Is there a home surveillance/alarm/remote monitoring system (or service) that is reliable and not a privacy nightmare?
It should at least: Record the outside of your home all the time, store the footage locally for a certain amount of time, then delete it Send a notification or call your phone if the alarm is set off or movement is detected Let you see what's happening remotely, from your smartphone, with the guarantee that you're the only one able to see that
Also share your home security setup if you have any

Sounds like a /cyb/ hobby project to me.

>Send a notification or call your phone I see you have a very lax definition on privacy
James Torres
No, i looked into it, and all the home market security systems were made by the same one or two asian companys, even samsung ones are just rebadges of some generic chinese companys products. They are super buggy and full of security holes. My "samsung" runs an undocumented telnet server for some reason, and when you connect it to the internet it immediatly starts communicating with asian ips. Notably alibaba advertising. App doesnt work well, and everything is buggy
Mason Lee
I think my definition of privacy is pretty sane. Personally i dont care if someone is able to tell my position with a pretty low accuracy based on signal triangulation from my phone, but i would care if someone was be able to access a camera pointing at my house
Yeah, same conclusion i found. Pretty desolating
Alexander Wright
>Personally i dont care if someone is able to tell my position with a pretty low accuracy my sweet summers child

Elaborate instead of calling me names

Yes - setup motion - setup pre/post capture action - pre/post actions should message you in anyway you want really + upload final capture somewhere
You could realistically do this in an afternoon.
Nathan Martin
Why don't you use Snowdens new app with a spare phone? It's FOSS, you own the phone hardare; you can install LineageOS or some other community ROM on it.
Justin Watson
Try out making a raspberry pi camera in a waterproof enclosure over POE then use either zoneminder or shinobi CCTV on an old desktop you have lying around.
> Record the outside of your home all the time, store the footage locally for a certain amount of time, then delete it I think any IP camera can record and stream to your PC. > Send a notification or call your phone if the alarm is set off or movement is detected I don't know if there's any software solutions to this, but you can probably ask your neighbors to call you if your alarm goes off. > Let you see what's happening remotely, from your smartphone, with the guarantee that you're the only one able to see that You're probably gonna have to host your own RTMP server if you want to make sure no one else will see the footage. Not sure if the mobile version of VLC can view RTMP streams, though, but the desktop version can.
>get POE IP cameras >get POE switch or injectors >block in and outbound internet access to cameras with your firewall (in case of chinese backdoors on cheap cams) >buy blue iris as your NVR software >run it on a dedicated spare PC with some WD purples >add cameras to software and start recording >set up motion detection, alerts, etc >set up OpenVPN for remote access on your phone >set up some type of dynamic DNS in case your home IP changes >use blue iris mobile app after connected to your VPN to view remotely
just off the top of my head, might be missing a step or two.
Bentley Turner
>using a camera to spy on people outfront of your home >demand privacy and security from camera OEM lmao
Eli King
or just buy a standalone ip camera that can do 720/1080p and is all configured and ip 65+ out of the box....

You contact a security company and get them to install certified equipment. It's a scam as they'll screw you on the price of the gear but you're paying for a "qualified technician" to install the equipment that way you can get police response if someone breaks in.
If you're looking for something that you can just tool around with then pick up a poe switch along with a hikvision nvr and some 1-2mp IP cameras.
I worked as a junior sys admin for an alarm monitoring station, worked on several different technologies including testing gsm jammers that were being used to disable back up alarm transmission devices. AMA
Jeremiah Cox
Amerifat normies will defend this
But then prattle on about CCTV and the UK being a "surveillance state"
Luke Davis
Where are Niggers smart enough to use GSM Jammers?
Levi Wright
I don't know how much they are used in america but I dealt with them a lot in europe
Thomas Edwards
How much use is a video cam realistically, considering that most thieves wear masks anyway? Thanks, user.
Parker Rogers
So long as the cameras don't have wifi, you're the only one looking at the footage. Pretty big difference there, Orwell.
Cooper Collins
You should be using them as deterrents, most good CCTV systems we sold were monitored. If a pir was tripped the monitoring station would get the alert. If someone was seen taking a look around your house than someone would go live on a loud speaker and tell them to fuck off. To prove it wasn't an audio recording you would identify them by what they're wearing etc. "Yes you in the green hoody we can see you and the police are already on the way over".
Unmonitored anything isn't really useful in preventing a burglary, it might lower your insurance premium but not by much. They of course have their uses in tracking other things like shitty neighbours being nosey but a camera on it's own, not externally visible isn't going to scare most people off.
A lot of break ins are smash and grab, in and out in 1-2 minutes so preempting the break in by deterring someone while they're sussing out your place is key.
Noah Wilson
If you are using non-degoogled android, then check this out myactivity.google.com Also, Google Find My Phone is always enabled, only lately they enabled the notification sending, when the location is pulled.
Aaron Moore
Do it yourself faggot. Use Raspberry Pi + Raspberry camera and ZoneMinder
Isaiah Price
I should add that you only need to make your home look harder to break into than your neighbours. If you have good solid doors/windows and keep everything locked up when you leave for the day than you should be fine.
You need to ramp up security if your home looks more valuable or worthwhile to burgle, most break ins are spur of the moment, some junky will just look for the house with the ajar window or a front door that looks weak enough to be kicked in. Cameras are a good idea but there are other things to invest in first
Leo Morgan
What guns do you have?

