Why isn't quodlibet the most popular audio player already?

why isn't quodlibet the most popular audio player already?

Last time I tried that program it was rather unstable and crashed as soon as I tried to play any opus files. Interface is a bit noisy and confused too.

>gstreamer
>python
>gtk

lollypop > your player

looks nice but too less configuration options

It's had some nice plugins and such but BLOAAATATATATAAT!!!!!

foobar2000 > lollicock
> your player

deadbeef and fb2k can play audio files directly in rar or zip files? can this player do this too?

cmus > foobar2k > lollypop

why the fuck

Because it looks like shit and doesn't have as many features as cantata.

it has more browsers than the one you usually see in screenshots by the way

why not? i don't have to extract first to preview songs in rar/zip.

much more actually

why not just mount an archive?

drag drop the archive to music player is faster for me.

Sure, but no proper album/artist cover library view that has actual smart sorting options. I didn't tag and autistically added covers to my collection to browse it in an archaic winamp library.

deadbeef is good for me

stop downloading scene release garbage

>year album
Please tell me this is customizable. If it is then it's basically just Facets for Foobar with less features. Facets is far superior to the ColumnsUI shit 99% of people associate with Foobar as it lets you fully setup a functional UI without autism-tier modifications in just a few minutes. The Foobar community (besides the Facets dev) is its own downfall for not embracing it. Literally over the past 3-5 years or so whenever I've lost my facets setups it takes 1-2 minutes to set back up. ColumnsUI is cancer and the reason I hate it so much is all of the time I wasted over the years. I probably discovered FB2K in 2008 or so and tried so many custom setups that were so fucking broken after hours of tweaking that I almost gave up. Facets is truly the straightforward UI I always wanted that works with the few extensions I actually need. Mind you, MusicBee is along the same paths, but far far more complex. Ultimately I gave that up and went back to FB2K with Facets as it actually is simpler. I just want a nice artist list with year/genre tags (adjustable as needed for sorting), album art, and a list of what songs are on whatever album I choose. MusicBee can do this but takes more tweaking to get it to feel the same. Though once you get it right it has more features. At the same time stuff like converting and importing music is more difficult.

tl;dr FB2K with Facets is simple and to the point and bests MusicBee for simplicity as actually adjusting anything in MusicBee is a huge mess. Stick to either of these options if Foobar columns UI themes give you cancer but I fully suggest FB2K with facets after years of trying all of these out.

not a scene release dude, jpop albums.

Never heard of facets before, I'll check it out.

just unpack them, jesus fuck having to load the archive into memory and spend cpu cycles decompressing it every time you want to play a song makes no sense

yes it is

actually you can sort pannels by any tag you want

this.

btw it can be even customized by sort of bb codes

What's your problem? if you prefer unpacking the archive then do it. My original question is only asking OP whether or not it could play archives files.

it can't out of the box, but I'm sure there is a plugin to do that

or you can write one on your own, it's just python after all

thanks for answering the question.

can it read custom tags and use them. for example if i had play count saved from another player can i transfer. i'd rather not have to restart.

it takes any tag you want it to take

ok so i downloaded it but it doesnt even see the majority of custom tags that were made in foobar or even clementine.
right click -> edit tag only shows the very basics.
right click -> info isn't much better either.
I know for a fact that these tags are created and they are stored on the file so why cant ql see them?

Cause it's GAYYYYYY

Because

it has the most retarded bespoke syntax for smart playlists/searches
shit like &(genre=blah,|(artist=blah, artist=blah)) wtf is this

This tbqhwyf. Even Electron based music players are better.

what a shitty taste in music. I am vomiting right now.

wow rude

Does it have volume control yet?

ncpmpnpcp maymay

Because `cmus` exists, and therefore there is no need for any other music players.

Clementine it is

I hear it spuriously connects to the internet even when the user has not configured it to use any internet services

mpd + ncmpcpp > cmus > foobar2k > lollypop

>pacman -S quodlibet

>a bunch of python library dependencies appear

I like python, but not in a project as big as a media player.

clementine is so overbloated it made me rethink the muh minimalism memes
