinson
>goes camping >dives into water. >hit it against hard service >forget to charge it. >watch stops working. Not practical. I never take my watch off. I shower with it, sleep with it, fuck my wife with it.
That watch is a 2nd phone to charge. It makes life more complicated, not less.
Ethan Stewart
No, I got black hardware because there was no rose gold option. I've got gold hardware on my perlon and it doesn't match the case.
Yes, the part about it being a shitbox old Miata was absolutely correct, but the wheel is not aftermarket rice.
Parker Peterson
still ugly as shit dude
Cooper Ross
Is this a meme?
Benjamin Bailey
Can metal bracelets work with dress watches? This one fits like a glove and is thin enough for the watch, but I can't help but see something is off.
Liam Parker
this just got here, shipping took 3 months
cliche?
Jace Hall
>perlon
Austin Parker
default rubber is trash and nato sucks dick, perlon was the only choice
Luke Rivera
Strapcode super oyster is the best choice for an SKX.
James Perez

Nathaniel Hill
Does /wt/ wear bracelets with their waches? I love these I got recently.
