anything it can do, dark web will do better
u guys r freakin dumb if u think im going to plug that shit into my computer
How the fuck are you supposed to search this shit site?
well in a no-route-to-host scenerio this is another option, it also works if you need to get files to someone without sending it over airwaves.
mitigation against USB based attacks is easy if you assume its malicious
>put usb killer in wall
>wait for hipsters to bring their flashy macbooks
>put files into images posted on 4chang
>instead of usb-s, put notes with stego keys into hollow rocks etc.
its not really hard to electrically isolate a USB port
I make those things but have them hooked up to mains and when that isnt an option I epoxy usbkillers into the wall.
Sat there and watched some fag fry a macbook a couple months ago. The look on his face was absolutely priceless
>mains
That could kill people lol
You think Mac fags know how to do that? kek
good thing its shielded then, huh
Yes, but very few laptops do.
Against 240V @ 15 amps?
Putting USB Optical Isolator into a search engine got me two right off the bat. The 40 USD one is rated for 2500 Vrms.
>Against 240V @ 15 amps?
and where are you going to source this power?
>240V @ 15 amps
>random stray brat discovers your drop
>either thinks it can be looted or just attracted to shiny metal objects
>touches the pins, fries
it's the kind of attention you don't wanna get
>r/w public storage
don't delude yourself it'll be erased within few hours
not really hard with proper optocoupler and crowbar circuit, its much more difficult if the voltage is higher
but then again I wouldnt really trust the content even if it was a real USB stick
>he puts it facing up in a shallow container
Welp that's never gonna get rained on and rust out. Good job idiot.
You guys know how USB killer works, right?
>Literal honeypot
Most Apple products are already protected.
USB killer works off negative voltage that USB ports are often not protected against. Takes 5v USB power and releases -200v trough the data pins. Well protected ports would be ok even at 200v through the data pins but only if the voltage is positive.
brb op
gonna smash it real good for you . :)
What is the point of this? What do people put on the drops?
>implying this is anything other than some long-long dead hipster art project
I want to make one. How do you get that thing in the wall?
from 120VAC? proofs or shut yourself
>source: my pozzed iToddler anus
wireless dead drops are infinitely better.
Mitigation against food-based attacks is easy if you assume that all food is malicious.
Read the guide idiot. You cover the drive in plumber's tape, find or make a hole in a wall, and set it in there with quick cement.
>What is over-voltage protection
>What is a USB extension lead
How do wifi dead drops work?
Isn't that illegal?
Interfering with the construction of someone elses' property?
Nothing cool is ever on them. But to be fair, I haven't left anything good either. I think it's the honey pot factor.
>I'll take "things that didn't happen" for $.01, Alex
>Waiting a whole month, sitting and watching a wall, hoping that someone will eventually fall into your USB port killer
>lel
Anyone that uses it should also use USB protection.
You could just do it in a place with little / no action, and set up a motion-activated camera.
Have to get caught first - unless you find a place where the masonry is already chipped, which isn't hard.
>let me just stick my laptop into some random USB port on the wall and start downloading some stranger's files
how the fuck did anyone think this was a good idea?
>Putting USB Optical Isolator into a search engine got me...
>Using a search engine
Compromise detected. Enjoy your jail time.
"I-I was just trying to prevent structural collapse."
see Pirate Box
Moot blocked images with embedded zip/rar and gookmoot never reversed the block. It's a pity, really - it was a fantastic way to share ebooks, source code, or small binaries within the confines of an ephemeral imageboard.
you can still do it, just not with a basic concatenation technique
>ephemeral
Lol Jason Scott has a complete archive dating back YEARS sitting on harddrive someone gave him but okay
...
a 2" x 1" x 1/2" hole is gonna cause a structural collapse???
BWAHAHAHAHAHAH
>approach usb sticking out of wall
>wiggle tinfoil in it
>if no explosion and building lights going out, its safe
wew, that was easy
And rbt.asia is archiving this thread right now.
