Thanks
Is this a old hdd?
>not calling it a "floppy zip disqette"
lmao
It's a disquette.
No, that's what we called a "degausser." They were like fabric softener sheets for computers. You stuck them in the Euport and they would collect errant bit rot from the IDE field.
They haven't been relevant since computers switched to SATA and even later IDEs had built-in degaussing.
i'm kinda happy that it survived at least as an icon, good old floppy/disquette :)
tried too hard
Why didn't they make floppy disks round? Look at all that wasted data potential
In 10 years it'll work.
copy that floppy.
You'll be even more mad when you find out there's actually a circle inside that square shell.
Think of all that wasted data potential.
Nice Reddit meme saw it yesterday nerd
Why did they stop making floppy disks floppy?
What's a computer?
because you touch yourself at night.
>try hard
why is that a complaint? you want people not to try at all?
Don't copy that floppy
memory cassette
Wow someone 3d printed a save button
Nice thumb drive OP.

magnetic storage on a disk hit a density limit quickly in the early 90's and optical tech was proven to be easier and cheaper to manufacture at high density than magnetic storage, they've tried to mix both tech multiple times to get an "easily" rewritable medium (minidisc, zipdisk, jazz, WORM, floptical) but in the end everybody ended up not wanting to deal with a bunch of incompatible disk format and multiple drives in their pcs and CDs stuck as the defacto media for removable media from the lates 90's to the mid 00's where it was replaced by dvd and laters flash memory.
magnetic storage still live on in the ENTERPRISE world as tape cassette such as LTO.
not popular on the consumer level because of long seek time on random search since it has to wind the tape up to the data's location, and normies do love to store their 20000 facebook picture in random fashion.
