Fuck minimum wagecucking

20 y/o and realized jumping straight into the workforce sucks. Is community college worth it for stem jobs Sup Forums? Or should I try my hand at universities from the start and going into debt with student loans?

become a plumber or a welder

Whatever you do, and this is advice Sup Forums NEGLECTED to share with me some seven or so years ago when I was deciding whether or not to attend university is that you really need to make sure it's for you first. Sure wagecucking is abysmal, it's not far off from actual torture at times but it's a whole lot better than being in debt for a degree you weren't even able to finish, just something to consider.

Go to community
Get your basic associates
Go to Uni
Get your Degree and Internships

as a biochem major i can tell you that absolutely no one wants to hire you for _anything_ if you don't have a b.s., so there are no helpful 'entry level' jobs along the way and people will absolutely not care if you live or die

good luck
you'll need it
I'm in the same boat as you
I plan to go to community college for two years then transfer to uni to get bachelors in comp sci. Doing two years at community will cut cost down a lot and if you go to an in state school you can cut tuition down quite a bit. You'll still have some debt but not anything abysmal. But like said make sure it's actually what you want to do. Since community college is so cheap I suggest enrolling and if it's unbearable you can drop out or study a trade without having lost much.

Go trade jobs.

You can get a construction job and go to community college for something.

I went to community college and my first job paid $62k/year. Not bad since I got the degree for free.

This.
Very this.

People make fun of the trades all the time, but they pay and pay well.
A regular-ass welder is earning more than than most programmers.
A boilermaker is earning cash they never though possible.

If you had the aptitude for wealth creation through investment/stocks/currency/etc - you'd already be worth several million. So you don't. (don't take that hasrshly, 99% of people don't)
If you had the aptidue for the sciences, you'd already be in University.

You can either choose to wageslave in:
- Shit retail
- Some office where you'll end up hating not only everyone around you, but yourself too
- A Trade where you might even be your own damn boss.

Yeah, but this route isn't for everybody either. If you're a nigger or a woman, don't have the physical aptitude, and if you don't want cancer or a shot back by the time you're 45 and get an apprentice of your own, it's really not a good deal.

Community college is worth it. Many have special programs that universities don't, like certifications for medical assistants, dental assistants, paramedics, medical coders, nursing, etc.

If you don't like any of those, you can get your general education requirements for your state university out of the way.

Trade school is also an option.

don't fall for the college meme, op. you're still young and you have time, but it doesn't mean you have to waste it. follow your passion through online courses and every other online resource, learn whatever you want and make something good with that knowledge. depending on your interests you'll be employable much faster.

My father worked as a carpenter - no further academic education. Now he has his own shop, employs 16 people - 15 workers and one secretary - and they built custom high end furniture. We did the math a year ago and his earnings would be the equivalent of a monthly wage of €11000 each month.

I went to law school, graduated 'sub auspiciis Praesidentis rei publicae' which is the Austrian equivalent to summa cum laude, got a job right out of the gate and 4 years in I'm earning €3100/ month.

yes my community college wasn't that bad , they have all the entry level courses that your forgot about or never took ap high school

> guy needs a job
> instead let's post a website for people who don't want to visit websites
fucking sperg

I would recommend trades or online learning + maybe certs if you have to

What the hell is a medical coder?

You take medical lingo and transform it into universal medical "codes" that are used for billing, documentation, etc.

How? Nobody can tell me how to acquire these skills. Seems everyone I know who got into a trade went to a technical high school where they earned their apprenticeship before they graduated. I don't know where you go to do a trade that doesn't cost a fortune (trade schools are cheap relative to uni but still too expensive to afford on minimum wage) if you didn't do it in high school.

Sounds like a job a computer can do.

It's worth taking out student loans to go to a trade school.
Don't worry about not going to a technical high school. It's not a race.

It sounds like a job a computer could do 90% of the time, with disastrous consequences the other 10% of the time.

And if for whatever reason you did poorly and are having trouble finding a job? You won't be able to afford loan payments and you probably don't even get the six month grace period any more since I think the government got rid of that, not that I'm certain it ever applied to trade schools anyway.

People like to claim that natural selection has stopped ever since we started providing treatment for genetic illnesses, but it's alive and well.
If you're too stupid or inept to interact with people well enough to land a job or find your own source of income, it's your own fault.

Well, user, sometimes you have to take risks and work hard. Don't do poorly and you won't have anything to worry about.

I'm only interested in zero risk investments. My money is precious and limited. I want to be 100% sure anything I pay for will lead to a positive outcome.

I'd do a trade, I regret going to uni. Waste of time and money.

I got my cert from two semesters at a community college. Its mostly just practice in a welding booth. Probably some kind of safety training. Mine was nccer

Join the military, then. You'll be 100% sure you'll have a job, and your training will be paid for.

Though I'll also guarantee that you'd be far better off going into debt to go to trade school or community college instead.

Depends on what you do in the Military.
Solidering is always going to be soldiering.

But the Military requires trades too and typically pay for your schooling to boot.

>zero risk investments
good luck with that man. you assume risk the moment you get out of bed.

It's crazy that a military career has less risk than getting civilian tertiary education.

>If you had the aptidue for the sciences, you'd already be in University.
What kind of shitty logic is this?

Learn a technical skill online. Example might be a linux admin certification from LPI or Linux Foundation. You can go at your own pace and be examined when it suits you. Also costs a lot less than college/uni.

Usually you'll feel like shit after working 8+ hours and won't want to study anything. The solution is to do your studying before you go to work, when your brain is in best shape. Get up 3 hours earlier than you normally would and go to be earlier. Don't waste your brain's best hours on your employer.
