Yeah me, she's a pretty interesting artist to follow. Visions is very very good, but Art Angels is superior probably solely because of Realiti, Flesh Without Blood and World Princess pt2
her discography is lit

By chance, did you listen to Darkbloom EP or rare stuff like Lethe EP?

I like her music but I really hate her fans.

all of them are good. art angels is her best.

why would you have a feeling towards her fans? i never understand this, like when every time tool comes up people mention their fanbase.

>Lethe EP
what is this? pre geidi primes?

Venus Fly is best song

Yep

Pretty much this. The waifufags kinda ruin it

I've got Lethe if anyone wants it

I want more songs like SCREAM and Eight

Yep.

Agreed. Eight is my shit

>I've got Lethe if anyone wants it
yes please

I've always liked colour of moonlight

>SCREAM
did i dream this or did i read somewhere she was doing another song with aristophanes?

I've listened to all of them, and I find my opinion changes each time I come back to them.

I fell in love with Halfaxa, then moved to Geidi Primes, but now I'm listening to Visions again and it is my current favorite.

I find what ruins her albums most for me are several 10/10 tracks followed up by a 6/10 or even sometimes a 3/10.

Overall, she is great.

>when every time tool comes up people mention their fanbase.
Because tool, while enjoyable, are something most people find paired with the fan base. I never have an urge to seek out Tool so when it shows up with such a horrid group of people I get a bad taste in my mouth. The fanbase surrounding Tool is the dopehead college student who just discovered cough syrup, and Karl Marx turned up to 11.

Yes. Grimes made a lot of non-album songs, some of them performed only live. You can find a really good download on Reddit: reddit.com/r/Grimes/comments/4g84rl/grimes_downloads_various_rare_collaborations/

(Lethe EP included)

I Loved EVERY song on Art Angels.

least one i liked was SCREAM but all the other songs were fucking awesome.

Visions was a super emotional album for me
i loved Skin especially the part when she says "And you can't, and you can't See the weight in the trees And you can't, and you can't See the weight of the leaves"etc was one of those grade a moments in an album

Halfaxa was really hard to get into but eventually understood it, was probably Hardest album of hers to click for me.

Alright, it'll just be a minute famalam

Any fan of her Ave Maria cover? picosong.com/KCXe

It's heartbreakingly beautiful IMO.

I just listened to Gambang and accidentally chewed a nail clean off

>I find what ruins her albums most for me are several 10/10 tracks followed up by a 6/10 or even sometimes a 3/10.
that was a problem i kinda had to with her but art angels is fucking consistent throughout
you don't have to lump yourself with anyone to enjoy something

When realiti plays it makes the rest of album just seem not as good and its kind of upsetting

I agree that Halfaxa is her most difficult album. The first half is more accessible than the second one, though.

As for SCREAM, there's an instrumental version (with screams included): picosong.com/KUfY

It may help you understand the song better.

Yeah exactly!
Realiti is an incredible song, same with David (currently unreleased but from the same period Realiti was made), my two absolute favourite grimes tracks t b h :^)

Sublime song youtube.com/watch?v=bWam7u9uBNY

And it's just 1 minute and a half.

realiti is so good, she was crazy for not wanting to put that on an album

I'm listening to Art Angels again after seeing the praise, and fuck I forgot how good this was.

And the problem isn't lumping yourself in with them. It's that in the rare cases when I listen to Tool on my own I am reminded of the fanbase which ruins the mood of the music for me. The same thing happened for me with the Beatles. I can't listen to them without being reminded of the fanbase that exists.

David was an overachiever, a glory hog. RIP

Speaking of Realiti, I really don't understand why many dismiss the album version. It may not be as good as the demo version, but it has some additional parts and the end it's amazing.

Art Angels is catchy as fuck if you get into it. It's a damn mind virus. :)

Someone did a studio version of David: youtube.com/watch?v=gbCQKudXzBE

>I find what ruins her albums most for me are several 10/10 tracks followed up by a 6/10 or even sometimes a 3/10.
I thought the same about those 6/10 and 3/10 tracks that you mention. But they grow on you after you listen to them enough times.

