Great.
What's new?

>3.0.0"
you're a bit late
Sup Forums uses mpv now, you didn't get the memo
??
See you retard. The link I posted is official.
Can't find change log
>go to site
>most recent version is 2.2.8
VLC 3 definitely feels fresh, with a truckload of changes to the core, decoders & demuxers.
too late though, since (generally speaking) mpv is the go-to-player for most people.
does it finally have gapless playback?
Literally nobody uses mpv, not even Linuxfags let alone normies. There's a reason VLC wiped the floor with other players in that Ubuntu survey.
I'm sure you can tell them to put more cock FOR YOU in the next version.
I found the github. You are rude
But VLC normies don't give a single fuck about updates.
i've remember reading a thread a long while ago that talked about how mpv killed of mpc-hc, since most of the mpv-hc devs went mpv. and there was a chatlog, so i'm fairly sure it was the real deal.
Audio for some reason is missing half the spectrum.
Guess it's back to 2.2.8
doesn't this release have some rendering library that makes mpv obsolete?
found this list of changes on ghacks:
ghacks.net/2018/02/07/vlc-3-0-media-player-release/
That's a beta release dipshit
do a clickable link next time
Nice. I wish VLC was relevant so I could care.
Install 4chanx
it's clickable for me, since i know how to use 4chanx
>using browser extensions
>ever
Not that isn't a retard, of course.
>intentionally avoiding useful features
FLOOOOOEEEEEEEEEENNSSSSS
If it's so useful that I would actually install it, it better be a standalone program that works on any Windows version. Not a fucking extension that could easily break with the next browser update.
>extension
It's just a fucking userscript.
>A userscript (or user script) is a program, usually written in JavaScript, for modifying web pages to augment browsing. They are enabled in browsers by use of a userscript manager browser extension.
smplayer+mpv still the best
Chrome can use userscripts without any manager extensions.
Chrome has well defined api which makes it basically impossible for an extension to break after a browser update.
Firefox switched to a similar api that also makes it basically impossible for an extension to break after a browser update. Sup Forums spreged about it pretty hard a few months ago, where were you?
>link doesn't say nightlies
>beta release
Does it have Hidpi support?
Does it have proper chromecast support now?
Oh good, that software I don't use has been updated.
Is it good ?
And yet you take the time to comment.
>3.0.0
lol pleb
just in time. I could stream the winter olypmics on 3.0 when I couldn't before. Thanks OP.
Can VLC finally play h.265 videos without seeking for 5 seconds when jumping to a new part in the movie? MPC-HC did this instantly but it's abandonware atm
switched to mpv a while ago, sorry
I'll go back to VLC if they bring back FluidSynth
>MPC-HC, the only good GUI ffmpeg based player in the market, has a small userbase and is now defunct
>VLC, the worst GUI ffmpeg based player in the market, has the biggest userbase and is still alive, kicking, and getting constant donations and funding
Literally how? Is it word of mouth? Is it people going all "It plays my YIFI movies fine, so why change?"
VLC renders videos like shit, it seeks like shit, it's slower at everything. How the fuck is it so popular?
What do you think. 5 mins of checking it out and I see this.
Literally no one knows about MPV. All the normies eat up VLC, or at worst case scenario, use some shitty video player off of Google or Windows' default.
MPV is obscure as fuck, you're deluded if you believe otherwise.
change cache size you retard
Dead MPCHC >>>>>> VLC
Isn't MPC based on Microsoft shit from the 90s that even M$ itself abandoned years ago? And I don't mean the UX, though that's ancient as well.
Most people don't care about the tiniest details and before mpc-hc/mpv, they are already used to using VLC.
...
No, it just copied the look of the old Win98 player since it's simple and functional and improved on it.
Did you not read the fucking post, you dumbass?
>And I don't mean the UX
I'm obviously talking about the backend.
And i said no, it just copied the look and that's it. It's an ffmpeg based player (Embedded LAVFilter binary).
>Media Player Classic is primarily based on the DirectShow architecture and therefore automatically uses installed DirectShow decoding filters.
Sure, as fallback if you need old bullshit binary codecs no one has used in 20 years. But any real video? libavcodec will handle it.

How can anyone hate this? It's just hilariously cool feature! I'm literally crying right now.
t. PotPlayer scum
THEN WHY THE FUCK ISN*T IT UPDATE ING ON MY PC THE WEBSITE STILL SHOWS 2.2.8 AS THE LATEST VERSION
GAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
>Micropenis Wangblows
Problem found
tfw debian
PoTPlayer >>>>>>>>> VLC
>demuxers
you mean I can now rip the audio from my music DVDs and have flacs to play in my car? shweet.
Anyone tried the Chromecast support?
How does it work?
2.2.6 umbrella says its the latest for me...
Sup Forums, why should I care?
This, unironically.
/thread
Change the output to OpenGL, disable hardware decoding and this literally never happens
This is a blue board.
me replying to myself;
definitely faster on H.265 encoded HEVC files now. Very Nice.
Surround sound content can now be processed for spacialized stereo headphones using HRTF.
WHERE IS MY WIN64 BUILD????
I updated, VLC still annoys me since it does that thing where if you skip forward, there's a very slight delay before it resumes playing.
My phone doesn't do this, even the built in >Windows 10 player doesn't. Why does VLC?
the ONLY reason to use VLC is the A-B loop function
there was a last-minute bug in the X64 build. Should be up shortly
Wtf but I've been told countless times that VLC, unlike other players, doesn't need any configuration and just werks
>chromecast support
how do i block this? Chromecast is the gayest piece of shit ever. My parents bought one and there is no authentication required to play media on it. I accidentally clicked on the Chromecast button instead of the fullscreen button on Chrome once and it automatically started playing on the TV instead (Luckily this was a tech youtube video and not some degenerate porn like I usually stream)
gay piece of shit program
That would be K-Lite Standard.
>MPC-HC
>small userbase
It has something like half a billion downloads.
Are you retarded? VLC has some ridiculously extensive and flexible configuration options... though unlike certain garbage players (looking at you, darling of Sup Forums) they are actually exposed via the GUI so that you don't need to look up a fucking manual to find out how to change them
I would also like to know this.
>Not posting the changelog
>videolan.org
This is still shit compared to MPV
>installing major overhaul updates to complex software within fucking hours of it being pushed out
At least wait for 3.0.1, Jesus.
There's a lag when I increase and decrease the volume
Some people prefer having a video player that can play videos rather than needing to sit in a help thread for 6 months.
some people prefer having an installer rather than an inofficial compiled piece of shit from a random italian guy on github that could be filled with malware
I don't know from where this meme come from but MPV just works (vlc too but it's bloated with a shitty gui that add useless options)
> Using an installer
> Not using a package manager
> Muhhh windows .exe
>bloated with a shitty gui that add useless options
You are everything that's wrong with this world.
Try to block the outgoing internet traffic for VLC in the Windows firewall. After I blocked VLC, it can no longer discover Chromecast devices.
>tfw every program nowadays supports Chromecast so you have to disconnect the Ethernet cable to watch porn
>MPV just works
The presence of the help thread on Sup Forums says otherwise.

>no Mac help thread on Sup Forums. Claim checks out.

...
help threads for MPV are totally different than a stupid help thread, people are not asking help to play their files, they are asking some niches options/commands to satisfy their autistic needs (0.0001% better image quality or neat key-binds).
If you want to just play a file with MPV, it works as good as VLC or other video players.
And there are no help thread for MPC-HC because it's a dead software. :-)
