I have 4 years missing on my CV (mentally depressed, ssri finally made me stable) and I want to say I was working for a bankrupt company. I wont be claiming any new skills, just what I had before. Provide fake references from said company director as well. Will I make it Sup Forums?

Any better idea, that doesnt involve killing myself?

Yeah, just be honest OP. Say that you had personal issues. I spent 8 years completing a degree that should have taken me 4 years, but it's never been an issue for me.

Only brain dead children on Sup Forums will tell you that people pay attention to gaps in your CV, people just want to know if you're capable.

listen zorak, this will make your underlying relationship with your employer less honest and come back to disturb you or fuck you over.

it's a bad idea to lie on that scale, you should either be honest or say that you spent those 4 years on a personal sabbatical. it's okay to have some gaps IMO

also don't kill yourself that's nonsense m8!

Id love to be honest.. truly, but the realist in my says to cover it up as I am seen as an extra risk and rightfully so..

yes, that is true. I could say I worked on the family farm...

>you should either be honest or say that you spent those 4 years on a personal sabbatical. it's okay to have some gaps IMO
This. Gaps are no issue as long as you just explain them.

If you're going to be a realist, chances are you're going to fuck up and say something wrong some time, for example while drunk at a company party or something.

you don't need to tell these folks more than they need to know, you can just say you were traveling or doing odd jobs / on a mental health journey type thing. moreover, you don't need to include details, because they won't ask for them.

don't be ashamed and minimizing of your own struggle for those 4 years my man, you're here now rockin & polishing your CV. you don't owe any of these recruiters more than they need to know. don't jump through hoops and make up companies. best of luck brother.

This. "Travelling and a sabbatical" is more than sufficient and people will not ask for anymore details.

I have a 3 year gap for personal stuff. It's never been a problem for me as a developer. And being honest about it helps me take time off when I need it too.

guys i'm at the end of my rope, my wife's boyfriend said i wasn't able to redeem my good husband points next week because they're traveling to africa or something. what do?

Thank you... I really feel the love

5 years missing and I'm a post 30 kissless virgin loser
Beat that OP

I never completed a degree that should have taken me three years and I have the best job. Also would probably be able to get into B4, but I have the corporate.

How did you manage to bluff this?

Never too late to change. Start with something you can change today.

Well, at least you have a degree. I'm a 23 kissless virgin with 5 years missing. I'm truly fucked and should just end it.

Worked shitty jobs first, just to stay alive. Like really shitty, but with ok experience (like full stack and shit). Then started with a company that is not 100% software - which is bad, software wise, but lots of people appreciate what you do - had cool boss, now fulltime with above average salary in my country plus mad perks.

Tip: Have lots of things to show and talk about. Projects, Code, Books, Articles, whateva man, just push it.

I'm this close, after a huge effort to overcome my insecurities, to get my degree in CS but my supervising professor is a dick and he is ignoring
I've completed all courses it's just this
I have no one to talk to
I'm this close to killing myself
2 years wasted
Stupid life

Nah, world will be different when you will be 30. Lot's of opportunities ahead. Trust me m8

>Well, at least you have a degree
I don't
Dropped out of uni to work
Dropped out of work because social isolation
I should have killed myself when I was 19

Can you not just redo the project next year?
Well if you killed yourself you wouldnt have the opportunity for change you have right now.

And even if I had a degree I would still be a virgin
A 35 year old virgin
What's the point
I'm fucked up

Chill nigga. There is an ugly bitch waiting for you.

>Can you not just redo the project next year?
I don't know if I will be alive till Easter

so what if youre a virgin. priests are virgins, loads of others in society are. Youd be surprised. Sort the negative attitude and go do things other than thinking about your virginity.

Go walk 100 miles, camp outside, have a think.

Ok, stop listening to neets and retards
4 year gap NEVER looks good and theres no reason for it to be there, to draw attention and questions
you want to be faceless acceptable canditate, not that weird one with that unexplained gap

make up a lie, but theres likelihood that some info like payments to social and medical would show them that it was not coming from company X but from government or something, dunno really how the system works

just saying that lying is absolutely the best thing you can do, but its better done correctly without holes. And that is a hard part cuz regular person just dont know what HR can dig out on you when they look...

maybe try a different lie, how you worked on a project and it failed or something
people like people who take chances on success

Had an interview the other day and got asked what i've been doing the last 2 or 3 years, i was already prepared beforehand and told him some family business bullshit but i doubt it'll work, should've just said i was traveling abroad and doing odd jobs.
My neighbor was like 3 or 4 classes away from graduating as a dentist after many years, when he finally got a job and went down to the clinic he'd start shivering and having cold sweat, he couldn't bare putting his hands into someone's mouth, he now works the cash register at a gas station.

Yes, it will draw intense focus, and it will be 5 years by the time I am finished my postgrad.

>make up a lie, but theres likelihood that some >info like payments to social and medical would >show them that it was not coming from >company X but from government or something, >dunno really how the system works
Dont get you here. Do you mean if I show them my bank acc records? They wouldnt ask.

>and it will be 5 years by the time I am finished my postgrad.
huh? if you are in education there is no gap

well I guess it depends from country to country, but they might see some of your history just by being in a system where they deal with the government. Its not you who pay, its whoever pays for you to the government and for example if someone never had a job the company HR would need to approach that differently than if they already had a job and someone been paying their social security and medical.

Just saying that a company X emplyed you, and you really got company X as existing at that time then going bankrupt, and you got someone to give some fake reference... it might not be enough to be good story.

Easier probably would be to say that you went working abroad.

The gap is before my post grad.

Say you dropped out of work to become a full-time care-giver for a dying relative.

Its possible. I think family business is better. I own a big ass farm on the sly.

you worked abroad... case closed

at least here in eastern europe its common as smoking
if you are 18-30 you go to uk, ireland, norway, austria, germany, netherlands,.... for few months a year to get great money for manual labor or even better money if you are good at more fancy job but that would unwise to claim as there would be more paper trailer

good story is also that you went with your girlfriend at the time to that country and when you two break up you returned and went to school. but that info is given with further inquires, not straight as work history.

Actually I know two people who went to australia / new zealand because their significant other went, one girl seems to be doing fine in her story, though its just recent departure

the guy who went long ago, his gf was bipolar, thats why when she had her manic phase she was full of action and adventure and so they went from being comfy here, to being in new zealand in matter of week, she cuckeded him few weeks later, but he stayed there

Thanks. I like the moving with a gf idea.

Thanks all for the advice

Caring for child that died of cancer

I like it lol.................. Not brave enough to do that. Feels too immoral.

>you don't need to tell these folks more than they need to know
> "Travelling and a sabbatical"
this is what i would do. don't bring up health/mental issues cause its none of their business. i would just say something like sabbatical or took a break in career to pursue something else.

some hr and hiring managers are dicks about gaps, some aren't. just try your best mate.

Thanks man

bamp for more ideas.
