Had the s8+ for six months now. I can really see myself making this phone last like 3 4 years. What do you think Sup Forums

I can see my 1,5 years old Redmeme Note 3 lasting a couple more, I bet I'd feel the same with a flagship.

Nothing

Anyone hear anything about the s9

Most OLED displays will be burnt-in after 2 to 3 years of normal use.

I also fully intend to use mine for 4 years
Somehow I've already got a deep scratch on my glass though (had it since release)

i have some shitty sony phone, and it lasted me years already

Note8 here. I plan on using mine around the same amount of time. I can't imagine a phone being that much of an upgrade more it's already got so much. Other than battery.....

Speaker quality is shit compared to my Nexus 6. I miss it.

Same here brother. Regarding the battery I got a zerolemon 10000mah case for my note 8.

moto g2 lte, 2 yrs already. if i can you can.

I'm using a 3YO phone now. bought it 2 years ago though

I I still have some about that old works just fine

Same I had my z3 since launch. Upgraded to s8+ the day I dropped it finally. Lasted 4 years

I gonna try I don't understand why people want to upgrade ever year. I always hate waiting to root.

Fireproof cases are amazing botha

Haha *lifeproof

samsung is known for dumping previous models as far as updates go, enjoy being behind on the latest android os upgrade in a few years.

I have the s8, it's an amazing phone. The screen is insane on sunny days. Friends with apples can barely see there phone at the beach while I'm here perfectly reading Sup Forums shit.

i mean i've had an s7 for almost a couple years now. i'm sure it will.

can't imagine using a Samsung phone for over 3 years

last phone was the S4
I didn't take care of it (dropped dozens of times, screen totally smashed)
as a result it was painful to use towards the end,
and eventually it just bricked after almost 2 years of use

current phone is S6 Edge
taken such good care of it, 0 cracks on front / back
2 years in, it's still mostly fast
but it is getting slower / more often

thinking of getting an iPhone,
so I don't have to wait so long for OS updates

>The Sony Xperia Z3 is an Android smartphone produced by Sony. Part of the Sony Xperia Z series, the Xperia Z3, at that point known by the project code name "Leo", was unveiled during a press conference at IFA 2014 on September 4, 2014. It was first released in Taiwan on September 19, 2014, in South Korea on September 22, 2014, in India on September 25, 2014, in the UK on September 26, 2014, in Singapore on October 4, 2014, in the United States on October 29, 2014 and in Canada on October 31, 2014.

pretty much fixed with lineage OS

I've been using my note 2 since november 2012. It works perfectly.

This is false, my S3 running lineageOS doesn't have that, screen is gorgeous after 6 years

same. best phone I've had, hope they don't nuke it with an update like apple do once the s9 is out

Disabled Google Services on my S8+, battery now lasts at least three full days.
Used to be, I didn't have to recharge for almost a month...

Got an s7, I'm perfectly happy with it

Trade it in for a S9 if the samsung.com deal comes.

Warning: Samsung's trade in is suspect as fuck though.

I have the regular S8 and def tryna make it last at least 3 years. Maybe replace the battery at some point.

Doesn't your battery drain fast af on high brightness

I had the S5 for 3 years and change. Only upgraded because internal storage was only 16GB and I couldn't install apps anymore. Also the camera wasn't great especially the front facing.

I only just bought my first iPhone a year ago (now on my second) after being a die-hard Android fan for the best part of a decade. In the end, I got fed up with Google’s inability to effectively manage the platform and deliver consistency to the majority of users.

Customer service from the OEMs (Samsung, LG et al) is basically non-existent, whereas Apple have sector-leading service and provide a pretty good support schedule for their devices (most iPhones get up to four years of iOS updates).

Android phones get only a year or two of support, and the latest android releases won’t reach you for up to 6 months whereas iOS updates will reach you instantly, and you can even try beta releases in advance.

Apple are also at the forefront of digital privacy, whereas Google’s stance is already muddied enough. Most people don’t care about this sort of thing, but if you do, Apple are really the only safe choice.

When you also consider that most Android flagships retail for the same price range as iPhones nowadays, the value-for-money proposition that has always been an advantage to Android no longer exists, you now pay top-dollar for a phone that will be left behind by the manufacturer in a year or two, and if you have any problems with it, you’re up shit creek without a paddle.

It does, but no ones forcing you to use it.

lineage OS and microg would literally solve all your problems.

