/glmg/ - GNU/Linux Minimalism General

This is a general for discussing minimal software for GNU/Linux and for helping you debloat your GNU/Linux system.

>What is software minimalism?

>Why software minimalism?
- Fewer bugs
- Better performance
- Lower memory footprint
- Better maintainability
- Higher scalability
- Longer software lifetime
- Prompt delivery

>Software minimalist standards
- Using a TUI when necessary
- Only using a window manager
- Using the terminal as a file manager

Protip: If you aren't proficient with GNU/Linux, this thread isn't for you.

you're a petty bitch who can't bear the fact that someone else took over this general and did a better job than you, eh?

sage

I'm running Void Linux with dwm.
Works excellently so far.
To get everything running I needed some bloat though.

it was my idea in the first place you pedo. Go back to your irc

yeah man. Minimalism is a good thing, too much of something is never good. I use firefox and i don't consider it bloat

hello newfriend, it seems like you misunderstand the concept of an anonymous imageboard. you see, here we use anonymity so that our egos don't get in the way of quality conversation. it doesn't matter who makes a thread as long as they are contributing positively to conversation.

which you aren't doing; you're just bitching over someone with different opinions than you

Noob here, can I use theme like Arc/Adapta without a DE?

yes, the theme will be effective in all GTK programs

To the other guy in the other thread.
This is the right format

>OS

>DE/WM

>Video/Music player

>Image viewer

>File Manager

>Text Editor

>Shell

>Web Browser

>Terminal

>newfriend
just wow. You are right. But still

Thanks.

I use a DE as well. I think your distro will automatically install the gtk3 package when you install firefox

stop
making
generals
for
everything

at least i don't force my generals to get to page 1.

not before there are 10 pages of generals

they really are forcing it

metageneral when

/glmg/ is bloat and was deprecated from the moment of its birth.

Use /fglt/

did stali linux die like the meme it was?
I wanted to fuck with it, but both it's site and it's page on suckless are missing.

Try and email the suckless founder, or the suckless team

I might stop.
If you can't beat them, let them suffer with their mental illnesses
