It begins.

Wrong.

The performance hit is real, people are already complaining to Amazon:

this is going to cause a tech market crash.

I FUCKING HOPE SO

That thread is from 2017 and unrelated to Meltdown my friendo

Patch applied early because that guy forced an update instead of waiting for Amazon to do it on the 5th

you mean a market meltdown.

can someone give me a quick rundown of what I'm looking at here?

increased server CPU usage due to Meltdown fix

Intel CPU's have a critical security bug that requires an expensive (in CPU execution time) software mitigation.
The graph demonstrates what is presumably the result of that fix in use on some server.

>CPU Itilization (Percent)
>2.5
>2
>1.5
>1
>0.5
>0
There is an increase of an average of 1%. How terrifying.

>150% increase useage
Ha Ha Ha Holy shit ha ha ah.

From 0.5% to 1%, that's 50% slower.

goyim, I..

AMD doesn't have this problem.

Jesus fuck this is going to be a mess. I feel sorry for all the poor fucks who are going to be tasked with trying to mitigate this.

Azure is rebooting the VMs.

Their fault, for choosing Intel.

It's not they had any choice before...

>their fault for choosing a CPU with a problem that nobody knew about
>hurr I bought AMD without knowing about this Intel issue, so I'm retroactively smart

To be fair "no body got fired for buying Intel". At least... Until today!

shady companies do shady things all the time
that Intel is shady is public knowledge
so yes, you're stupid for buying a product from a unscrupulous corporation that most likely was garbage

That's different.
Those load averages are not percentages.

LMAO THE ABSOLUTE STATE OF Gg/ggg//ggGG

this is how it is being used while monitoring AWS
>t. former free tier AWS user

That's kinda retarded, because percent is measured out of 100. So if you say something is measured in percent and then show a graph from 0 to 2.5 then the assumption is that 97.5 levels of the graph are not being shown.

Which is also why I assumed that this one here is not jumping from two full cores of usage up to peaking 10 but averaging six.

Intel will come up with new processor generation shortly and you can rebuy your performance back. Thank you!

Intel won't have an unbugged processor ready to ship until Q2 2019 at the earliest.
