What's the most you've ever run off a single outlet?

What's the most you've ever run off a single outlet?

I have one grounded outlet in my room, up near the lightswitch, thinking of running all this off of it:
- UPS
- desktop PC + speakers + monitor + etc.
- separate smaller machine for NAS (got memed into wanting one)
- old cisco switch + a router

It's an older house so it's prob just 15A, but I'm assuming that's more than enough

Not enough information. What's the total wattage of the devices you'd like to power? Is it in fact a 15amp outlet? What else is on the circuit?

1875-watt hair dryer.

What does it matter if you plug fifty low-power devices into one outlet?

The most I'm running from one outlet is when I use all the zones on my stove, for 6.5 kW.

>What's the most you've ever run off a single outlet?
Tweezers.

And nuke-plug (direct short in a plug)

I had all my pc shit plugged in, plus an electric heater. I tried plugging in the vacuum cleaner too but it tripped the breaker

>What does it matter if you plug fifty low-power devices into one outlet?

It doesn't, which is why I hate fear mongering that stuff like this is bad.

Learn to look up the gauges of wire you use and add up the amps.

Outlet or loop? The outlet number doesn't matter when the whole room is on a single loop/breaker.

>Power meter -> type 2 surge protector -> circuit breaker -> outlet -> SM filter -> UPS -> isolation transformer -> grounded Faraday cage -> PC

Anything less is asking for your shit to get wreaked.

Caused a fire at work by running 2 full racks off 2x 240V wall outlets

>dat power factor

Saws and compressors that draw enough to trip the breaker.
Those aside, I once hooked up a microwave transformer to a fluorescent tube, and it drew enough power to cause the 14 ga cord to get hot. Kind of scary that it didn't trip the breaker.

I think some people are confusing the question of "single outlet" with "single breaker" because, frankly the qurstion was written poorly enough to show the lack of knowledge.

in terms of most items regardless of power consumption, it's probably the plug in the living room behind the T.V.
I use an 8 plug surge protector to power the T.V, Cable box, Play Station, A/V receiver, 2nd power amp (for subs), a computer, a modem/router, and a small digital clock.

A few kilowatts.

Than again, I specifically installed wiring and high current outlets.

Does anywhere that's not North Pakistan use loop writing?

My oven, I think it's like 4500 watts.

Ovens use both phases so they're technically 2 outlets, not one.

Who is this semen demon?

Depends on the amperage and the circuit it's on. A 20 amp circuit could handle more than a 15 amp circuit for example. If you're running 240v instead of 120 you can effectively run twice as much because by doubling voltage you cut amperage in half

Nema S.

I've got three daisy chained powerstrips, not everything's on at the same time though, of course

Post your set ups and i'll do electrical calculations for voltage drop and how much amperage you actually have.

Hint a 15A outlet can't actually draw 15A, it shouldn't be loaded more than 80%, or around 12A, and also voltage drop is a factor that means your equipment will draw more amperage to compensate.
