SSHD

Are these good Sup Forums? I'm thinking about getting one

nevermind i decided to get one. ignore this thread

I'll that as a yes.

SSDs are cheap as fuck now why would you bother with this hybrid crap?

Haha retrard, have you seen the failure rates on these things?

>Seagate

You can't choose where to save your shit.

The SSD part serves as a cache for the most used files.

its a fucking meme
you just got memed on so hard

Its only got like 2gb of ssd on it, the hdd circuitry decides what sectors you use most often and move them to the ssd to speed up their access.
Guess what you use most often.
answer: the fucking operating system and explorer.exe type shit
congrats, you see no gains. Also enjoy your failure rate.

Only good as a secondary hard drive. I use one to store games and programs, and they seems to faster than the old non-hybrid drive I was using

Actually bought one, didn't see any difference on performance, just a bit quieter

>answer: the fucking operating system and explorer.exe type shit

What else do you need an SSD for? Using some shit like Winblows 10 on an HDD is insufferably slow, and I have never owned or even used an SSD in my life, I can tell you from experience across a few systems.

Don't tell me you retards put your shit on an SSD for 10 seconds of less loading time or something.

The only thing bad about these SSHDs are the fail rates.

What about your dev tools?

>he's so poor that he can't afford multiple terabytes of SSDs

>he needs an ssd for vim and gcc

>I have never owned or even used an SSD in my life
>t. Chad data librarian

No. If all you paid for was the drive + a couple dollars more they'd be great. But last time I checked they're all priced so far over a regular hard drive that you can get a standard drive + 256GB SSD for the same price as a drive w/ 8GB flash.

>What else do you need an SSD for?
programs, in general

Seagate is not that bad actually. But still, I don't trust any HD nowadays.

>he's so poor that he bought multiple terabytes of SSDs instead of multiple petabytes of HDDs

to make gimp boot up instantly isntead of taking a full minute.
also the os is fucking huge. A windows install is over 60gb at this point. Even embedded windows, after updates, is almost 20gb. It obliterates the token ssd they put on that hdd.

nice, i got one in my new laptop as a main storage drive, have 128gb ssd for boot. there's definitely nothing wrong with them, only 8gb of ssd in mine so they're the either the same speed as normal hard drive or twice as fast.
.

Windows doesn't actually use every file. It's also under 20GB.

it uses a good bit of the files, and almost 20 IS under 20.

10 Home isn't embedded.
No Windows is close to 60GB.

>Get one
>Use Windows
>It just feels like a really fast hard drive because Windows is so huge that it is going to have to slow down something somewhere
>Moving Syncthing shares to other disks helps a lot with performance

At least it has a 5 year warranty.

What's the point? Just put OS and programs on SSD and video on HDD

where did I say 10? quit being a nigger and playing games with me.
Go install windows 7 and see how bloated your instal gets after a few days. if its full 7 it will bloat to 60gb and if its embedded it will bloat from 8gb to almost 20.

I really doubt they made windows 10 home smaller than windows embedded standard 7.

Just use bcachefs it will be faster, more reliable, and less chance of eating your data if the cache takes a dump.

I believe 7 misstates how large it is.

Just get a reputable 500GB or less depending on bugdet ssd such as the 850 EVO and don't be such a data hoarder on your laptop

>Haha retrard
>retrard

Oh, the irony...

Why not just get a SSD

I bought a 256gb crucial mx200 like 2 years ago for $90, shits perfectly fine if I don't store too much porn, don't need a HDD.

space used doesnt lie.

If you need a bit of extra speed and storage, sure.
Otherwise no. I got 2x 480GB SSDs in my thinkpad, it's amazing.

They're great for normies who are too dumb to manage a small SSD and dump all their data where ever
