Why are you so behind?
>He doesn't put a Caddy in his laptop with an SSD
>He doesn't enjoy the feeling of having 2 drives in his laptop.
Why are you so behind?
>old Thinkpad from 2002 let you swap between a DVD drive, a floppy drive or an extra HDD in a caddy
>had a button on the side that you could press to pop out whatever was in the drive bay and swap in something else while the laptop was running
Do they still have that on any laptops now?
> laptop
x220 has no drive bay desu
>he doesn't enjoy the feeling of having a sata and m.2 drive
why are you so behind?
>HE DOESN'T BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP
kys
msata faggot
>T440p from 2014
>wished it did that
>OS still seemed to think caddy HDD was 'removable'
>remove screw bracket from the back of the caddy and put a little tab of tape sticking out the front
>now I have swappable HDD and DVD drives
Still no floppy or battery modules, but who uses floppies now and I have the 9 cell battery already.
>his laptop doesn't have two 2.5" bays by default and one optical bay
How does it feel to be so pleb?
>he
How fucking dare you assume my gender?
There are no women on the internet and faggots are still men
dankpad does
>Try to swap DVD drive for HDD caddy
>Screws on DVD drive turn out to be softer than cream cheese
Oh well, I guess I still rip DVDs on occasion...
Or boot a live CD...
>Tfw one m.2, one 2.5 SDD and one HDD drive.
please post tits I haven't seen a woman in so long please don't leave
>He doesnt replace le DVD drives with a battery expansion pack mod
>He uses it for SSD instead
Gahahaha
Why you need so much data on lappy
Dont you have a superior desktop for such plus moar
Enjoy being a laptop shill with 2hrs battery laifu
Who is that fluid druid?
Even my shitty Acer has a free m.2 slot. If you need this you were scammed.
I have that in my Thinkpad T420. It's bretty gud. Have a 120GB SSD as primary drive and a WD Black 320GB fully encrypted for any volatile or private data.
Fucking nigger stole my last thinkpad. I'll mist that T61. Learned the hard way to encrypt everything if it's a mobile device. Most good laptops these days have an m.2 slot AND a single 2.5" bay so it's all good.
Or, you know, the laptop predates M.2
Mine does.
Here are some boobies.
>he doesn't buy new technology to replace every single thing every 3 months
Why are you even on Sup Forums?
Why would you use an old laptop. Energy efficiency is the only thing that's been improving for the last few CPU generations.
Here's a pair of tits
gotta change out the CD drive of my T60 for one of these babies, or an UltraBay battery
I do this for data segregation when contracting it's saved my bacon more than once
I don't even screw them in anymore i change them so ofteb
Because my current laptop fits my needs and still gets a 4 hour battery life.
Too much of a bitch to bother doing it to my PowerBook G4 and my other laptops don't have 5.25" bays
I've got a Dell like that. It's got two 5.25" bays and both can take optical/floppy drives or batteries, so without any drives you could have three batteries total.
Got one for a hard drive. Should I be concerned that it doesnt fit super well?
it's just sata passthrough.
Calm your mantits, boys. That's a girl (male). Pronouns xe/xer. Xe probably has a cute feminine penis.
Did you remove a smartcard reader or a blank as well as a DVD drive to get that in there?
If it works, it works. Pad it with a bit of cardboard or plastic if you're worried about wiggle room.
because i hate large laptops, my man.
besides i like dvd movies lol
what a loser
Just removed the cd drive
>Using an ultrabay battery
LMAO. Too sissy for a thick "slice" battery, homeboy?
Why not both?
>OS still seemed to think caddy HDD was 'removable'
This is your chipset drivers and not an OS.
>wanting a cuckaddy in his laptop
>not buying a better ssd instead
>not both
These things are a pain in the ass to remove btw
>ssd for a secondary drive
lmao
SSD are for booting, I put a 1TB HDD in my ultrabay for data
What's the difference if they both have SATA 3.0?
It's less work to just put the SSD in the caddy.
Try placing a thin rubber band between the screwdriver and screw.
SSD uses less power that's why brainlet
not the user you replied but you should research before you talk.
I did. Back in 2012 with a MBP for two SSD's in RAID.
But this is 2018. What laptop that's remotely capable (no, not your 2009 chinkpads) has a optical drive?
