Is Parabola GNU/Linux-libre with OpenRC the new most promising distro around ?
Is Parabola GNU/Linux-libre with OpenRC the new most promising distro around ?
Damn right. Too bad it doesn't suit the cucks that need their proprietary dildo firmware and drivers.
No you hipster faggot. WHAT IS /glmg/
Yes.
Bloat.
What's the point of installing an unoptimized FOSS OS if you're going to at some point install closed source drivers, firmware, or software?
I exclusively use free hardware
>FOSS
>closed source
Lliterally riddit
He's talking about shit you usually don't get to change, like your BIOS.
Yes. As long as all your hardware firmware and all the programs you use are also libre. If it isn't, there's no point.
No.
Although like Trisquel it's a step up from gNewSense, people aren't going to put up with shit not working on most hardware without the "binary blobs" and other proprietary software.
It's great they keep working on this stuff and great to use on something it works well with but either it works out on your computer or it doesn't and you move on.
Why don't you just use Debian?
botnet
About 50% of the reason to use any particular distro is because of the package manager.
It's 100% free software and you can use it without systemd???
>GNU
it is trash
You mean Devuan which still runs on an outdated Debian version ?
Also GuixSD and pic.
/thread
Nah you can easily remove systemd from a debian installation
not without it removing pretty much everything from your computer since it has systemd as a dependency
Coreboot and Libreboot exist.
Not 100%
>what is a Libreboot?
No that would be Void
Does Parabola (OpenRC) have an actual installer?
How comparable is it to Artix?
Unlike Arch, it does have one:
wiki dot parabola dot nu/Get_Parabola#Preview.2FBeta_Releases
Of course
do you even into Libreboot?
Wrong. Coreboot + Parabola on the X220 is extremely good, even if not perfect.
For anyone installing Parabola on 32bit hardware, you will have to clear your keyring at one point. This is not one of the suggested fixes in the install guide. I learned it in their IRC. Otherwise one guy's key prints dozens of errors and you can't install anything.
>memeboot
Do you even modern hardware?
>what is an Asus C201?
>what is an RK3288?
>muh sysvinit
>muh minimalism
There's Systemd too if you want...
yeah, fuck those jerks who actually want their hardware to function at all
absolute ghetto shit that doesn't even work properly on mainline kernel
Um, sorry hun, but I'm actually using a Librebooted C201 as my daily libre-computer.
