MOMMY MILKY

I'm thinking about getting Koss Porta Pros. I know that they are open, but can they be used in public at low volumes? Right now I just use my earbuds in public, but I wanted something more comfortable.
They don't really make much noise at a decent listening volume, but that's if you use them in a silent environment. In a noisy place like a bus, you will probably have to crank them to a volume high enough that other people around you could hear it.
Thanks. Do you have any ideas for small light headphones that might be better for using on a bus, or should I stick with my earbuds?
There's no alternative to in-ear earbuds or over-ear closed headphones for decent noise isolation. I prefer over-ear because I don't like things penetrating my ear canals.
super sonico mind?
Porta Pros are good headphones.
That's me.
Notice a pattern?
I just figured that there are a bunch of us with similar taste across Sup Forums.
Feet?
hello fellow guitarists, did you your pentatonic scale today ?
I love my TH-X00. Where would you guys recommend I go to get a detachable cable mod? I don't trust myself to do it.
Also, how do the ZMF Ori and Eikon pads sound on it? The stock pads are a little small for me.
Hi can I get a reccomendtion for a preamp please
>ATH-M50(x)
You can do better than that, Miku.
Maybe.
I has practice for a gig on Thursday.
I finally got my Massdrop Plus IEMs today, and so far I'm really digging them. They need a low-impedance source, but they're really clean sounding with some honest-to-god rumble in the lowest registers for 3BA units. Good separation and imaging, not quite holographic but damn good. Super-comfy, and I've still got a lot of tip-rolling to do, but I'd say that you'd be hard pressed to outdo these at the $299 pricepoint unless you absolutely must have DD bass or want a bright or strictly-reference signature. They really are an awful lot like people have described them, like a pair of Ety's with a good sub bass boost that doesn't bleed into the rest of the register. Not sure how they compare to the UERM though, as I've never tried those.
They're also not quite as clear/sparkly in the high end as the Andromeda, but if someone were looking for something similar to the Andromeda for a fraction of the price, these would be a great choice.
Anyanon have Stax 3100 package? Just got mine today, wondering if they need burnin..
The multidynamic soundscaping can definitely benefit from about 200 hours of pink noise.
Realizing you made a mistake yet?
pic with timestamp. also no, they don't require burn in
I was waiting for this. The proportion of self deluded audiophiles isn't that huge on /hpg/ compared to elsewhere, so the reactions to more summit-fi-ish gear is going to be good popcorn material with all the people buying a stax blind.
oh that's nice, I think the dude who reviewed 1k+ iems on head fi said that these were the absolute best thing ever under the kilobuck
Don't you mean the opposite, eh, cuckboy?
>summit-fi-ish
>Stax
K, kid
Well in terms of price point it is at least, no matter what your views on Stax are. I mean, the system this guy bought could have bought a used HD800 with the SDR mod.
I don't think that I'd make that claim, but they're definitely in the running. It's a "fun reference" signature, and they sound great for any price. I'm curious to see how long-term durability ends up, as they are just simple plastic shells and nozzles, but nothing about the build feels particularly cheap. I like them right out of the box, but I'll definitely going to enjoy getting used to these over the next couple of weeks.
>in terms of price point it is at least,
Isn't it like $1500 for headphones and amp wit the deal? Again no. HD800s alone are more and I consider them better than anything from Stax.
with*
But I already own hd800
Here’s my new l300 next to my Woo. They sound pretty nice so far.
>mfw I have that exact fender jaguar
Nah, so far pretty happy.
Also have some lcd-2
timestamp or gtfo
you probably haven't heard any of the headphones you're talking about, L300 is easily as good as the HD800 besides "soundstage".
and at $1500, the HD800 is a complete scam considering you can get the SR-007/009 used or a brand new L700 which will out perform the HD800 in every category.. the HD800 is only decent if you get a cheap one with SDR.
And hd650. Quite the pair with my Crack OTL
>mfw I can't even afford a fucking squier
can't practice my math rock tapping without a telecaster REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Timestamp..why? Here have a middle finger
Also have these.
which audio forum do you come from ?
>you probably haven't heard any of the headphones you're talking about, L300 is easily as good as the HD800 besides "soundstage".
Not Stax. I have no real interest in them when they are built like they are.
You can find SR009 on ebay new for around $2k on ebay sometimes. Doesn't mean much.
And their little brothers
Woops forgot pic
how good is the isolation in SHURE SE215? how durable are they?
Don’t. Got these too
I knew it was the same user! I've been noticing your/gg/
>math rock tapping
Listen to Girlfriends' s/t and BATS red in tooth and claw, then we can be besties
Then why even say that in the first place?
