Any news about the interpolation++ algorithm?
Can mpv switch on/off hdr like madvr?

You might be able to use cycle-values
Personally I'd just use MadVr for HDR content though, whatever he's done to hable looks fantastic. Although some detail appears to be lost

Mpv lacks a lot of hdr stuffs to compete with the latest madvr release. Plus, mpv is not projector friendly. :(
forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1832859#post1832859

Brainlet here,

Can anyone help me configure MPV to automatically queue the next file in a given directory?

For example, playing files in pic related in order.

Don't you need the autoload.lua script?

>hanna keeps insulting Sup Forums
>b-but foss forever
>still shilling mpv
madVR FOSS release when?

But I insult Sup Forums too.

Is mpv native on wayland?

Not anymore. :(

Yeah its had a wayland backend for ages.
gpu-context=wayland

Helloooooo madshi.
Why not forking mpv and add a proper madvr support?

Does anyone know how to make mpv display the full path on the top bar? Like top of pic related with VLC.
I'm using an old version from the ubuntu repo (0.14.0) but the option might still be there.

>0.14.0
Holy fucking shit. Find a PPA or something and update your shit.

Alright I have 0.28.0 now, but my question still stands. I've read the docs and couldn't find an option to display the full path.

Should I configure MPV? I've been using it with stick setup for years

Yeah sorry I have no idea about that one.

At least put profile=gpu-hq
If you're running a toaster add deband=no

title=${path}

mpv *.mkv?

Hi, newbie here. May I assume the difference between profile=opengl-hq and profile=gpu-hq is the propietary drivers? I only had an overall look at config files so my apologies if I say something retarded.

There's zero difference other than a name change. gpu-hq is the newer one.

It's all you need.

The only difference is the name

Oh, I see. It doesn't mean that the newer one would have better effects in some ways?

Oh, they are literally the same. Why there are 2 differents name then?

opengl-hq is being replaced because mpv introduced vulkan

opengl-hq will eventually be removed. The logic behind the change is that mpv can use more than just opengl now (like Vulkan).

Sounds logic. Thank you anons.

I just had the settings the Arch Wiki offers, am I good with that or should I research a little more?

madFoss when?

noob questions

why can i play 4k 60fps on youtube without dropping frames but this is unplayable?

why are hdr screenshots washed out? do they look washed out on an hdr monitor?

How do I toggle the auto ratio scaling?

I need my letterboxes.

The youtube videos are shits...

Haasn is on another project, libplacebo.
so all the new stuffs like hdr support is in standby.

Maybe you can help me out a little further, here's what I'm trying to accomplish:
Open a set of files like this: mpv */*, its a 2-level directory with subfolders, and have it display the full path of each file on the top.
Your option works but idk how to make it show the title for each file. I've tried this:
for file in */*; do mpv --title=$file $file; done
but this opens a new window each time, and I want them to be in a 'playlist'.

Aspect ratio?
ctrl+a cycle-values video-aspect "16:9" "16:10" "4:3" "2.35:1" "-1"

mpv uses software decoding by default. You may need to use hwdec=auto or whatever you want.

I dont use HDR so I don't know if it's relevant but
s takes a raw screenshot with no filters or upscaling
ctrl+s will take screenshits with filters and upscaling

libplacebo hdr looks better.

>2018
>still not using ctrl + s to take screenshot

Prove it, I think you are just a liar.
Did you test the latest madvr release?

Tell us what you did to improve speed of FSRCNN first.

I removed the slow part of it... :D

Newbie here again. I've been searching but I can't find the hotkey to show the details like this user I thought it will be the OSD one but it doesn't.

press i

Nothing pops up. May I have a link or the name of the shortcut, please?

shift+i makes it stay. Press 2 to go to 2nd page.

i script-binding stats/display-stats
I script-binding stats/display-stats-toggle

Is your mpv version old?

Nope, version mpv-0.27.0_5 following my pkg manager. Tried adding it manually and nothing pops up either.

Maybe I'm missing that I should have some script beforehand? I was assuming this kind of info was already at disposal.

Either update or add the stats script

Stats was included with mpv in 0.28

You can download it here github.com/Argon-/mpv-stats

Ooooh, so this is what I was missing. Thank you again anons, you're being really friendly tonight.

ctrl+a, drop into mpv from the first episode

works on my machine

Never. Madshi is, in his own words, "too selfish" to make a FOSS version of madVR. If he made it FOSS, he wouldn't be able to work up the motivation to contribute to it.
forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=223175&pid=2172683#pid2172683

This is what bugs me the most about non-FOSS hobbyist freeware. The developer always has some weird ego issues that prevent them from from releasing their source code, even though releasing the code would create tangible benefit for the community.

Trying to get vulkan working.
I've installed shaderc from github (github.com/antiagainst/shaderc) but
mpv --spirv-compiler=help
only gives me auto and nvidia as options, both of which return
[vo/gpu/vulkan] Failed initializing SPIR-V compiler!
(I'm on intel).
Shaderc is in /opt/; I'm pretty sure I installed the library correctly - I copied libshaderc_shared.so to /usr/lib and then ran
sudo ldconfig -n -v /usr/lib
What am I missing? Do I need to rebuild mpv? Did I not install it correctly? Do I need to make a symlink for something?