>browsing Sup Forums when you should be socialising

The Angroid manchild way of life

This but with a 1 year old Redmeme 4 Prime

>Google’s inability to effectively manage the platform and deliver consistency to the majority of users.
>Customer service from the OEMs (Samsung, LG et al) is basically non-existent
>Apple are also at the forefront of digital privacy, whereas Google’s stance is already muddied enough.
>you now pay top-dollar for a phone that will be left behind by the manufacturer in a year or two,
>linelagOS and microGoy solving any of these problems

>
thinking of getting an iPhone so I don't have to wait so long for OS updates

i don't think you understand how technology works

>I got fed up with Google
i'm guessing you were a stock android snowflake

y'all need samsung in your life

Thats what i said about the s7, s6, etc. The need for longer battery life makes me switch out these phones almost ever year or two.

have you been replacing the battery?

and what version of android is it on?

what phone are you using now?
and how is it performing generally?

/thread

when android updates come,
it takes a lot longer to get them on samsung phones than stock android phones

so i want to get an iphone so I can get updates sooner
without sacrificing
>build quality
>customer service
>etc

Tell that to glorious S3

>touchwizz

Doesn't exist in S8 and onwards.

>the first-second gen of SAMOLED
>oversaturation
>terrible battery life
>burnin
>Samsung cucking it within a year, most people never saw 4.4
>full touchwiz bloat
>hahaha based SAMSUNG glorious S3

Been using my xperia Z2 for over 3 years and can't justify getting a new phone even though I really want to.
S8+ looks solid specs wise, easily a 3 years phone .

I have a Galaxy S8. Best phone I've owned. Performance is actually fine and if there's still meme lag I haven't noticed it much. I only wish it had better battery life. I use it a lot so I end up having to charge in the late afternoon/dinner time

Install Lineage OS in it.

That fixes only two of the problems and you are still stuck with a phone comparable to entry level $50 phones in the current year.

I must I've been impressed with the battery life on the s8+. I never get anything less that 13 to 14 hours. And that's watching YouTube and music none stop

yeah battery life on my S6 edge fucking sucks
I have to charge 2 - 3 times a day,
and all I do is
>text
>watch YT vids at 720p or less
>use chrome

what's so good about Lineage?

I'm considering moving to iPhone,
so if you can shill me on this, one less person will have joined the dark side

That's why I root and install a custom Rom. If not I can't i get a new phone. That why I kept my nexus 5. It still runs amazing.

Still can't flash custom kernels on the snapdragon versions of the s8/s8+/note8 so custom ROMs are more visual fluff and ad-blocking because root than technically useful.

Im still using a s3 mini as we speak

not much, other than the fact that it actually gets long-term updates (if your phone is popular enough).

oh, that and material design (tm). It + a good launcher + a good icon pack + KWGT + autism = everything you see on those phone homescreen threads

I doubt it

S6 reporting, I've had it for a year and want to get the bloat off and speed it up a bit. The battery is about 70% life right now so I think it would be cheaper to replace the battery and install a different OS. Sometimes it bogs down when I'm looking at a map, what do?

>when android updates come,
it takes a lot longer to get them on samsung phones than stock android phones

because they have more features than braincells you have and they don't release unusable garbage like google and apple, moron
also learn to type

the greentext messed up because of the fucking illiterate pajeet

I'm guessing you're a virgin user, possibly kissless
nobody who's getting laid is this aggressive about phones

hell, I haven't had sex in almost 3 months
doesn't mean i have to get aggro lol

There is one method but I've been waiting for it to be full proof. That is the only thing I am disappointed in with the s8 and s8+. Hoping the will be a better work around soon.

>I'm guessing you're a virgin user, possibly kissless nobody who's getting laid is this aggressive about phones

tfw you resort to posting your biography when you have nothing else to say
LUL

you had 10 minutes to come up with something
and this is what you give me?

for shame user, for shame

He is fairly correct I went on an almost 3 year dry spell and got laid recently and I'm not as angry about everything as I used to be.