>hURRRR LET ME BRIBG MY DESKTOP PC EVERYWHWRE I GO DURR
>But this is 2018. What laptop that's remotely capable (no, not your 2009 chinkpads) has a optical drive?
HP Pavilion DV7-1261WM
>DV7-1261WM
That came from 2008
what kind of poverty battery do you have that one (1) drive significantly impacts the time between charges? as an adult with a job, i'm free to choose a drive with more data per dollar
>leaving home other than to work
It's far to late for that. The screw head is literal a smooth dimple, nothing to grip.
It was by far the softest screw I've ever had the misfortune of trying to remove.
I'm going to have to drill it out if I ever want to remove it.
>leaving home
What the fuck is going on in that pic, does she have a dick or what
Also
>not having an ebin memepad to hack the CIA on the go
you bought the wrong one yout idiot, get another one with the right size.
I have a caddy on my t430 but only because this shit only takes 7mm drives and I don't trust them so I got a caddy and I put my good ol' 9mm drive in there while thinking FUCK YOU chinknovo for making the drive bay so small you fucking fucks the laptop is massive you didn't need to shrink that you morons
>having a laptop big enough to have a caddy to the point it's not even portable
no thanks i'm good with my ultrabooks. i have a real computer and a server for anything serious. HDDs in a portable device is an incredibly poor idea in the first place and add far too much weight. it's time to leave 2005 user.
>He doesn't use the msata slot along with the sata and caddy
>He doesn't enjoy the feeling of having 3 drives in his laptop.
Well shit mang. Let's try the ASUS ROG GL553VE then. It's got an i7-7700HQ, 16 GB RAM, 256GB SSD+1TB HDD, a 1050Ti... and a Blu-Ray drive.
I'm pretty sure a laptop that takes an extended main battery, a slice battery, and an ultrabay battery does not exist. My ThinkPad supports the former two but not the latter.
its his thumb.
>he doesn't use laptop because he's not a faggot
>he uses m2 + 5 HDDs
>girl (male)
>Pronouns xe/xer
no such thing
>feminine penis
no such thing
model name now!
think it depends on your device desu I have a dell inspiron and put one of these in I didn't put the screw in so I can swap out the HDD bay for a disk drive in about 2 seconds if I ever need to
>bragging about 1tb
All I can tell you is that they were early 2000s Inspirons
Don't foget the Latitude and XPS could also do this.
>Hard Disk Drive drive
>bought a chinkshit optical drive caddy for my 2tb HDD
>it isn't flush with the rest of the case
What are some good ways to commit suicide?
>Why would you use an old laptop.
>Energy efficiency is the only thing that's been improving for the last few CPU generations
I have 2 jobs you nub cake.
why watse battery on any device?
I have 2 kids and a wife, home and car of my own.
I'm fine thanks for the empathy user but i don't need it thanks.
Money?
I own 3 mid range laptops and a high end desktop
Your fucking nothing to me man child.
I'm also alot better hacker than chumps here playing around with freetrad crap.
true. But i have made some laptops more power effeint by changing out storeage and changing indexing.
CF cards are a great and under used application of hardware for saving power.
Enjoy your sata 2 speeds in Ultrabay. If you want fast solid state storage in older laptops, msata exists.
>Not having 2.5 ssd's and an msata
SAD
>His laptop didnt come out of the factory with dual ssd's in raid
>mfw been doing this for 7 years
weak
I'm using SATA II in my desktop right now, could be faster but still a lot better than an HDD
I bought a cheap laptop with no DVD so I am not going to spend an extra $250 for a 1TB SSD and USB3 is fast for external storage.
My T430 does that without a problem.
Why are you guys this degenerate? Do you not like doing anything outside?
The main problem is that you have nothing to grab it. I managed to remove mine to clean the laptop with a papaer clip, but it was not easy.
Hardware raid is shit.
Use BTRFS or ZFS.
>Implying
Way ahead of you OP
Yeah usually sites will use girl_(male) so it's counted as a single tag.
My X200 doesn't have an optical bay, but I can put one in the bay
>if you got the bay, you gotta know de way.
>be me with 420
>replace HDD with SSD
>buy HDD caddy
>put the HDD in caddy
>never use it
>remove HDD putting back just the caddy
That's my story with a HDD caddy. Don't use the laptop as my main though, so I'm fine with the 60GB SSD space I have(120GB SSD but dual booted with Windows 8).
can you actually put an msata into a t420's wwan slot?
>Implying