This. Pirateboxes (piratebox.cc
>do this with a USB drive of cat related memes
went to get a picture from rbt today, and it was a dead link, only had the thumbnail
I'm sure the Soviets had a positive attitude before the meltdown too.
i wonder if theres much uptake on these in the UK? got a few places i can hide some.
How would you power them, mains? Solar?
The only one near me is at an elementary school's gate
Why would I risk getting USB AIDS when there's PirateBox?
>start hiding them
Already did that.
I put one in my college's cafeteria, in the beginning it was cool, it had textbooks, people would upload their recording of profs lectures, their lecture notes.
It was fine and dandy until assholes started uploading their revenge porn.
...
>It was fine and dandy until assholes started uploading their revenge porn.
Interesting. I would have expected someone to flood it with garbage or gore, but not that. Shows how users can always surprise you. What happened then?
congrats, you fried the usb controller
I wiped it all, left only the textbooks and the lecture notes.
added a "pending" message when someone upload something, nothing goes into public area until I approve it.
I found a few JB/CP on it as well, Revenge porn still get uploaded though.
>added a "pending" message when someone upload something, nothing goes into public area until I approve it.
Sounds sensible -- if you can check the uploads often enough. If you can't, I wonder if there is a free, self-hosted porn detector you can run. Automatically handling CP or just all porn would be a big concern if you made a box available to the public in a less controlled setting than a university.
>I wonder if there is a free, self-hosted porn detector you can run
I don't think there's enough power to do that.
I was thinking of making something like vola and have the files deleted after certain time, but I lack the intellect to do so.
The 3.0 usb killer bypasses lmao
>Mitigation against food-based attacks is easy if you assume that all food is delicious.
ftfy
It's up a bums ass and every time I get to it as it shows on the map, he is already gone
so it's shit
literary
That's awesome user. How are you powering it?
> It's up a bums ass and every time I get to it as it shows on the map, he is already gone
> he
I suggest you can lure that bum with sausages.
I'm using TP Link MR3040, it has built in battery so it can work when power is off, I've hid it inside the base of one of the florescent neon light in the cafeteria.
It uses custom index page as well, more normie friendly.
en.wikipedia.org
Mitigate this.
So you're the fucking faggot that has been destroying the ones near me. Go fuck yourself
How long does the battery last? Care to post the index page design?
about 5 hours, depending on the activity level, I'm using this with few UI tweaks.
github.com
That looks all right. Good job, Chris.
So you swap the batteries every 5 hours or do you have it connected to power.
Oh, I should have explained more, the box is connected to power with the light so when the light is off the battery last about 5 hours, and charge during the day when they turn it on.
I've set it up in the late 2016,and they couldn't find it.
I seen one, but thought it would be too unwieldy to hold my laptop up at shoulder level and access the bitch.
Why even bother? Seems like a hassle you don't need. This is like a purely white person thing desu? Like campfire sing-a-longs and gapped ears?
CP boxes won't last long.
>they couldn't find it
Did they try?
Yeah, they knew the device was in the cafe, but they thought it was either carried inside backpack or someone using their phone as an access point.
Humans only look for things between their knees and eyes.
You should feel proud of yourself, user. You are what /cyb/ wishes it was.
I don't know about that, I tried to take it out and hook it to high gain antenna.
But in my experiments I found it could pin-point the router location to few meters, and the battery couldn't last more than one hour.
I'm working on a way to get it working in a mesh network and cover the college grounds, but I'm failing miserably.
Cool shit, user. If it didn't necessarily compromise your OpSec, I'd tell you to get a blog. I'd read it.
After the revenge porn I don't think I'll ever get near it.
If you have questions ask away.
Why recently do have so many images a white line at the bottom?
this thread is so 2011
I'm overwherlmed with nostalgia.
literally the same OP pic had been posted, and of course the same replies
now I want silkroad back
...
I meant it more about the mesh network. What are you failing at with it?
Image botnet.
We've had this thread a few times over the years. This is much cooler than its usual incarnation, though, because we have an user who's actually deployed a PirateBox and got away with it.
>I tried to take it out
So your box is ogre?
Is that Bre Pettis? Ex-Makerbot guy?
most likely