We should pool our money together and buy him a hooker, I'm sure there's a few who accept buttcoin

when you're still delusional and even reply to yourself to make yourself feel better about your virginity

I'm a little confused by your post. You may want to edit it a bit so it makes more sense.
But there's definitely more to sex. Sex is different with each person you have it with. What each person brings to the bedroom defines the experience. And when you and your partner bring love for eachother it creates a spectacular experience.
I lost my virginity at 19. Until 21 I had sex with a handful of girls. None of it felt good. None of it was memorable. And the stuff that felt good at the time disgusts me now. BUT then I met the sweetest girl. I wasn't even attracted to her at first. We hooked up a couple times and it was alright. But dude, next thing I knew I felt a comfort with this girl that I'd never experienced. And let me tell you everything I thought about sex was redefined. I learned what I like, who I like, and how I like it. It was all so wholesome and loving... yet very VERY dirty. Good times.
We broke up though. And I'm sad about it. But I'd be lying if I said I regret it. I'm glad I was alive to experience that.

same

this

That other guy isn't me but my point stands

Mine didn't even last one year.

woah woah woah this is getting too complicated

these 2 posts are mine

these are the virgin's posts

this is some other guy I guess

who is this?

we're not talking about romance and all that
I'm just saying the virgin is angry cus he's not getting pussy

I HAVE NO FUCKNIG IDEA WHAT ARE YOU TALIKING BAOUT, I FUCKING DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT OTEHR CUNT ITALIAN IS ON ABOUT I'M TRYING TO REMAIN FUCKING CALM AND EXPLAINING SCIENTIFIC FACTS IN THIS THREAD BU THEN THERE'S FUCKING MONGOLOIDS LIKE WHO FUCKING CUHRFDY UTSHGCNBZUVFGJDS

Yes the only problem you will have is apple throttling performance to make you buy need phone

And now we see why you don't get laid.

>doesn't understand what a copypasta is
>must be a virgin with aspergers

And now we see why you don't have friends.

i used S5 for 3 years. just got s8, probably gonna use it for next 5 or so.

Take better care of your shit.

>still keeps spamming his biography everywhere in unrelated threads
this guy must not like being socially rejected

I do.
My previous phone was a Nexus 5, that still works fine.

Kept that after the Redmi shat itself. Currently on a Meizu M6 Note though.

And now we see why you should've killed yourself in the womb.

triggered 14 year old virgin btw

And now we check those holy dubs.

>install Lineage

/* What's not working */
Bluetooth Audio
RIL (call, sms, microphone, data)
NFC
Camera
Fingerprint reader
Torch
Wi-fi Hotspot

Lmao

s8, shit is awesome. i've had it for about two weeks now and i love it.

/* What's working */
you tell me

You could just replace the battery or sell it.

iPhones retain their value a lot better, the 6s my dad bought in 2015 is still worth about 300 bucks and will probably receive 2 more years of updates, while my Xperia Z3 Compact is a worthless piece of shit.

I feel like my s7 edge could satisfy me a few years at least unless webpages continue to get more resource hungry.

Battery lasts at least a day, charges up in less than an hour and takes okayish pics. All I kinda wish is linux on galaxy (dex support) with 4k output and usb-meme-c. I'll update to S10 perhaps?

I'm still on my s5 and could easily see it lasting "forever".
>CPU/RAM still more than sufficient
>Camera more than sufficient
>Decent build quality
>Removable back + SAD slot
Give me a real reason to upgrade and I will. From my perspective there haven't been any significant improvements to smartphones.

>bloatware
>ugly
>lag
>redundant duplicate apps
>all of above still exist
>"doesnt exist in s8 and onwards"
retard

;)

>Removable back
Fuck me I wish flagships still did this being able to swap the battery is a so much better features than a faggot metal/glass back with wireless charging.

I bought an s8 on black friday for 575 and i hope i dont get btfo by the s9

s8 owner here, i'm definately impressed myself. i just hope the battery is doing a fine job over the next course of updates. i plan to keep it as long as possible.. or maybe until we get true bezel less phones

this. there are at least dozens of android smartphone manufacturers, but not a single one seems to offer that distinctive feature.

project treble, but let's see how it goes first.

which specific google services? I cant find anything to disable

Hey Sup Forums I have an honest question, what is performance like on the iphone 8 and samsung 8?

I have a Nexus 5X. I heard that samsung phones are held down by bloatware?

I just want to take pictures

I use a 32G Nexus 5 with LOS 14.1 and its perfectly fine. It was 30 eurobucks in perfectly fine condition, even the battery is great

Yeah, it's more like S∞. What else do you need from a phone, it's a fucking black waterproof glass monolith with wireless charging. Oh, you also get free VR with pixel density better than on Vive. And desktop GNU/Linux experience pretty soon.
