I think we all have to agree that the iPhone 8/X variants are pretty fast but end up losing in real world use due to insufficient RAM and constant overheating/thermal throttling.

The reason apple sent out the "updates" was because they tdp throttled the SoCs in older iPhones to hide the detrimental battery capacity.

Technically the A11 curb stomps the SD 835 but only shortly before throttling. Which is sad, I thought after their macbooks throttling to 0.8 GHz apple would have focused on better cooling.

There is no evidence whatsoever that the iPhone has poor heat management or throttles. On the contrary, in long demanding tasks like pic related, that’s where Apple really starts to shine.
Regarding RAM, the iPhone doesn’t need any more RAM. Apple certainly didn’t cheap out - they have by far the best chips in the industry and the iPhone X costs more than any other phone to make. Generally Apple has better RAM management.

Such tasks are much less of a performance, and thermal, hit than general processing, much like AES.
I'm with you on RAM management, to a certain degree. iOS is much more restrictive in what background applications can do, with the majority of what they do being through iOS workers that are always running. Thus iOS can unload a lot of an applications memory from RAM to cache on disk once it is put into the background and then restore it fairly easily.
Applications on Android are closer to how they work on a computer. They can manage their own background tasks and thus need to keep more in RAM in order to stay running.
In the end it means that you need more RAM for the same number of applications to stay running on Android than on iOS, but there are things you can have your applications do on Android that you can't on iOS because the system workers won't let you.
You have two different approaches as so long as you have a reasonably recent device it hardly matters.