So nobody owns the l300 here? Got these too
Because they are better? I mean you can go ahead and think a headphone with literally (not the meme) glued on ear pads is good but not me.
The LE will be on it's way eventually ;)
Just put some g Cush on my Grados, subtle sonic but major comfort compared to old pads
Has anyone tried out the KZS6 iem's? I lost my beloved pair of kzs5's and now I'm looking for a cheap irm or headphone to replace them with. It seems like an upgraded version on the s5's I really enjoyed
Which do you consider your favorite among all your headphones and why is it the HD800?
we all got memed into the L300LE which will ship the end of this month, so we're only virtual owners for now
>it's
Fuck my fingers. I'm not an idiot, I swear.
I would like Grados more if that little metal piece didn't slip out of the shell/whatever you want to call it so easily.
Kek. Nice reasoning. Post your headphones
You talking bout the 80th anniversary?
No
;)
Speak for yourself, some of us are too broke and others just don't care to get electrostats. Only, like, 10-12 of us got memed.
>Only, like, 10-12 of us got memed.
So half of the daily posters.
Depends, hd650 with Crack is really suberb but...the hd850 with my Woo wa22 running fully balanced from source to cans is quite the thrill. Finally bought some Western Electric 421a and wish I would have sooner. I Have a Bottlehead S.E.X on order to build, looking forward to that
I think only 3-4 of us have actually bought the L300LE, we're just shitposting like mad 'cuz we want our ear-speakers
I got leather earpads and a leather headband for my dt770s a couple of months ago. The earpads are deeper than the stock pads, and my ears fit in them better. The headband cover is slightly larger than the stock headband, so it pushes out on the headband and reduces the clamping force. They didn't change the sound noticeably, but they are very comfortable.
Nice, how many bought the black energizer too?
>hd850
>balanced
>falling multiple times for the tube meme
time to go back to red dit
Anyanon have a Schitt Valhalla 2 then? Im looking to put these caps in mine to see if that open it up.
Let's just say I didn't not order the limited edition energizer.
So posters there actually have gear?
Vintage Soviet orthodynamic headphones look fun. Does anyone have experience using them?
wait I thought we were supposed to do the budget STAX end-game meme, not go full amp retarded mode
I saw elusivedisk was taking orders for the Limited edition but decided to try the 3100 before spending more monies
I know that's what was being pushed here but I couldn't resist.
Looking at how hard it was for current makers of planar to get some decent consistency on their production (lol early Audeze) I wouldn't expect anything from vintage planar. There's a reason why this technology got dropped in favor of dynamic driver for a long period of time.
Oh yeah, also have this el84 otl/transformer coupled lovely.
H-hi pls respond somewan
...
Phono too?
I don't have analog setup yet do no need for phono stage
I like using my Micca Origen+, but your mileage may vary based on personal preferences.
If you can solder this is a nice passive kit
bottlehead.com
What's the output impedance of it?
i spent too long making this.
10k
Sorry, 140 to 10k
I don't think it's compatible with my amp then. 19k/30kohm input impedance se/balanced. Would sound dead, no?
Yikes that's a big difference. Can you explain why that is?
Probably not gonna be ideal
In what scenario would I be able to get 140ohm output impedance out of it?
No, that’s just what’s listed on the info. There is a forum at Bottlehead.com that is very responsive if you want to get an answer.
I’m gonna guess it has to do with how the volume control is set.
Thank you kind and helpful user for not flipping out like the people from the last few threads...
>Got Akai 50x's
It's a step above clunky headsets, but I'm digging it
Now to replace my earbuds for outside
I don’t have personal experience with that preamp but I’ve built one of their OTL headphone amps and their forums are super helpful sussing out any problems etc. Going to build their SET amp whenever the kits get shipped out. Highly recommend em.
I wanted to get their 300b amp/pre for a while but I'm not up to the task of building something of that level. I also couldn't see or figure out what kind of transformers they supply. If you're looking into speaker amps, checkout the 300b amp that vkmusic sells. It's diy as well.
Oh god, stop trying to lure me into your threads when cute anime girls.
jesus christ just stop posting
How do you like the KZS6? Anything better for the price?
The instructions that came with the Crack were VERY detailed., good pics with exact amount of wire to cut/strip for each step. You don’t need to really understand anything beyond how to solder and how to use a DMM. I had an odd voltage reading and posted to the forum and within 20 mins had the issue resolved.
I just want an open headphone that has a detachable cable and good build quality, Is it that much too ask for?