This is pretty much the setup I have, I'm planning on chucking some motion detection/facial rec software together to email me when something happens while I'm not home.
Michael Peterson
use something like shinobi or zineminder and put the cameras on their own network. then block the cameras on the router firewall from connecting outside

South african blacks attacking a white farm with high power backpack jammer.
It blocks pretty much everything, they then kill Rob and rape farm people.
Oliver Nelson
alibaba or aliexpress? also what range?
Xavier Roberts
This unit doesnt work well on newer phone but a few years back I owned anything wireless 20 meter range.
Pick a vendor but read reviews from English speaking Americans....which are few....device illegal as fuck but sooo much lulz....
Chase Long
how'd you get it through customs? the chinks labeled it as something else?
Pick the size of hard drive, cameras power supply.
Nothing beats avtech period for the money been using it for 8 yrs easy setup...this will do analog or ip cameras....
The app for mobile viewing is flawless dvr will do anything email pics set off alarms etc
Lucas Murphy
>tfw thieves are getting smarter and use tricks like throwing wood logs and bricks on your front lawn to see if you're home or you're on vacations
Mason Diaz
They are too busy looking for drugs never had anything seized....they label it vaguely....so much shit coming in they can only check a fraction...
Where in the fuck do you think all the phentonyl and shit is coming from?
Were some nerds anyway I only used it to jamm disrespectful niggers anyway....
Most criminals are retards anyway, my dream is to catch someone in my home so I can blow them into pieces...
Is it ok to carry a dead body outside so they don't fuck up your carpet?
Anthony Jenkins
There are anti-jamming solutions
What do you think about services like ADT and Verisure?
Austin Sanchez
Monitoring stations are the only real way of getting good home security. The main reason for this is governments insisting home security meet certain requirements and specifications otherwise a security company cannot call the police on your behalf if they notice something wrong.
Most people think they can slap a nest into their house and call the cops themselves but it's never as effective as forking out on a good alarm and monitoring services
Cooper Diaz
That's what everyone says. But the idea of having cameras with microphones hooked up to a third party in and out my house makes me so uncomfortable.
Thomas Myers
You dont really need internal cameras that are connecting to the monitoring station. For a lot of our clients they had the internal cameras only set to transmit once the house alarm is set.
Gavin Fisher
My best security investment was accidental. My much loved rescue pit bulls died of old age. (Sweet and loyal, I've had several and rescues know you saved them)
Wife brings home two cocker spaniel rescues. The are super alert but don't bark unless there's a reason. Nobody gets near the property without them going off and they come to us to let us know something isn't right.
Jeremiah Barnes
Yeah but still, there are cameras in my house. How much can I trust that they'll access them only when the alarm is set?
What about when you go on vacation?
Alexander Richardson
idk it was only rich normies that spent big on cctv and they cared more about their safety than their privacy in most cases. We really didn't need many internal cameras, just one covering the hallway behind the front door otherwise it was all external. Vetting procedures and management in our control room made sure no one was abusing the cameras
Oliver Ramirez
You want them to be indoors. Learn self-defense law and not from Sup Forums. When my wife chased off some crackheads with our evil black rifle the responding officer was delighted and told her to drag the body the rest of the way indoors and attempt "first aid" so it would look better. Decorating dead guy with properly applied field dressings is no problem. The other mistake people make is running their dick sucker when they should STFU.
>I was in fear for my life >I was in fear for my child
Repeat, keep it simple, lawyer up. My old boss shot and killed two dindus (many years apart) robbing his salvage yard. No charges.
Benjamin Johnson
>What about when you go on vacation?
I have my friends feed the critters. I do similar for them. I only associate with other White techies, bikers and my excellent redneck neighbors who shoot even more than I do. When I moved in they asked if their target practice bothered me. I told them they should shoot more, gunfire is the sound of freedom, and to bury their kills. on their own property. They laughed and we get along great. No one sane would cross their property to get to mine (and the Spanish Dagger bushes would make that extremely painful). I also plant those near windows. There is no fast way to neutralize them and they spread quickly. They are so sharp when I trim them I have to stand back and use a brush axe.
Jackson Cooper
I moved to where blacks are stopped by local police if observed by law enforcement doing anything more complicated than breathing....also white trash.
I have many stories to tell ran counter surveillance on drug dealers and had many arrested and families if that's what you call some sheboon and her kids and live in drug dealer bf broken up due to all the charges...drugs in house...guns in house...ect ect....while my hipster faggot pseudo Christian neighbours cowerd in fear behind curtains....
Best memory from my old hood which I now rent out to millennial trash is seeing a white crackhead in my truck and confronting him with a loaded 45 pointed at his head on a busy street in front of my home as joggers and dog walkers paased by...in my underwear at 10pm on a weds night....street in front of home was state route so imagine the traffic....let him go....wish I had video of the incident to post here but had a SHITTY WIRELESS CAMERA..which was horrible with both video and quality.
The stories I could tell....moved before I killed someone...police force composed of 35 % old white guys trying to retire and the rest women niggers and faggots....I do have some well made youtube videos held privately I used to more or less persuade the police to do their job or I would leak it to the press....things got bad...when they got better millennials with adopted black kids started moving in that's what drive me out in the end....felt like a surrender but looking back smartest thing I ever did
I am a member of this online community of people in the old hood, get my kicks reading the posts about theft and crime ect and smile every thirty days when I cashing rent checks
Julian Powell
A final note....once you have cameras and evidence of crime ect...you either do something about it or go crazy watching it in past tense....the police in metro areas are garbage and the good cops rat out the ones who care and the criminals file complaints against good cops until they quit it's all political bullshit...
The supreme court ruled cities cannot force law enforcement officials to live in the cities they police so now the cops live in the burbs and drive in to jerk off and collect paychecks....
Saw all this firsthand and lots of info from second in command of a district in the highest crime area of city....you either give up and hide....move....or go Charles Bronson.....
