I'm pretty sure I got screwed over. Anyone able to confirm?

This battery came with the laptop. Seller did advertise that original battery had been used extensively.

Good battery...

Questionable battery...

Questionable battery...

Anyways I'm going to return it, I know it's not OEM but I thought 3rd party suppliers of something as simple as a battery wouldn't have any issues. Is it this way with all 3rd party suppliers (in regards to laptop batteries)? Do I really need to buy directly from Dell (or at least genuine second hand Dell)? Are there any cheaper 3rd party suppliers that can make a legitimate 93WH Latitude battery?

*97WH

Bought a battery for a crappy Thinkpad Edge on ebay and it's blocked by the battery DRM Lenovo put it in.
Battery works fine, but at boot it is blocked and doesn't connect and/or charge.

Funny thing is, seldomly it does connect (it skips DRM somehow), carges up and works just fine up until you either let it run completely dry or disconnect the battery.

It's probably an original shell with new cells inside desu

That's pretty much the Dame situation with this battery. I heard about the Lenovo battery DRM bullshit and for that reason and a few other reasons went with Dell. Thought I wouldn't have to deal with the same bullshit... did your 3rd party Lenovo battery actually match the advertised WH?

I'm pretty sure it's not, look at the original battery. It has a raised Dell logo at the bottom. The questionable battery does not.

*Same...lol sorry, doing night shift got off a little early and an already about 4 beers deep.

I never checked since I always used it with cord and without battery. When the battery started working I was already so used to not having a battery I didn't look into it.

I'm on a different laptop now, Clevo P651 with 6700 and a 1060.
This one has a different problem though, the display sometimes doesn't connect at all. Extended display works, but the main panel is gone completely. I think it's a faulty edp cable. I opened the laptop, reconnected the cable on both sides and haven't had a problem since.

Oh and most of the time I get a consistent flashing orange battery light with the knock off.

Total guess, but maybe you need to install new drivers/firmware/modules so your computer can recognize it. I'm not that familiar with those aspects of the Linux kernel (I use Ubuntu desu) but I have had problems that were fixed by manually installing or configuring something along those lines

I was thinking about getting a Clevo. Love how they use non propriety MXM graphics, wish that was an industry standard. Heard they were flimsy and had aux audio problems. How's your experience been aside from the display problem? How long have you had them?

The questionable battery has a dead cell.Look at the voltage - that usually is a dead giveaway

That sounds reasonable. Hold on lemme check.

Idk why I halfway went through the same replacement process ugh. Yeah the good one reports 12.3 and the bad one reports 10.7. Well now I at least have done recourse in case the seller gets petty. Anyway original question still stands, am I good with a 3rd party battery supplier for an e6430 Latitude or should I just go with genuine?

*have some recourse

A year now, price-performance is great but the thing is loud.
It doesn't get that hot (around 70C during load) but the fan control is complete garbage.

I have one with an LG 1080p IPS panel and the colour/contrast on it is amazing.
The power supply is bulky as fuck as well.

I bought it during an exchange semester so I primarily used it as a desktop in my student room. Now I'm doing some freelance work and use it as my work machine, some people complain about the fan noise but no one has killed me yet.

Lol well if it makes you feel any better the Dell brick is pretty bulky as well.

Actually kinda nice during the winter, when it's under load I use it as a foot warmer lol.

Mmmmm comfy haha
