No. Why are they back?

money

If by excited you mean scared shitless then yes i'm very excited

same, i-it can't be any worse than second coming r-right??

Second Coming wasn't that bad.

No because now people I don't like are pretending to like them and pretending that knowing who the Stone Roses are means they are 'really in to music' :(

it's so hard being a britfag right user?

stone roses are the british nickelback

This year is being so fucking frightening.

>new Radiohead
I was scared as fuck
>new Slowdive
Scared as fuck
>New swans
Scared as fuck

And now the fucking stone roses. Why cant we have nice things all the time...

Serves you right for being a dullard who unironically likes the stone roses in the first place.

In many ways

:(

Where did I say I liked them? Oh yeah, I didn't. Good one mate

:(

youtube.com/watch?v=30c9A57YXFs

I love their first album and squires guitar playing

but check out what a fucking brick brain this twat is

Intended for you

:(

I Wanna Be Adored is their only good song prove me wrong u can't cunt

Why would Radiohead and Swans scare you? Both of those bands still put out great material.

Yeah but Tkol while still good, was kinda underwhelming for me, the same goes for Tmmb and Amok.

And in swans case, i fucking Loved Tbk, and gira releasing 2 minutes excerpts of 20minutes long song is starting to piss me off and worrying me

Not even their best song

FUCKING YES

but i kept listening to the album
>and then got the second
breaking into heaven is pretty god tier

Second Coming is great, though.

Don't Stop

yeah gotta agree with you there, great tune

>Second Coming wasn't a pretty good album
How is this meme still going after twenty years?

I'm hoping for the best but expecting disappointment.

So where do we get it? What time is it being released?

Can't wait for 'I Wanna Be Retired', lads. Think they'll use backup girl singers to back up that senescent croak?

maybe he'll just whisper like he did for fools gold and most of second coming

The Stone Roses have always been big

Very excited but also hesitant. I don't think the band's ability to write a good song has gone away, but as we're all aware, Ian's voice is even shittier than it was when they recorded the first album.

the key will be in how well they're able to hide that. They were able to do it back in the day, so if they can do it again, then we might still have hope

IKR I'm shitting myself if slowdive is bad may as well volunteer to go to Mars.

>the key will be in how well they're able to hide that.

have no fear user

they're not that desperate, I think

Buzzing my cunt off. Hoping for another Away Day anthem that would rival "Made of Stone", "I Wanna Be Adored" or "She Bangs The Drum"

prime stone roses were fucking good m8s

second coming is weak, few good choons

hopefully they don't shit the bed

Ian's vocals were shit by 1990 and gone by '95, I don't even know if I'll be able to sit through the whole track.

Surprised Sup Forums isn't kicking up more of a fuss over this. It's he first single in 21 years ffs

>2016
>still not liking second coming

About time. I remember in 2011 they were talking about making a new album.

Stone Roses aren't very well known outside the UK.

plus you can't rely on Sup Forums for anything. I made a thread about Ian hinting about the new album a while back and everyone just shrugged it off because they know Ian's voice is shit now

No. I watched them live in 2012 and Ian voice has pretty much gone to shit.
Making an album after all this time? What could they possible add new?

good jangle pop like they've always done is what they could add

You say that as if his live vocals were good to begin with.

They could maybe do a good job, but I'm pretty apprehensive about it. I think it's more likely they'll put out a polished NME-indie sounding record instead of something in the same vain as their self-titled. Then again, they've been trying to record something for about 4 or 5 years now, so for them to actually release something makes me hopeful it's because they've finally made something they like.

1 HOUR TILL RELEASE

Im eagerly awaiting but very apprehensive. It depends how in touch they are with modern music and if they have any modern influences incorporated into their own sound - I think the most critically acclaimed long running bands keep their ideas fresh. Out of touch bands rehashing ideas just doesn't work.

Nah, I doubt Neil will put out something bad.

Oh jeez, got tickets for the Etihad in a few weeks

I see your point, but I imagine that after the USA, a significant number of posters on Sup Forums would be Britfags

You'll have a great time anyway. Roses gigs are populated with drunk dads singing louder than the band.

If they pick up where they left off with fools gold / one love it could be pretty cool. Second coming was ok but not what was exciting about the band.

