Have Intel CPU

>have Intel CPU
>be on Debian
>install Meltdown bugfix with apt-get full-upgrade
>no noticeable performance difference
>double check if fix is really installed and running
>it is

So all these reports about yuuuge crippling performance losses was only AyyMD bullshit FUD all along?

Why am I not surprised? Oh wait, I know why: because when you have an inferior product, lying and deceiving is your only possible resort.

Stay mad, AyyMD cucks.

>>no noticeable performance difference
no noticeable performance difference IN WHAT APPLICATION you shithead?

you don't guesstimate performance differences OP, srsly...

redhat said you need microcode

AmemeD falseflag job

probably some terminal app hahah

oh no mb thats for 5715 / v2

Can anyone tell me the name of the update?
This popped up the other day, and I don't want to apply the patch yet, but I can't find a description.
(Debian stretch)

>inferior product

anyway wanna post any actual proof now or just slidin?

security-tracker.debian.org/tracker/CVE-2017-5754

I probably sound like a retard but
does this mean I already have it?

Is just means you don't do any meaningful work you just watch trap porn and refresh anime threads, and your CPU sits idle

the GUI obviously

Well there we have it. One user's spurious anecdotal claim has proven this global catastrophe, which by all rights was poised to shake the microprocessor industry to its very foundations, to actually be nothing. Thanks user!

Try compiling something big and then try it again without the patch

oh nvm i think you do have it
that +deb9u2 could be it idk

>ayymd
Go away shill.

t. Retard
It was announced beforehand that it won't slow your shit down noticeably for typical user shit like gaymen and watching autistic YouTube videos.

The performance loss is real, by the way, I'm running BOINC and lost about 2%.

Install Gentoo.

it's just poozen shills

>2%
HOW WILL INTEL EVER RECOVER?!!?!!!?!1

He'll just post one of those shill benchmarks from one of those
>intelryzen
websites

He just uses it as a Facebook machine

>Apple: “Our testing with public benchmarks has shown that the changes in the December 2017 updates resulted in no measurable reduction in the performance of macOS and iOS as measured by the GeekBench 4 benchmark, or in common Web browsing benchmarks such as Speedometer, JetStream, and ARES-6.”

>Microsoft: “The majority of Azure customers should not see a noticeable performance impact with this update. We’ve worked to optimize the CPU and disk I/O path and are not seeing noticeable performance impact after the fix has been applied.”

>Amazon: “We have not observed meaningful performance impact for the overwhelming majority of EC2 workloads.”

>Google: “On most of our workloads, including our cloud infrastructure, we see negligible impact on performance.”

you mean one of those benchmarks that actually predict typical desktop workloads, right?

> b-but it does better in OpenSSL!
lmao

>>>>>>ITS NOT NOTICEABLE

AHAHAHAAHAHAHAAAAA STOOPP MY SIDES HURT AHAHAAA

NOOOOO!!!! IT'S BECAUSE INTEL PAID EVERYONE OFF!!!!!!!!

>receive money from Intel with exclusive deals for using their shit
Of course all of them are going to lie. Can you imagine the shitshow if the came out and said "We received a 25% performance dip"? Customers would ditch them to their competitor that reported no losses.

>no noticeable difference
>noticeable
Go ahead, recompile the kernel. Try using a database. Or do some benchmarks and shit. Because browsing reddit is not a way to test performance you faggot.
Also >debian
We don't need to know what your OS is, nor what command you used to upgrade, stop attention-whoring, reddit faggot and go install arch or something with a usable package manager.

Slide thread, sage and hide

> reality comes crushing down on the AMD shill
> "i-it's a conspiracy!"

every fucking time.

AMD owners will always try to justify their inferior product purchase

>So all these reports about yuuuge crippling performance losses was only AyyMD bullshit FUD all along?

its the typical FUD you get with anything really.

Yes there are some cases of large performance losses but they seem to be tied to some very specific task.

overall to the typical consumer the impact is barely noticeable.
guru3d.com/articles_pages/windows_vulnerability_cpu_meltdown_patch_benchmarked,1.html

We will know better when more pre and post benchmarks appear online

>said the the increasing nervous intel shill for the 1000th time

Can I test things with the pti=off switch?

Once again AMDickheads jumped the gun and made a fool of themselves.

Better sell those AMD shares before it's too late.

you didnt notice a performance loss because you nevee reach 100% cpu utilization. no shit you wont notics that chrome opens slower, it opens in 2ms instwad of 1ms

the performance impact will be noticeable on servers and workstations, not your consumer garbage

tell me why would you need a gorillion cores for your facegook and twatter

>lmao
render on c2d

Intel was caught doing this before, this is not a conspiracy this is how Intel does business

>confess trouble
>cause panic
why would they do that
ofc they'll keep their mouths shut

...

b-b-but my value !

IT'S NOT REAL, GOYIM

>>So all these reports about yuuuge crippling performance losses was only AyyMD bullshit FUD all along?
No. Anons in recent threads posted b4 and after kb update.
you aren't making sense

If I ever need a machine for running OpenSSL benchmarks on, I'll be sure to give AMD a chance

and if you ever need good single core performance I think Intel would be a good choice :)

>render on single core performance
how conveniently you skipped my post with a messy reply only to come back with your teeny tiny straw
BTW isn't everything multi core nowadays anyway or are you boasting for your console emulating PC?

Confirmed:

>have a jew cpu on your thinkpad
>be on debian
>upgrade your kernel
>dont reboot because you are lazy and would lose uptime
:^)

>quoting a tripfag
its time to go back

youtu.be/SqbNWCehbmU

Igor told us!!!!! AidsMD false flag

Just installed this update and lost 0.1% performance
WHAT THE FUCK?!

I thought changes occurred first on unstable and testing before hitting stable.

>majority
>majority
>most

yes indeed you are a retard

...

The only thing that matters
Gaming

Stable receives security updates and bug fixes

apparently AMD owners are autistic schizophrenics

Projection

apparantly intel is a mossad front company

...

when you see the level of shilling you see in this thread (ignoring facts, posting reacting images as an argument, going off of speculation instead of data), you can safely ignore it.

data shows the patch doesnt affect performance. Sup Forums was saying Amazon would see massive cloud hits; Amazon has refuted that. Sup Forums and ayymd shills are retarded as ever.

Photoshop

great, because however they pedal it the customers will notice and make it known

>AidsMD

LMAO This is golden!

>implying Debian's wrinkly old packages will be getting the updates any time soon

>installed kernel patch
>didn't install firmware patch
>thinks it's fixed

wew lad

>How do stable distros work?

SIR DO THE NEEDFUL AND DELET

kek

it could be that the page was not / is not updated? user posted a bigger kernel version

>data
you mean this ?

At least he's not rude

>Igor
Literally who

lmao

I run some tests on my i7 6700k before and after the patch and got a loss around 1.5-2%. But I don't know how to run benchmarks for the VM, I/O exc. That will reportedly be hit harder.
