Return it and buy an iPhone X

>tfw getting bullied by amdchads

>still rolling with an i5-3750k
i dunno i'm ok with this

>currently using 3770k
>will soon switch to a 6950x (got the CPU and MB for free) system, as soon as I can afford more fucking RAM
I actually have conflicting feelings about this :S Will the patch really fuck performance this badly? I run Win7. Time will tell, I guess. I'll do some benchmarking soon and depending on the results I might just not even apply it.

RMA it

>I run Win7

there will be no patches for win7

I can't help but feel like this is what Intel and Microshit planned together all along.

Won't upgrade? Have fun on your fucked computers!

If you bought it for single threaded functions then you're still ok. It's Datacentres that seem to be fucked.

How do you know that? Security-wise 7 is still supported.

>bought a 2500k 6 years ago
whose laughing now, upgradefags?

Its okay amd gets the patch too for windows hahahahaha
Win 7 patch is already out, just wont auto update until next tuesday

Your affected too, dipstick

That would be like voluntarily giving market share to competitors.

I canceled the order on a 8700k PC. I'm going to wait this one out even if it takes a year

I have a 5820k. I am wondering if this will affect me at all. I don't use VMs for anything, just do some gaymen and crypto minin.

>bought a used cheap FX9590 and I'm laughing all the way to the bank
Intel deserves this for being absolutely jewish and draconic.

quick rundown?

Intel fucked up and your hardware has its ass sticking out, lubed up and ready.

I got a PC with it a month ago...
You think they'll let me return it?
This is some serious bullshit.

>you bought a FX8300 for cheap a year ago

...

REFUND. NOW.

>windows
>competitors
what?

>saving for a gaming rig
>chose an i5-8400
>now I have to go back and swap it for a ryzen
>AMD might also get impacted by patches if Windows decides to do a sweep fix of all processors just to be safe
>i just wanted to make my babbys first gaming rig
its not fair

Patch is estimated to have a 50% (you read that right) performance hit on anything that makes frequent kernel calls. Even in the best cases, it usually wont be trivial.

...

Sauce? I've been reading max 30% so far.

>this "bug" affects 0% of gaymen

you're good

>a year
You're retarded

by the end of today, amdfanbois will claim it's 90%

tomorrow when it's well known this is also an AMD issue, it'll be down to 5% (at worst)

he got 6 years of maximum use out of his processor anyway, sucks to be one of those fags who upgraded a week ago and now get cucked hard

If you bought anything after Pentium I you're fucked you goober

I have a 2500k. is there a point on updating the firmware?

Bought my 8700k like a month ago, last intel chip i buy.

Would it affect emulation in any way?

why are people making a big deal out of something that will be patched in weeks?

I was given a 3970X, mobo, and RAM a month ago, and made a build around it.

it can't be fixed. without computers, the wild animals will take over the earth. if there is a 30% slowdown in processing power, 30% of the earth might be overrun by wolves, bears, lions, etc.

I've read about 5%. So there's a lot of misinformation on the internet.

>patched
Yes, with 30% performance penalty.

Less than a week actually for Windows. Patch Tuesday is in 5 days.

>Femanon
>I run Win7
We know

UP TO

fuck, it's like talking to toddlers

It's so comfy with the 1920X. SHINTEL BTFO

up to 63%.

Doesn't effect gaming PC's. What's the problem?

Is gaming all you do on your PC?

flawed test

Does this mean I'm going to die more in pubg?

Aye bois it's cool, this guy solved it, we just destroy all servers and use gaymen pcs instead cos they're not gonna be raepd by the Intel hiv.

>effect
A F F E C T

Same. Good thing I kept my old working desktop with the AMD A10-7800 so I can continue to use it for more serious stuff. Looks like my new computer is going to have to be a dedicated gaymer until I get a Ryzen and new motherboard.

>nvidia relies on CPU for syscalls
Fuck that noise. Lord knows how directx is gonna be affected either. Fuck this, im getting a 1600x

>20

5% is the low end for few kernel calls, 50% for intensive kernel calls.

Same, since 2012

Old i7-2600k here. I should be alright

haha you're not right

4770k here, fuck

>why is my fps/moba/mmo so laggy all of a sudden!?
>I thought this bug wasn't supposed to affect gaymin!

Spectre can't be patched. We need an architectural overhaul.

im fuckd right bros?

>you had a Coffin Lake build in your shopping cart literally yesterday morning but didn't want to be too impulsive

why would you even buy a 8700k in the first place lol

>Coffin Lake
kek

Basically all Intel processors for the past two decades are affected.

yep.

Actually just some SandyBridges and the newer CPUs.

>I bought an 8700K a week ago

where are you getting your made up info from?

>I almost bought a loaded Intel Thinkpad this weekend
thank god for procrastination