In reality Im expecting a generic rock song with good enough production to hide Ian's bad singing. It will be received well enough but just a complete flash in the pan.

How can they recreate that debut's magic when out of the game for so long?

Even the sound at their infamous "Spike Island" was supposed to be shit for alot. The wind supposedly took it

Listen to their Glasgow Green gig from 1990. Ian could sing if he wanted to.

Can you all answer me something. I love their debut but I don't understand this whole "baggy" sound that takes influence from dance music. Maybe a little in Fools Gold.

Did it more stem from a scene in Manchester at the time than the actual music? And a crossover of fans that enjoyed Stones Roses etc. as well as dance music...

plz halp.

Cheers lads, seen Ian Brown a fewfew times at Glastonbury over the years. I remember FEAR from 05 being a let-down in terms of vocals. Just gonna get fucking rekt on the train up and let rip

New Oasis single when?

On a serious note, I think this will spawn a whole bunch of Madchester and Britpop bands to release new tracks/albums .. Prepare for someone like Ocean Colour Scene to come out of the woodwork.

excited but nervous

>Ocean Colour Scene

nobody ever gave a real shit about bands of this kind

Meme opinion.

Second Coming is easily on par with the first album.

youtube.com/watch?v=skb6lVS35Jk

What about some of these bands :^)

About to be played on Rado 1 in a matter of moments

>Radio 1

dropped

>produced by brian epworth
fucking dropped

Radio 6 not radio 1 i heard aswell as radio X

wtf was that

Got Radio 6 on.. haven't heard it mentioned yet.

meh.

fuck I missed it cos i tuned into radio 6 you fucker!

well that was shite

You unironically, literally, just have to listen to two albums and some singles, m8

nout special, best part of the song was Squire shredding it up

will sound good live next month tho, can't wait for that

jesus that was terrible

we had our jimmys rustled bro. It was radio 1. I caught the last 10 seconds

Theyre dropping it again right now tho

I got rused too.

BRAVO TRIPFAG

>It depends how in touch they are with modern music
Why would you want them to take from modern music? I agree I don't want them to just re-hash what they've already done but they don't need to incorporate electronic influences or some shit to sound good.

its not on for another 2 minutes i'm listening to it on radio x

>radio 1
fucking shite

if i have to listen to fm radio, i just listen to rinse or the pirates lmfao

6 music is pretty quality tho but thats digital

>Radio 6 not radio 1
Hey fucking die I missed it because of you

radiox.co.uk/radio/

ONE MIN

Literally sounded like Oasis

that was... really underwhelming

It's not bad, just bland

ITS JUST STARTED

It sounds just like the wave of bands that came after the Stone Roses

It's a nice little Rock tune. Not great or extremely relevant but not bad either. I dig it.

Well that was about as meh as I expected it to be.

Ian doesn't sound as shit as I thought it would but he's still drowned in reverb to make him sound decent.

Well, I missed it

you didn't miss much

Yeah spot on mate. It'll be forgotten by all except Stones fans pretty quickly. It should sound pretty cool live (if the fans learn to sing it louder than Ian can)

The lyrics are not only incredibly repetitive, but also fucking hippie shite.

link la

Don't really "get it". Just sounds like a Stone Roses b-side.

Objectively this. It's not a BAD song. Just generic and nothing new. But it was fun and catchy just like Stone Roses always were. It had a more straightforward Rock sound too. Somehwere between Self Titled and Second Coming.

Sorry guise blame BBC

>will be released at 20:00
bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-36275003
>BBC 6 Music, Virgin Radio and X have all said they will play the record as soon as it is released.

>Don't really "get it".
It's a Pop Rock song. What's there to "get"?

Well for example, Bowie's last album he said even Death Grips influenced him. Now it didn't sound like Death Grips but because it was clear he took influences from current sounds his ideas stayed fresh.

Literally sounded like the same shit they always do. If you're a fan but act like this song is shit then you're just being a hypocrite.

As soon as i seen the length of the song at 3 mins on spotify i knew it wold be shite

Just like She Bangs the Drums and Sugar Spun Sister are shit?

Sounded fuck all like their first album

It's okay, but it sounds more like The Seahorses than the Roses