Are those similar to the ego issues some people have where they feel entitled to other people's source code?

Is dscale=gaussian better than mitchell for latest SSIMDownscaler?

No? Why would it? SSIM is supposed to be used with Mitchell.

Not really, no. There are practical benefits to FOSS that affect everyone in the community. For example, if madVR was FOSS, its remote control protocol could be audited for security flaws. The only person who benefits from madVR being closed source is madshi, and he doesn't benefit in a practical way, only in the weird way where he gets a kick out of people using software with his name on it.

Also, using the "both sides of the argument are equivalent" argument is stupid and you should feel stupid. It's not egotistical in any sense of the word to want to study the source code of the software you use, especially if you want everyone to be granted that right.

Check igv gists

Ooh. I guess so. I trust igv!

yes

madVR BTFO once again.

I'm coming from MPC-HC, is there a retards guide for mpv? I'm on windows if that helps.

>Do I need to rebuild mpv?
yes

Download it and associate the file type you want to open with mpv manually.

You need to configure it? Create a mpv.conf where mpv.exe lies. You want to use scripts? Create a scripts folder there as well and put your scripts there. Want to use shaders? Create a shaders folder. Just besure to add those shader files in your conf file.

Want to know how to configure? Use google/read manual that comes inside /doc/ folder.

Gaussian dscale is the new meme. Poozoor will be happy.

opengl-backend=wayland

Ok, so tell me your grand plan for madshi then. If you want him to open source madVR, how is he supposed to earn his living? Should he do it like wm4, and get hired (and then fired) by Plex? Or should he pay his rent with $22 per month from Patreon (see haasn)?

should i mess around with frontends like mpc-qt or just stick with basic mpv?

What are you talking about? Despite having plans to sell a paid version, madshi has made a hot $0 from madVR so far. mpv has actually been more successful at monetizing with the FOSS model. Maybe madshi should try it. Building FOSS software makes you more employable because it proves that you can write high quality code and you can work with other people. Yeah, wm4 got laid off, but not before making at least two years of wages, which is more than madshi will ever make from madVR. If he is really keeping madVR closed source because of plans to monetize it and not just because being the sole developer of niche software is good for his ego, it's time for him to give up.

Literally nobody does closed source for the money. Closed source software is always either

1. Ego / Power play
2. Hiding bugs / bad code
3. Legal bullshit

I have a video with mono audio panned to the left, is there a way to make mpv duplicate that audio to the right?

--audio-channels=mono

das it mane

gui for video players are a meme.

Once setup, all you need is arrow keys(skipping) and space bar (play/pause)

Just learn the shortcut keys for changing (subs/audio) and you're set.

Is there a way to set a time to prefetch in the next file in the playlist with prefetch-playlist=yes ?

The default behavior is different from the cache behavior and it only prefetches about ~30 seconds of the next file. I'd rather have it prefetch at least 2 minutes.

cache-secs=120

Doesn't work for prefetch-playlist

Still no go. I'm using the mpv-build (github.com/mpv-player/mpv-build), do the scripts pehaps not yet support shaderc? If that's not the case the most likely issue (considering my limited linux knowledge) is that I didn't install the library properly.

Is it possible to get mpv to run in a framebuffer like mplayer currently can?

Is there any way to make mpv play 10 bit 4K HEVC files on a two years old laptop that has no support for hardware decoding of HEVC (4th gen i7 and gtx 860m)? Normal 4K movies play just fine.

The shaderc check requires two things:

1. shaderc/shaderc.h needs to exist in your include paths
2. shaderc_shared.so needs to exist in your library paths (alternatively, sharedc_combined.a)

Somebody should submit a PR to migrate the check to pkg-config

But why.

Because I have an external 4K screen hooked up to it and I can't find any torrents of some movies that are not HEVC.

Seems the issue was with my shaderc, I reinstalled it and things seem to work fine now. Thanks user.

-vo drm ?

Madshi earned a lot of money selling his NGU and SDR to HDR algo licenses to cinema/advert studios, he earned much more than wm4 and haasn.
People that says closed source is useless are jobless or retarded.

>Madshi earned a lot of money selling his NGU
citation needed

you are missing out on hardware accel
vo=opengl
opengl-backend=drm

How do you know how much money madshi has made with madVR so far? Do you have access to his books? From what I can see, there are a couple of commercial media players out there which ship with madVR. It's quite possible that they're paying for that, maybe even yearly fees or something.

Looking at madshi's website, he seems to have his own company, selling his own software. People like that usually don't search for employment.

You got that backwards. Most companies which are in the business of selling software are doing closed source.

New SSIM with gaussian dscale looks better than what I can produce in madvr. Impressive.

how do i get the webm script to put the filename in the metadata?

Prove it, padawan!

With ravu?

Should I use linux or windows?

Is it faster?

Is it possible to use exclusive fullscreen on windows with mpv?
The madVR is 10ms faster on my machine with it.

>two keys for screenshots
>not putting any F* for just one key goodness

Any of you use big caches?

Guys help me, is there a way to open up the cmd when playing an audio file? I already know about force-window, but it doesn't cover cmd.

>--ontop
>On Windows, if combined with fullscreen mode, this causes mpv to be treated as exclusive fullscreen window that bypasses the Desktop Window Manager.
