Let's settle this once and for all. Comfiest Sup Forums laptop ever is...?
X220 vs T420

i have a t420 and i added memory to it and an ssd . comfy ubuntu
Same, 8GB RAM, 250GB 850 Evo, Debian+i3wm, comfy af.
How much memory do you have in yours?
Also I think that I could never use the X220 since it doesnt have the small "normal" trackpad buttons
X220 i5, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD + 160GB HDD, 9-cell-battery, Antergos XFCE. best machine i've ever had.
i gave it two 4 gig sticks and a 120 gb ssd, plenty for what i need .
I got an x220 with arch and cinnamon, put a 250gb ssd and 8gb ram in. Battery life is nice, but the tn screen is shit. I'm in line for a x220 1080p upgrade kit from nitro caster though, with that it'll last me another 5 years I guess
>x220 1080p upgrade kit from nitro caster
you've got a link to that?
The T420 is easier to type on and has trackpad buttons. Trackpads which need to be pushed down are 100% dogshit.
Both are great but X series are just so much more handy
>buy thinkpad
>use trackpad
???
The thinkpad forum is offline for some reason, but here's the link to the thread. It'll come back again eventually
forum.thinkpads.com
bookmarked, thanks user!
>using the trackpad
>on a thinkpad
user...
We're comparing which one is better, dipshit. That includes ALL objective advantages. Add to that, the T420 has better speakers and a better built-in microphone.
I'll give you the speaker, but trackpad and microphone are none-issues when you unplug both anyways
>I personally don't use it so it can't be an advantage overall
Are you serious? We're not done there, the T420 has better temperatures and a better possible OEM HD+ resolution.
The only advantages the X220 has is the fact that it can be equipped with an OEM IPS display (I think) and it's portable.
Both are good
Shit thread
Are you literally retarded? They are both good, yes, but we are picking the champion here.
Different devices for different use cases there is no winner
I love my x220 and thinking about getting a 2nd one...
X230 reporting in, pretty comfy...
How would you use the trackpoint without the trackpad buttons ?
4 gig what standard? What can it take up to?
Both models can take up to 2x8GB RAM.
>that keyboard
The only thing that is putting me off is the shit panels you get with all of the screens you can install. If I could install a proper good quality 1080p screen I would buy a thiccpad right now
With the dedicated trackpoint buttons?
>windows
>buying used, outdated machines
>implying I paid anything for it
T420, the desktop :^)
x201 because I use this
OP here, I am actually having a real hard time deciding between my T420 and X200s, but the T420 has much better cooling desu.
T420 hands down. Unless screen quality is a concern.
A macbook; maybe one day you'll grow out of memes.
where are those
> windows
> not classic keyboard
...
Prestigio SmartBook 133s
T400 is better than both
>trashpad
Both shit
Dogshit keyboard tho
You're all retarded. The new Lenovo keyboards are better than the old ones.
You're retarded, new keyboards have shit keytravel and layout. Just watch the video from Louis Rossman, he explains it pretty well
Dell Latitude E5540
T430 which is actually easoer for me to find in my area than T420. I never personally owned a X220 but my girlfriend had a X220t and the build quality felt like shit compared to mine. Both have their advantages though.
Depends on your size preference.
Personally, the smaller the better.
I love the X220.
Does anyone else have problems loading the results page?
I prefer the T420, as I can have a mSATA SSD, an HDD on the regular bay, another in the Ultrabay and yet another on the Ultrabase, all running natively.
Yeah, same here user.
>"The server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete"
What in the actual fuck?
Everything was fine the last time I checked another poll.
x230 master race here
Although I do still use my T420.
To be fair.
T430 with T420 keyboard if too autistic about it
That's one more drive, and with modern drive sizes, that hardly seems all that definitive.
clean freaks are sociopathic
It's 16:10, but its max. number of rows is the same as the T420 (900), so in this instance, 16:10 doesn't translate to more height, it translates to *less width*.
Cool it, savage. I'm sick and am doing my civic duty as to avoid passing it onto others.
t cheeto dust ridden swamp ass
Both are super comfy for meltdown + spectre. Enjoy your paperweights.
16.04 or 17.10? it takes 17.10 a solid 8 minutes to boot for me.
Oh my, that keyboard really is as awful as Sup Forums describes..
