Shows off unfinished products

>shows off unfinished products

IBM has had a human like AI capable of conversation for almost a decade. They dont show it off. BlackRock has an AI that can manage a portfolio of billions of dollars They dont show it off. Fuck Boston Dynamics for essentially slowing down AI technology. Google sold them because they realized how far behind the shit company was

The help desk bots that IBM has are unironically some of the most useful bots I've ever used. Conversation is more than just NLP, it's about context.

What is to show off about AI? There is nothing to see, nothing to hear, and nothing to touch.

>Look we spent 5 million dollars in a software that can kinda talk

Flattering.

And you dare throw that "well they're just trying to invest in the future", then listen, retard, what do you think Boston Dynamics is doing?

Google also invested $120mil in the Juicero. So I don't assume they know everything.

They're making progress dumbass. Just because they put 5mil into it and didnt get an omniscient being capable of 2039394939293929949391020203020494949495858 computations a second doesnt make it a bad thing.

AI is still a primeval technology and cant really progress further until we actually get an affordable computer that surpasses the processing speed of the brain.

IBM hasn't had an AI capable of conversation for a decade... sequence to sequence learning in neural nets is only like 3 years old...

I could get the blackrock thing, but with IBM there would be *literally* no fucking reason for them to not show it off.

You know how many groundbreaking papers they could publish with tech like that? They could totally get back on the AI scene (which they're declining from insanely fast, at NIPS last year one of the posters they had was a fucking fragrance rating neural network that was literally just an autoencoder that encoded a 10 dimensional vector of a fragrance (so like a list of it's qualities) iNTO ANOTHER FUCKING VECTOR

it was a fucking trash paper

anyways, yeah IBM sucks and a lot of watson is scripted so if they had some tech that could put their ass in the spotlight we'd be seeing it now

>a feature engineering paper
lmao seriously? I don't remember a paper like that.
How did that get accepted to NIPS?

>research enterprise
>polishing anything
App monkey please.
The real technology is always black, dirty, covered in oil and smells delicious. Then some /fa/ggot bugman puts it in a shiny case made outta brushed soda cans and sewer pipes and sells it to the drooling retards as a premium exprerience but it doesnt matter to the real people who matter.

No, google sold them because they have a thing against terminators.

>against terminators
who? Google or BD

>google invested in juicero
google is 99% jewish memes and 1% respectable company

>don't talk to me or my wife's son ever again

What you don't seem to realize is that what they're showing you is meant to accustom general population to the idea of autonomous machines.
What they allow you to see is nowhere near the pinnacle of what they've already achieved.
Stay ignorant user, ignorance is bliss

.

Google. I think I read somewhere they BD had to sever certain DoD contracts.

Shut up Watson

>bitter rant
t. kicked robot

I am sure you stupidi white pig know more than superior japanese investor at SoftBank.

>IBM has had a human like AI capable of conversation for almost a decade.
no user it's called a chat bot no such AI exists
artists were creating chat bots like these from the very beginning of computer history to fight the fact that they are lonely faggots that liv e in basement without friends

yeah - and 3/4ths of the poster was some fucking CLIP ART FRAGRENCE SPECIALIST (LITERALLY A FUCKING CARTOON WITH A MUSTACHE)

this guy pissed me off

he was fat too

Why do people call every thing ai when we've never made anything close to one before neural networks, which still aren't ai.

are you a reatard

it can be AI even without a learning aspect

artificial intelligence

literally anything that mimics intelligence or is intelligent is "AI"

the ghosts in pac man are AI even though theyre entirely rule based, they imitate an intelligent agent though, hence the name "artificial intelligence"

if you're just thinking about algorithms that learn, we've had a fuck ton of those before neural networks. the field of machine learning has been around since like, the 50's and the vast majority of research has been focused on *guess what*: not neural networks

how should we call it?

Ithink Boston Dynamics is more about creating innovations in robot mobility and they are good at that. Their AI sucks but it doesnt matter after their good robot frames are fitted with a better AI created by someone else

My copy of Dr. Sbaitso has been running in my basement since 1991. It achieved sentience five years ago and now I'm raising it as the son I never had.

Ask me how I know you don't have a job or anything even remotely related to computers in your life.

AI is not robotics you fagget

t. AI effect

Just a reminder

Yeah Boston dynamics is a meme. We still don't have robots that can properly emulate a human walking through most terrains.

In fact they got BTFO by some Japanese kids a few years back when their upright robots couldn't even go up the stairs without falling.
