The old ones. If you're paying just get an older one.
Hey, OP! Get one of these!
youtube.com
The old ones are ass at battery life. Even with the huge batteries out the back.
Wow! What a computer!!
I have a T470 and an X1 Yoga 2nd gen, they are both really good, and have excellent battery life. And the X1 Carbon has even better, so go for that if u want the most.
Any performance issues with the T470? Heard some bad things about initialization and general sluggishness.
Holy shit!!!!
Beautiful
Stunning!!!!!
With windows 7, it works fast.
With windows 10, it's unusable, as every hardware is.
Got a t470 as well. Running manjaro with no issues. Great speed and battery life...
Using Win 10 Enterpsie on both, no issues at all.
Which DE?
Bullshit. I have a 9 cell and a battery slice on the bottom of my X220 and get nearly 20 hours per charge.
budget? lenovo, dell, hp? you are looking for some old crusty thinkpad or something high end?
We go through sooooo many lenovo's at work.
Battery life is garbage, all kinds of random hardware problems.
Thinkpad is good but X220 and T420 is a meme
Running it on win 10 and it’s fast af. Although I use Samsung SSD not the one that came with it
How much do you get without the battery slice? That thing adds like an inch of thickness so some people don't want to use it
elitebook, thinkpad or latitude
you can get a refurbished one of these for under 200 dollars on ebay
I get like 8 hours with browsers and music and shit
Why?
This
Get a X230 or a T430
Odd. Windows 10 Pro is significantly faster on my X220 and T440p than Windows 7 Pro.
X250 or X230?
Just get a MacBook Pro. You don’t want to waste valuable time on a piece of shit windows laptop.
I have a X260 and love it, if I'm just using Microsoft Office I get 18 hours with my upgraded battery.
Didn't use any previous Thinkpad keyboards, but I like the one on it.
Nobody in real business uses Apple unless they're either a) fresh college grad assholes, or b) people who are fuck awful at their job.
I get 9 hours on X220 and approx. 8 hours on the X200.
If you want a supr sekrit lyf hak, get an X200 with a dock. It has a battery charger built in where you can charge a battery without the laptop being present at all
Seriously, what laptop today can offer you to have 20 batteries with you? Battery runs dry, just hibernate, swap batteries, boot, from low bat to full bat in 90 seconds.
Show me how to charge modern batteries without the laptop present.
That's fucking stupid, you can as well fill your backpack with a pile of laptops and claim infinite battery life. Talking about battery life for >1kg devices doesn't even make sense, might as well take a portable diesel generator with you.
"slice battery" lol are you for real
Any recommendations for a more "modern" looking laptop that has a semi-decent GPU as well?
I have an old thinkpad I use as my daily driver so to speak, but I keep getting weird looks from clients when I pull it out for presentations. So far nobody has mentioned it but I know I do really need to switch to something a bit more sleek looking for when I'm wearing a suit.
apple macbook
hp spectre
microsoft surface
dell xps
lenovo yoga
all of those are rock solid, and so are many other flagships models.
do you have any particular requirements? laptops are basically a solved problem at this point.
i think the T470 looks nice. are there any problems with it?
got a T420 now but would like something a little slimmer with better battery life and a 1080p screen.
Nah, all I really need is a good CPU, decent GPU, an HDMI out, and for it to run Windows 10. Which basically anything "business class" should fulfill nowadays.
And of course it can't look like it's 20 years old and I just picked it up second hand on the cheap.
I'll look into some of those, thanks.
P L E B M A S T E R S
I think you might be exaggerating a bit, but I get around 10-11 hours of battery for normal use, assuming I am not compiling all the time (which is unfortunately not the case because of dependency bloat)
keep being poor lad.
windows has been reported fo get 20 hrs with the slice and 9 cell, but linux is shit with laptop batteries so thats likely why
Got a HP Probook 440 g4 a couple months ago. It's all plastic and the screen is shit, but gets the job done. idk how much will the 1080p panel affect battery life
Use a neutered Win10 (LTSB)
>keep being poor lad
So what you're saying is you qualify as category a)
Funny stuff
