I hope my Atom N270 isn't affected and doesn't get the patch.

mfw g3258, the dual core destroyer, isn't affected and I don't have to get new hardware and I can keep playing every modern game and emulator at 60fps med-high on a $40 cpu

Patch in action

I really like this pic.

they are going to be paying a lot more in electricity.

those costs are going to have to be picked up by the customers as well.

is there a list of all affected cpus? wanna know if my x61 is fine

is the patch automatically pushed?

Windows 10 Enterprise/LTSB and Linux give you the choice to accept the patch.
That is if you have a bit of working brain you'd accept it immediately or would you rather get owned by driveby javascript.

is win7 being left out to dry?

Of course.

In the real world how likely is this exploit going to be used? Still running a 2500K on Win7.

Wait a few weeks to find out.

The intel kikes are really pushing the ALL vulnerabilities affect ALL CPUs lie.

fucking gay. i guess now is the time for me to go full freetard

No there should be a rollout quality patch called 405 something that has the patch inside it

>mfw g3258, the dual core destroyer
>Haswell aka Core i 4th gen
You're affected too, moron
Pentium G/Cerelon G are lasered off Core i3 silicon

Intel doesn't respect your freedoms

DELID THIS

>The TempleOS guy was right all along

Why aren't you using superior Raspberry Pi and Intel Atoms which are immune to them?

AFAIK they should be at least immune to Meltdown if not Spectre if they're 1.6Ghz and earlier.

He uses AMD I presume which is still affected by Spectre unless he really uses a retro rig with the EGA graphix.

This is probably a retarded question, but do they make ARM chips strong enough for a theoretical gaming PC that has games that can run on ARM architecture?

>anime
Go hang yourself

Mobile gaming only. AFAIK the newer Octo-core Snapdragons aren't affected either. They're good enough to play some Unity 3D racing games ,at 60 FPS ,1080p lines.

>Mobile gaming only
shiddd, guess it's back to just playing emulators then

With all this snooping, I feel like pretty soon we will all have two computers, one dedicated PC for pirating stuff and porn that only runs on stuff that is known to not have these backdoors, and a "normie" PC just for gaming since most vidya is dependent on nonfree stuff that tracks you. Though I think there was also a similar paranoia back when Ubuntu started having Amazon searches integrated into the OS, I guess most people never learn the first or second time.

What a fucking mess. Better make a backup of my shit in case I get affected by this.

And I better start saving up for a new cpu...

Thanks a fuckton Intel.

Piss off weeaboo.

This is just like iPhone throttling.

A patched intel chip is still 30-50% faster than an AMD one so this is a literal Nothingburger.

AMDfags are so desperate for anything, just like Angroid lusers.

After looking i think this basicly makes Fast (Overpriced)RAM important for intel as AMD as it seems to about 1/2 RAM writes.

What old thinkpads are inmune to this bullshit?

Hell no. No internet company can handle 30% increase in hardware cost. Not all servers are vulnerable, only those which execute user data, so the fix will only be applied for those servers.

We will likely see more companies isolating those tasks from their normal servers.

Can anyone sum this up in 3-5 sentences?

This is literally my plan, and is a pretty sane way to look at it.

Get some autistic freetard thing for regular use.
And a normie pc for gaymen (although this will also run linux, probably ubuntu. No tux, no bux!)

Save it. It's all yours.

Intel done goofed. Intel users have a choice between playing sitting duck or a massive hit in perfofmance. AMD laughing all the way to the bank.

Hardware Unboxed did his tests with windows + Bios updates

youtube.com/watch?v=JbhKUjPRk5Q

Games either run the same or lose about 5fps. SSDs are fucked though with lower read/writes.

Whats the goofup?

All Intel cpus since at least the first Core i chips have a hardware bug called "meltdown" that lets processes read memory that the shouldn't be able to read - for example, JavaScript on a webpage could read your password & encryption keys, or software in a virtual machine could read what is going on in other VMs on the same hardware.

A software workaround is being released, but it causes performance reductions. It doesn't seem to reduce most home use cases much, but is pretty nasty for big data center stuff. Behind the scenes Amazon, Microsoft, Google, ect are probably throwing chairs at Intel employees.

I thought it was KB4056897 ??

Thanks for the explanation.

Security Monthly Quality Rollup (KB4056894)
Security Update (KB4056897)
are the same thing for windows 7, just the monthly has more stuff.

will it need configuring get-speculationcontrol or whatever?

Five shekels have been deposited to your account Shlomo

...

As far as I can understand, ye olde Core 2 Duo/Quad chips are unaffected, can anyone confirm?

Even Pentium IIs are affected and due to become slower.

>my motherboard will never be updated
How easy is it to actually use spectre in a malicious way?

8 year old script kiddies will download sploits from xda-developers.com and hack yer shit mate

delid dis

looks for where it's not really going to be affected.
>games
>new hardware

Seems like a salesman. If he was interested he'd look for where the issue is.

It should really be this chick

God, I want this chick to laser my dick in half so I can fuck both of her holes with my cauterized doubledick

feels good to not have jewdown compatible cpu

Just bought a 7700K for my new gaming rig.
It's in shipment.
Am I fucked?

better ask about a list of unaffected cpus instead

How about doing your own research instead of listening to everything Sup Forums says?

Wait, that would mean you're not an idiot. That can't be right.

Been away for a couple of weeks and have just come back to this intel meltdown. I installed all the latest windows updates, is there anything else I should be doing ? I don't use a anti virus, do I need to update anything else ?

I have to wonder, will this be bigger than Volkswagon?

Fuck off to plebbit

>01/01
Creepy.

fuck intel and fuck jewish people

tl;dr yes

rip jewtel

goddammit
so can you get hacked through some website javascript without having the bios patched
I'm on a 980x for gods sake

That's immune to all the Spectre variants

>so can you get hacked through some website javascript without having the bios patched
I wonder how this will affect coreboot and libreboot?

they did it on purpose

I'm on Windows 8.1 and don't want to install the update as I cannot afford to lose 30% of my processing power.

Is that patch going to fucking install itself automatically? If so, how do I stop it?

How much of a risk is it to not install the patch, anyways? Wouldn't I have to download some malware and run it, or can Meltdown / Spectre own me via a stray javascript include, or what?

WHAT IS GOING ON.

this will prevent the 30% performance decrease and your computer getting hacked: newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113428

is my ryzen fucked

Nigger I ain't buying a new mobo, CPU, and RAM.

I looked up the Windows Update patch that is supposed to be for this in Windows 8.1 so i could disable it before it downloads, but it isn't even showing up in Windows Update.

Not sure what the fuck is going on desu.

I really don't give a fuck, I am not installing something that will increase my compile times by 30%. Is there even any evidence whatsoever of malware in the wild that exploits this shit.

>is my ryzen fucked
No, it only affects Intel Cuckral Processing Units.

>tfw my thinkpad mountain is even slower

Just see how much the patch affects your workload then roll it back if you have to.

How can I check if I'm affected and by how much?

The Grenfell residents can claim some more compensation because "they all" had Intel powered computers.

Should be another £10K per victim

I need to do a quick preso at work on this, does anyone have any cpu performance graphs of servers (esp aws) after the patch?

rip

Since I am on Ryzen I can just laugh r-right?

CRAWLING IN MY SKIN

>give you the choice
