I wish this would fucking die already
You can't kill something that's perfect :^)
Agreed OP. It's holding Linux back because companies like Canonical and Red Hat waste their resources on this utter trash.
...
He came right back. Can't truly kill perfection. ;)
What's wrong with it?
Sure it's not my suckless /minimal/ tiling utra-autismo WM setup, but it looks pretty good for a normie desktop.
bloated and requires systemd. i dont mind systemd and prefer it over sysv but the fact that you have to actually modify it to make it be able to run on non-systemd distros is bullshit.
>Kill the bestia DE Linux has because muh systemd
Please, stay in your mom's basement
>trashnome
>best DE
Please, go back to your mom's basement
Ok faggot, witch is your aproved Linux DE? Please don't Say KDE
Lumina
Lumiwhat?
KDE, you piece of shit!
Why don't (You) make something better then?
>I wish this would fucking die already
So don't use it. Problem fucking solved. Got any more retarded teenboi posts?
Yeah, that's what I thought, typical butthurt KDE fanboy.
>t.typicalfootbutthurt
Enjoy your lack of X development. Enjoy your buggy Wayland only cuckholdry. Enjoy your no Nvidia support. Being force fed Wayland is not a lesser crime.
Same :'(
KDE is a piece of shit but still it's superior to gnomeme.
LXQt is besto DE.
>"X"
>using this shit outdated with a fucking thousand bugs, root acess and etc
>nvidia
>implying i use nvidia
Go back to
gnome is nice and rock solid stable but nautilus is bad for browsing large dirs and ram usage is obscene (well not really but for me it's wasted)
>Go back to What the fuck does any of that have to do with reddit? The point is, these DE developers just randomly decide to drop commonly used packages and features, and take on buggy, unproven, garbage like Wayland. I'm sick of this shit. There seems to be a new disruption to my systems every other day. Someone needs to reel these motherfuckers in!
>Enjoy your lack of X development.
Good. X needs to die.
>Enjoy your buggy Wayland only cuckholdry
Funny that you say this, because that's the direction that GNOME is going.
>Enjoy your no Nvidia support
If Nvidia won't support GNU/Linux with Libre drivers for their cards, they don't deserve OUR support.
Buy AMD, at least until Nvidia stops being kikes.
>Being force fed Wayland is not a lesser crime.
We've been being "force fed" X since the fucking 80s.
>If Nvidia won't support GNU/Linux with Libre drivers for their cards, they don't deserve OUR support.
Ewww lad, You gonna look so stupid once KDE starts supporting Nvidia like GNOME does, because that's what KDE developers do, they talk and talk and in they end they eat their own words. Is not the first time.
>What the fuck does any of that have to do with reddit?
Beats me. That was one of his weaker points.
>The point is, these DE developers just randomly decide to drop commonly used packages and features
Yeah GNOME has a habit of doing that. I'm not sure whether other DEs have done this though.
>and take on buggy, unproven, garbage like Wayland
I find it so ironic that you say Wayland is buggy, yet keep supporting X.
also, Question: How is something ever "proven" in your eyes? If something hasn't had a chance to be implemented enough, it's "unproven". Because it's "unproven", you say it shouldn't be implemented. The cycle continues, and nothing ever improves...
>Good. X needs to die.
No shit, but Wayland hasn't proven itself to any better.
>Funny that you say this, because that's the direction that GNOME is going.
Whoah! That changes everything!
>If Nvidia won't support GNU/Linux with Libre drivers for their cards, they don't deserve OUR support.
Yeah, we'll all just throw our shit in the trash to prove a point.
>We've been being "force fed" X since the fucking 80s.
And X has worked since the 80's. Call me when Wayland works. In the meantime, I'll use X.
Why would I look stupid? KDE supporting NVIDIA's proprietary driver does not change the fact that the driver is proprietary. I wasn't making a point about GNOME vs KDE there, I was saying that regardless of the specifics of Wayland, if Nvidia isn't giving us Libre drivers, they don't deserve our money.
>Why would I look stupid?
Because you are
>No shit, but Wayland hasn't proven itself to any better.
Well at least we can agree on X needing a replacement.
Have you considered using OpenBSD? I hear they forked X into Xenocara, which might be more your style, at least until Wayland is more "proven".
>Whoah! That changes everything!
Wasn't this a GNOME/GNOME vs KDE thread?
>Yeah, we'll all just throw our shit in the trash to prove a point.
Why would we do that? Just don't buy more of their shit in the future.
>And X has worked since the 80's. Call me when Wayland works. In the meantime, I'll use X.
Fair enough.
Wayland should have been optional from the start. It shouldn't have been dumped on us in the same way systemd was. Throw it in the non-LTS versions and let whoever wants to use it, use it. The Linux community has the annoying habit of never actually settling into things and fixing them. It's always forcing new and half-baked stuff and pissing people off.
>Wayland should have been optional from the start
It is.
If your computer can run it, it boots into it
If your computer can't run it, it falls back to X.
If you want to go back to X anyway, you can pick that on the login screen.
>It shouldn't have been dumped on us in the same way systemd was
It's not. GNOME (and presumably KDE) both have both X and Wayland supported.
>Throw it in the non-LTS versions and let whoever wants to use it, use it
Which is why ubuntu 16.04 LTS doesn't have it, and 17.10 does.
>The Linux community has the annoying habit of never actually settling into things and fixing them. It's always forcing new and half-baked stuff and pissing people off.
Agreed. Thankfully, this appears to be changing a bit. As mentioned above, you are not forced into X at this point. I remember reading a blog from a dev on the new PulseAudio replacement Pipewire, and the post was basically a big apology for all the shit people went through when Pulse got shoved into Ubuntu, and saying that they're gonna do things differently this time.
>KDE Plasma 5.12 is the last release which sees feature development in KWin on X11. With 5.13 onwards only new features relevant to Wayland are going to be added.
Cool. I hear LXQT is gonna start using Kwin so that it can support Wayland.
>typical butthurt KDE fanboy.
>this is an insult on Sup Forums
god, why do i come to this autistic board
Because we love you!
You're the only one I have left, user
Don't leave me
No thumbnails in the filepicker.
he respawned
why would I want my menubar and titlebar fused together?
Why wouldn't you?
They remove features left and right for no reason whatsoever.
Funny how you trolls never signal the features they add.
...He says as he doesn't mention anything they added.
>crying about a literary inferior solution
