First PC bought with your own $

First computer you bought yourself? How long did you use it? pic related. Ended up using mine for a good 6 years before upgrades reached a dead end.

>pic related

yes op. we could tell.

bought one of these from my disabled vet neighbor when he had a yard sale. I think i used it for homework assignments for a few months (freshman in HS)

First one I bought is one I first built.
Intel Celeron 1.4 ghz
512mb ram, or maybe 1GB ( I dunno, been a long time)
20GB hdd
cd/rw drive
3dfx Voodoo 3 2000

who else emachines here?

cost 1500 I think. came with a mouse and backback. lasted 4 years because video card just burnt out, screen wouldnt come on.

Some Toshiba Satellite model in 2003 or 2004, I forget when exactly
Thicc like pic related

had some dual core socket 939 processor, an nvidia 6800gs, and 4gb of ram

>2001-2006
p4 1.5 ghz, 512 mb ram, geforce3

Had this 7 years ago costed me $700:
AMD phenom 1055t 2.8GHz
4gb ddr3 1333MHz
Some shitty mobo
550watt shitty psu
1tb hdd
GeForce Gts 450 gpu

Now I use a
5820k
Gtx 970
16gb ddr4 2666MHz
Evga psu 850watt
250gb Samsung 850 pro
And a wd caviar blue 1tb
Costed me $1700

I bought and asus that was like that. Thiccc and those fucking piece of shit hinges.

Fuck those hinges to death. Broke in under 2 years. Was like Bone Cancer. Also painfull to lug around. My defination of portable is if you can comfortably cycle around with it. It was not "portable"... my macbook air changed everything./

Amd sempron shitbucket. It made me so happy, I've become a snob.

Broke my ass at Burger King for a year to save up for a beast PC at age 16 in 1999.

It ended up getting seized within six months of buying it and I was arrested for "computer trespass"

Never saw that pc again. I am nostalgic for dial up days

>First computer you bought yourself?
Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2530, used as a store display unit, so without box etc in late 2007.

>How long did you use it?
10 years. I replaced it before christmas with a used Dell office refurb. Got meself a nice EIZO monitor in the deal too.

It still works but the last 10 years weren't easy for it and literally every-fucking-thing got slower. In 2007 with a driver hack that allowed it to run XP that machine was flying. By 2013 I was forced to switch to GNU/Linux. And the GPU has a bad case of coilwhine. I can hear the thing chirping when I scroll a webpage. At least I learned GNU/Linux enough to ditch Windows. If I was less considerate with my money I'd probably still be botnetting away.

First PC was in 2010. Other than the GPU which was a gift from bro, all bought from my "hard" earned monis.

AMD Athlon ii X2 250
ASUS M2N68AM SE2
500GB WD Green
Sapphire HD 5770 1GB
Thermaltake 500w PSU I forgot exact name
Random ass case I found outside my house which was "clean"

Could play A.V.A with good FPS so that was all that mattered.

I have never in my life bought a PC with $.

Fucking loved this pc and had a shit tone of fun with it. Still want to find a modern optiplex and stick a 1050 slim in it.

Celeron 450
4gb ram
180gb hard drive

Had fun with gta sa and cod 4.

I'm still using it. I built it in 2011. The only parts from the original build that are still in it are the heatsink, fans, WD Black HDD and the case. It's like an old friend at this point, it grew up along with me.

EMACHINES MAN

HOLY FUCK

Had a bunch of those when I was in high school. We got updated from these trash Pentium 3 machines with CRTs to these good boys with Core 2 Duos. A much needed update, they were actually usable.

Those of us in programming subjects got a room out of bounds to the normies with Core 2 Quads and it was magic.

I7 7700k with gtx1070 for $1200 also got a 1080 but too lazy to install
Before this I was using a computer my mom bought in 2007 that had a couple different cards in it over time ending with a gtx650

I bought a fixed-up Presario from some guy posting ads in the grocery store where I used to work, similar to pic related. I think he added some RAM and maybe swapped out the disc drive. It was terrible, but it was my first laptop. I think I used it for almost a year

This one.
Fell for the gaming laptop meme, never again, this little shit keeps falling apart.

An OptiPlex 755 SFF. For $20 it was a good computer and I still use it as a ghetto HTPC.

that masterful use of CRT technology

Some shitty Packard Bell when I was 18. It was an AMD K6 400mhz with 32mb ram and something like a 10gb hd, maybe smaller, can't remember. It ran Win98 SE.

this can't be real

Only good gaming laptops are fat 17” asus ones.

Why? The OEM video card has svideo out.

solid

Bought and assembled myself, 4 years and counting.
Before that, I had also bought the parts myself but I got an acquaintance to assemble it for me, used for 3 years or so before the psu died due to lightning.

I must say this is respectable even just for the aesthetics.

Dell Mini 9 Netbook. Installed OS X on it. Used it for just browsing, etc. I think the motherboard died and it would no longer boot.

For desktops it's actually my current computer, built in 2012. My previous one was from 2007 which was a gift. I use mine for gaming/photo editing/etc.. upgraded my GPU to a 1070 in 2016 (For ~$325...) and added another 8GB of RAM (to 16GiB) aroudn then too. I'll probably upgrade the CPU/MB/RAM maybe case sometime next year just our of boredom more than anything.

Thinkpad T420
> 2017 until now

O bought some accesories for it (Docking station. SSD, RAM) and I will make the T420 my desktop replacement

Some k6 shit

More interesting was next PC. I worked in a computer shop in the 90s. P2 300 oc to 450mhz. Fastest around back then. Did me all through uni. Only my friend had dual CPU similar so I was jelly.

Still running.

>Custom
>G3258 at its release

Before that i just used laptops and various shit, downloaded porn on my PSP from others wifi

Compaq persairo
pentuim 1 MMX 200Mhz
16MB ram
3gb hdd later
CDrom
Floppy drive
CRT screen

my upgrade for it where
756MB SIM ram hynix (with expander card)
10GB HDD maxtor

I had windows 95 and dos 3.9 on it so it was dual boot

it wasn't my fist pc ever but it did the job and i was happy with it for 10 years
I was still a console baby then so i didn't care up untill the last 2 years
so idk

some shitty hp pavilion laptop in 2014
It lasted until 2015, a month after the warranty ended, and just completely stopped working

the computer that im currently using. my previous computers were not bought they were built from parts that i got for free from recycling places.

With my OWN money?

>GTX 470
>AMD Phenom X6 1090T

Good times

>still on that 1090t
>content reaction image

i always got used desktops from my dad's work, never had to buy one until i moved out

first own desktop that i bought:
>FX-6100
>8gb RAM
>some cheap MSI mobo
>xfx 550w
>GTX 460 (used)
>60gb ssd
Have had bad expierence with Intel systems (old work desktops always had issues)

Before that
>first ever: Pentium 4 family laptop
>first own desktop: Athlon x2 3800+ w/ 8600gt

i still have that 3800+ system laying around here, i feel like i want to revive it but i dont know what to use it for

>laptop
Asus 1215B. used it only for 6 months because i want bigger display

>PC
I fell for mini ITX meme with G3220 and 750 Ti. kinda regret it

First one i bought myself, is the one i'm using now.

Phenom II x4 965BE, 8Gb ram, and later upgraded to 7870 GPU, even thou i built it under that golden age of pre-5000 series, remember the hype and memes?

First one i owned was an IBM i486, got it upgraded with more RAM so it could run windows 98. Then i got a Pentium III (some office machine, that i didn't enjoy, so i don't remember more) and then a Core 2 Duo Do More shit think.
