Is one monitor the best choice for workflow?

is one monitor the best choice for workflow?

For actual work, no.
I'm using two monitors at work right now and kinda wish I had a third one. It's just impossible to go back to only using one after that.

For private usage, debatable.
I like having two monitors at home too but honestly, I'd probably manage to get by with only having one as well.

Absolutely not. You need 2 in order to compare tables / throw info from one document to another without alt tabbing.

Even if you don;t believe me, try it, you will not be able to go back to 1 monitor.

I had two 24" 1080p monitors and it worked well. But it took up tons of area and didn't work with all the desks I wanted to use. Plus with my OCD and them being two different bezel types it drove me straight to Autism. I have PTSD now.

I ended up getting a 28" 4k and now I just snap each window to each side. I've come to like that more than using two monitors. The flow is easier, quicker, and the focus stays on one monitor.

I have two right now at work and could realistically use 3 or 4. I use billing software that has to be full screen on one, a browser with minimum 2 windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, Explorer, and Lync

Also have 2 at home and I won't be going back to one ever.

Shut up nigger

I don't think there is a best choice. Just as with computer desks people like different things and are productive with what they like.

That said, my ideal setup is a single 27"+ high resolution monitor and using multiple windows for different programs instead of multiple monitors.

No

lmao soyboy

nope, three monitors work perfectly

These aeron chairs are pure marketing, aren't they?

Why?

If your work stream is like molasses dripping up.

I've worked with two 24" monitors in uni when writing a table-heavy paper, I know have an 38" ultrawide which works just as well when splitting the screen. you just need at least enough screen space to have one window for input and one window for output open and usable at the same time.

if it's at least 1440p then yes

i went to a local place and they let me try it for 3 weeks.

v comfy but i wouldn't spend the money on all the adjustments. all i need is the lumbar support and arm/height adjustment. everything else is pretty useless imo.

for actual work, yes. People invented windows. Ultrameme is also a meme, you could try a big 1:1 monitor.

Yes.

Since about nobody can affort or produce giant rounded monitors, no.

No, it's the worst. Plenty of studies proving that 2 monitors increase productivity by about 30% and 3 monitors give you a 50% boost.

post feet

fucking this, and then using virtual desktops to separate work from play

Having multiple monitors doesn't help because you can't look at two screens.

It just means your window manager is trash.

4 is the sweet spot but with a twist. Two separate computers, one Intel one amd. They are each connected to two monitors each in the same room

for what purpose

Pretty sure thats satire.

Stability and reliability. Just look at that hardware bug from Intel. Now he can use AMD with confidence that there are no hardware security flows on his AMD machine

Both Intel and AMD have one of the "bugs"

>one of the best software engineers of our era
>uses 1 monitor

name?

Jeff Dean

If it's a big ass 27'+ monitor, yes.

>actually tried it
>went back to one monitor
It's just a thing that autistic kids do to feel cool.

What about ultra wide monitors?

brain dead idiots in this world.
your health not mine, enjoy misery. bye.

one monitor per computer

For work, two screens is fine, one for chat, other for documentation and editor.

For home, one is plenty. Literally no reason to ever have a second monitor, I get no use out of two, just ends up being blank 99% of the time.

all my schoolwork and personal use can be and is contained on one monitor. The extra energy expenditure of an additional monitor would drive me crazy.
then again, I'm an alien who underclocks every device he owns and has his screen on 5% brightness.

>he doesn't watch TV shows or movies while gaming / working / browsing Sup Forums
>he doesn't have 200 youtube channels subbed watching them on the second monitor

What a fucking plebeian.

ayy lmao?

>only 200

>soyboy xd
Literally hang yourself.

I am picky

I also drive slow enough that I stop at red lights without using the brakes in an attempt to save gas (unless there're cars behind me)
so yeah, ayy lmao

wtf who is taking the picture

???
Are you talking about the lack of reflection in the window to the right? It's an angled shot.

you should be able to see the person taking the photo in the reflection from that angle

Perhaps. Seeing how he's a big name guy, maybe they cropped out the photographer's reflection?

I find one 27" coupled with an Ultrasharp turned 90 degrees is best for home use, as for work you absolutely need two.

do you think before speaking?

2 for work, 3 is a gaymen meme.

One landscape + one portrait is superior