>I am reminded of the fanbase
you gotta stop caring man, can't keep yourself from enjoying shit just cuz you don't like the people who do

>Art Angels is catchy as fuck if you get into it. It's a damn mind virus. :)
i know right? it was all i listened to in my car for like 5 months

This really helps me appreciate the mixing of A.A., this is kind of painful to listen to tbch

>you gotta stop caring man
I know I do because both Tool and the Beatles have a large amount of music I actually enjoy.

>But they grow on you after you listen to them enough times.
This has been my experience with the majority of music commonly recommended here. Albums have gone from complete trash to 10/10 after repeated listens.

but art angels is the best one

ah thanks definitly gonna check that out

It's amateurish. Hopefully Grimes will not forget about David. She has 1 TB of unreleased music, hopefully she will release a B-sides/rarities compilation or something.

The instrumental is very Nine Inch Nails-like. I like that whistling sound that appears from time to time.

Sometimes the music that seems trash on a first listen becomes one of your favorites. People have short attention span these days, so many don't give a good artist a fair listen.

I'd guess a lot of it is samples and vocal takes, like scattered stuff

But among that unreleased stuff, there must be at least 20 complete songs, plus that scrapped album before Art Angels.

i thought she said there was no album?

Is she too critical of herself? I don't think it would really matter if something sucked if it was given away for free

>I don't think it would really matter if something sucked if it was given away for free
well that explains all those death grips albums

It was.

>For one, she revealed that the project was never really “scrapped” as was widely reported. At the time, many thought the negative reaction to her single “Go”, originally written for Rihanna, led to Boucher trashing the entire album. “Basically, I was doing a bunch of stuff, and maybe a bit before ‘Go,’” she explained, noting that “Go” was never intended for the record anyway. “I was like, ‘You know, my life is getting a lot better. I’m going to put all this stuff on a hard drive and start again. There were just hundreds of songs — on this album that I’m making now, there’s at least a hundred songs that won’t make it onto this. I think all musicians have songs that don’t make it onto records.”

consequenceofsound.net/2015/07/grimes-talks-new-lp-scrapped-album-and-music-industry-sexism/

Yes, she too critical of herself. I bet she didn't release perfectly fine songs because she thought they're not good enough.

>there’s at least a hundred songs that won’t make it onto this
Just how many albums Claire could release...

Forgot to add this:

>Still, she implied that there is an album in this “lost” material and that she’ll “probably put it out for free at some point.”

Sorry it's taking so long, my connection is slow as tits

I already posted here a link to many rarities, bootlegs, instrumentals, collabs, unreleased stuff. Lethe is there too.

There we go

Ah shit, didn't see that. Oh well, there's two now

>mega.nz/#!BVtSzaAD!xDtIrN0E8qJnE9KqNeQDshplc5HImj0Y5Ute2mvsKq8
thanks familia

this isnt instrumental

the lyrics are still present

this is the instrumental version youtube.com/watch?v=f8erNc4n-zs

No worries my dude

My bad. I uploaded the wrong version. :/

is it good?

in your personal opinion that is

If you like Geidi Primes you'll find something you like about Lethe.
I personally enjoy it. You can definitely tell it's at the start of her career, but there's some good stuff there.

Like this user said, if you like Geidi Primes you will probably like this too. It's minimalist and dreamy.

I like Art Angels the most. The songs there are just so melodic.

The rest are pretty cool, but i don't see anything that special about them.

Cute music

art angels sounds like that 90s girl pop band b*witched

think about it

But that's lesbiancore

It doesn't sound at all. You're fooled by the bubbly vocals. Listen closely to the instrumentals. There's a lot of great stuff here.

As an example, how does this Kill V. Maim instrumental sound even remotely close to Bwitched? picosong.com/hvnB

Some may say it's Oblivion or Realiti.

Did you hear Ya Vas Lyubil? It's like a proto-Scream. youtube.com/watch?v=JiVPvFy69NY

no she is utter shit now
her early work isnt bad though

other way round, she's only now gitting gud

[stabs u in the chest]
