listening to this again after having caught bits of it last month. normally i'm not into electronic and this is still no exception but this would be a completely different story if you threw in some songwriting into the mix. whether you or someone else you know does it, i'd love it to no bounds. In all seriousness, I hope you end up like James Blake, who was mainly an EDM producer before he ventured off and started creating billboard topping bangers. Looking forward to that release coming later this year btw.

>There is not much information available about this one except that the band is from the Netherlands and they make rock. The songs are mixed rather dryly, creating a cold and mechanic feeling which could work as music to some late 90s action movies.
Haha you know James Blakes new album came out today right? I'm listening to it now.
That being said I think you'd really like the new project I'm working on which this release was kind of B-sides from. I take huge inspiration from James Blake but my personal style is more like making a digital equivalent to shoegaze or slowcore. And my new project is hard to describe but yes there is singing but it's very bedroom pop-lo-fi esque but in a way the production is still the same (expect restructured for singing on) and Idk the best way I can describe this project is that if you mix what I do now with more piano, and make it lo-fi and supery dreamy with fuzzy guitars. Think early Beach House and James Blake's Enough Thunder. lyrically it's all about growth and change but kind of finding myself in a dark world, one my my friends said it sounds like the Weeknd which is someone I draw huge influence from, and I can see it. idk Think Karen O's Crush Songs mixed with the Weeknds Thrusday, yey never getting over 110 BPM with hints of James Blake, The Radio Dept and softer songs by The 1975. I honestly think I'm making something super unique, that hasn't really been done before.
Idk that's the best way I can describe my new project, I may release a single before summer's over which is when it's set to release I'm excited for everyone to here becuase I more or less have been working on this album for 2 years kind of. I'm super excited for everyone to hear it.

love a majority of this. i know i've told you before but this really is something special you've crafted here
I'm glad you like it, I wondered for quite a while if anyone would since it has some odd parts and mistakes (as the majority of my music is improvised).
so my final thoughts about this were basically that you handled the production very well. the distortion was kick ass, and the songwriting wasn't lacking in progression or melodies.
i will say that regardless of both those qualities, i wasn't necessarily in love with what i was hearing. not because it wasn't good but mostly because i've seen other bands who sound very similar (pink pot's first album comes to mind and he posts here often). i do think you have a lot of potential though, and am looking forward to whatever you have in store for us.

My new album, Bringing Up the Bodies, is out! It's fairly short, but I wanted to distil a certain style and sound in a concentrated manner. A lot of Trip Hop/Krautrock influence, as well as inspiration taken from Flying Lotus and the like and my usual fave Jazz artists (Davis, Coltrane, Maupin, Mingus, Liston Smith, Hubbard). Worked on over 3 months and going through many changes until I was finally happy. I really am.
Would love feedback as always. Check it out and lemme know what you reckon. Cheers x

from beautiful stuff as always. listen to you every time you pop up in these threads.
not really a black metal guy but i like the atmosphere you have going in this track. guitars sound good. listening to some of your other releases now.
this is fucking dope. the lofi sound works here and the vocals suit the style very well. very interesting sounds. like all those little percussive noises in kylo ren. digging the beat on tiny swords. followed,
cool vibe going on. vocals sound a little monotonous for my taste, but i get that's probably a stylistic choice given the whole depressive thing you're going for. i like the grainy guitar on track marks.
i like your style and the production sounds nice and rounded out. wish i knew shit about mixing and production. Synaesthesia is excellent.
seen you around before. couldn't agree more with the Grizzly Bear comparison. great stuff, reccd.

Thanks man! I'm getting to grips with Ableton at the moment having made my EP on Audacity so my mixing is not the best. Please could you (or someone else) explain a bit more clearly what the problem is and how I could fix it?
Your music sounds fine man. That's as useless of a criticism as someone saying The Flaming Lips' vocal mixing in The Terror were mixed improperly. As long as your artistic intention was what surfaced you accomplished your job
I want more. Now. Seriously dude, I hope you get working on an EP or album soon.
Hey man, thanks! Not gonna lie, Sufjan is an influence... we have a lot of similarities as people, funnily enough...
I'm listening to your track right now and it's great for a first track! The bass really made my chest heave in the beginning for some reason, and the guitar layers and tones are cool. First thing I'd fix is the balancing: the vocals and percussion are far too low in the mix, although maybe that's what you were going for...
Cheers man, I can always rely on you for a kind word. :) If I haven't already said so, I really dig your music! You're pioneering Christian Noise Folk!!
Also taking this opportunity to recommend this project:

Great experimental noise pop with lots of emotion.
thanks, really glad to hear it
"luma" is seriously crazy, i'm gunna be singing it for a while
thanks for the feedback, i'm checking out some of your glitchy stuff atm.
i'm kind of shy about my singing lol, i'm also using a built-in laptop microphone so if i mix the vocals too loud it sounds awful
Thanks for listening! What do you think about the instrumentals?
Oh man, laptop mics are the worst, so I don't blame you for mixing it low!! I've got my hands on a proper mic now, but for all the stuff on my bandcamp at the moment I just used an iPhone's voice memo app.
Also, don't be shy about your voice! If anything's going to make you stand out as a (singing) artist then it's something that is unique to you, even if you're influenced by other singers.

Our jam albums Zapadas vol 1 and 2 are selections of completely raw recordings and 100% improvised music made just for fun but are pretty nice albums in themselves
We're looking for someone out there to edit our next studio album in cassette somewhere out in the world. No profit intended. Just to put it out there. Anyone interested or willing to hook us up?
i'm afraid the only way i know how to talk about music is thru saying what other artists it reminds me of, but anyway
i like "my tears my love" it sounds like a cross between early panda bear (there's some glitchy electronic stuff on his s/t, amazing album if u haven't heard already) and it also reminds me of byetone and alva noto in the way that it's half noise half beats. very cool anyhow
That's ok, it's basically impossible to make something devoid of influence from other artists, so it can be very useful to relate music to other music.
I'm glad you've linked it to PB, seeing as I am a fan of his and think his S/T is hugely underrated as a piece of precocious juvenilia.
I'm not sure if I'll continue along the glitch route, however...
Looking for instrumental stuff focusing on just one one instrument, other than piano.
Jazz guitar or solo church organ maybe?
Yooo, thanks man. Just listened to some of your stuff the first time, the first two tracks off Sand Dealer, to be specific. Got the same androgynous singing voice thing going on as I do, which sounds really nice. Slick instrumentation, production, and songwriting. Only problem is you announced this EP too far in advance and now we have to wait two months haha.
Thanks for the rec. This track is all over the place instrumentally, so much going on. At first I wasn't that big on the video game-y synths but actually they fit pretty damn well into the busyness. I particularly liked when the more organic instruments came in, like with the piano in the middle and the strings at the very end. Cool stuff, unique, interested to hear more
Hey Jacob, I appreciate the support. Never really told you what I thought about Paw Paw's Songs (which I listened to a few weeks ago). Since last year with Hope in Hand, which is the first thing I listened to by you, your mixing and production have become a lot more consistent. With that album there were a lot of things in the songs I liked like your singing and guitar playing but some of the digital instruments and other sounds kinda threw me off. Paw Paw's Songs is a great, consistent release. The production feels pretty raw and lo-fi in a great way and there are a lot of really cool sounds and really good instrumentation, like that piano on Forgot Passion. Only thing I don't like is that there are too many interludes (or maybe the interludes just need to be longer, I dunno). Real great stuff though and I'm guessing things will only get better from here
"Jesus my Lord, if only the wait wasn't so long" amirite?
