It's good, but in order to install the updates you have to boot into recovery and install the zip files. It's a hassle.

At least with TWRP.

Yes I do. Running official build on hammerhead. It always reboots for me, installs the zip and reboots system without me having to do anything.

The only time I'd install a custom rom is if the phone is really old and the latest android for it is so outdated you can't install your apps. S7 is relatively new so it's a waste of time.

I have an s7, non-edge, and LineageOS is buggy as fuck. Random reboots, apps crash, apps can't open, etc.

I'm running LineageOS on an S7. Battery usage is a problem IMO, but not having a bloated Android fork with uninstallable fagbook and M$ apps is the reason why I'm using it. Had been using Cyanogenmod for several years on my old S2 and it worked beautifully.

It's nice until you run into the one app that you really need that microg can't handle yet, like snapchat, whisper, google drive, and countless others. It gives you loads more battery life in exchange though.

Camera quality is much lower if you install LineageOS which doesn't have Samsung proprietary software camera enhancement shit custom tuned to S7's camera sensor module and image processor.

I think you're confusing the two.
Lineage is the ROM, and micro g is a (mostly) foss implementation of google play services. It lets you use apps that rely on google services, without actually having the services installed.
In order to use micro g though, your ROM needs to have signature spoofing enabled. By default lineage os has this option disabled. The user can manually patch this, but it's a pain in the neck and needs to be done on each update. This is why micro g has started compiling their own version of lineage with sig spoofing enabled and micro g already implemented.

Only problem I have with LOS is the occasional app crash and shit camera optimization. Currently using a onePlus x phone so I'm haven't scoured any info about microg yet.

Still stuck on old twrp (cant remember which version, but I have to manaully update the os) and Los 7.1.2 and it's still pretty stable. Can't see the reason to update from oreo atm.

I have almost problems, but I don't use google shit. Everything is stable, but I recently noticed my OTP app (andOTP) forgets everything after an OS update. Everything else is fine, bank apps and so on.
F-droid apps can install without the extra "install" screen. Yalp (play store replacement) works well, but have the extra "install" screen.
Most apps just use google for push notifications. These work perfectly. Apps that use maps can be a bit weird, but mostly work. Make sure you set up a location provider, you can choose apple or mozilla botnet, or Deja Vu which is local-only.

G maps works fine and other 1st party apps but for some reason, I can't get 3rd party apps to work functionally like osmd maps on fDroid.

The camera is probably just as bad as stock, but I'm not using the same device and I don't care about the camera anyway.

Osmand doesn't use google maps libraries at all. It works perfectly for me (except being slow if I use vector maps). What problem are you having?

I added world map and what country I lived in and whenever I searched for addresses, it never comes up or refuses to show anything. Tried removing world map and just the country I lived in and it's the same issue.

Don't remember much what happens since I uninstalled it a long time ago. UI isn't friendly imo and feels a little dated and doesn't give you hints of anything, not to sound like a brain dead normie.

I agree the UI isn't great. You could try the Maps.me app. Same OSM data source, but botnet searches might be kind of helpful.

micro g requires your rom to have sigspoofing enabled, but lineage has it disabled. You can manually patch it, but then you would need to do that every time you update the rom.

Hi. I installed Lineage 15.0 herolte on mi S7 two weeks ago and it's great. Just use Footej for photos or Open Camera with RAW output.

Video recording doesn't work except with the default camera. I haven't look for a fix though.
