I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

1.84m, 54kg, I use Ubuntu. I spent all my food money this month on an Intel pentium G3470 so I could run my javascript apps faster and be more productive to write some npm dependencies like pony-webpack-theme and horse-manager. However I didn't manage to put it into my GA-880GA-UD3H motherboard... And I guess I have to continue using my quad core phenom. Its totally funny that this phenom is slower than that cheap 2 core pentium.

"Nevermind."

See the problem with "world standards" is only countries whom wish to do trade with other countries must conform to them. In our case, because we are the world superpower, other countries bend to conform to our standards when dealing with us. Thus the lack of a motivation to switch.

If I could press a button right now to America metric, even as an American I would do it. But their is little incentive to spend the money and time when there is little incentive.

Most of us do understand metric measurements pretty well anyways, as they are a standard part of U.S. Public Education after about 1990, and a required part of any serious college course in the sciences.

Funny how you can go on aliexpress right now and find tons of items including imperial measurements.

Wonder why they would do that? Just go out and put measurements for only one country they deal with?

I run Xubuntu on my X230, but I'm not overweight or a dyel.
My dude, you're a bit underweight. I was 128 lbs at one point and it was definitely not healthy.
I feel like linux obsessives (not just anyone who uses linux) definitely tend towards the extremes (rail thin or morbidly obese) more often than the general public. Makes sense. Linux would be a generally solo hobby, and people with mental disorders are more likely to distance themselves from society. People with mental disorders are also more likely to be over- or underweight. Since a linux obsession likely only occurs in people who don't leave their houses, and people who don't leave their houses likely have at least a mild disorder, and people who have mental disorders are generally abnormal weight, linux obsessives are more likely to be very fat or very skinny.
