They're not "switching back". Ubuntu 18.04 LTS uses Xorg default like how 16.04 LTS uses Xorg by default. It's the stable release.

What's Sway like?
Also, what's the situation like on Wayland with screen lockers? Can I use whatever screen locker I want (currently i3lock-color on KDE) or does Wayland mean I'm forced to use my DE's provided screen locker?
