Why doesn't it look like THAT by default?

Damn, XFCE™ looks like THAT??

KDE is the best for a student or someone at the office.

i3 for fun and shitposting

this

Dark themes can't be default because some apps doesn't support it well

What's your font hinting settings and is that Ubuntu Mono?

that's fuck ugly lol

Subjective

Noto sans with "vendor default" hinting, whatever the fuck that even means.
I just got that vm installed to check out the unstable neon builds.

Subjectively fucking ugly.

Try out Roboto fonts, they look great on KDE

I also confirm it looks like garbage

I'll give them a shot at some point. I'm playing around with the new blur effects atm.

good waifu, shit everything else

there's something about KDE's font rendering that triggers me, i always go back to Xubuntu (yes i'm one of those fags) because the font rendering is a bit better

lol you barely riced it

That's the good part about it

It's true, KDE default fonts aren't that great out of the box. But using Roboto with freetype2 and slight font hinting makes it far better than anything else I've seen other than MaxOS. Use this gist and adapt it to your distro.

This 2bh

That's the point, loser

That's the point. The defaults with the eyemelting white task bar are still shit tho.

wangblows 10

That is the point

Ew... Pajetier than it was before

holy shit that's so bad hahahaha

Why would you call something "ginger"?
Also pajeet-tier shit

Jealousy is not nice to observe. Save it for when you see how I riced muh gnome

it's an anagram of nigger

Usability >> nice looks.

dat RAM statistic hahahahaha
Pajeet-tier fucking hahahahahahaha
punani

What? Can you speak english?

KDE for the desktop
Xmonad for the laptop (touch pads are cancer)

oh shit is this default in kde 5.13?

No, the defaults look as shit as always.
There is a menu transparency slider in breeze widget settings now. Transparent menus seem to use the same blur that is used for the panels.
You can also make konsole background use the blur effect now.

...

...

>not posting the real one

When is 5.13 coming?

>black on black icons
fuck no, that setup is eww.

KDE may be the most feature rich DE, but cinnamon is the prettiest.

This looks great user, good job

I want to be alone in a locked room with this creature.

I'm not the guy who submitted the patches. I'm just fucking around with the Neon dev edition.

the year of the linux desktop

Damn, macOS looks like THAT?

Why KDE is the only desktop, that lags in my computer.

>Using anything other than XFCE

How's that bloat addiction coming on, user?

>not i3
>talking about bloat

lel

>xfce
>not a bloated mess
How's that bloat addiction coming on, user?

What i3 saves in ram it more than makes up for in autism.

>Having to use 40 keyboard shortcuts to take twice as long to do something.

Xfce is GTK3 bloat.

GTK3 ruined XFCE

This looks like shit desu

HE USES MANGINA !!!!!
LEL LE FUCKIN MEME

Unless you're specifically aiming to revive an ancient toaster, why would you be concerned with how heavy your DE is? On any relatively modern machine differences are insignificant, even Gnome is but a fraction of W10 desktop which everyone and their mom uses nowadays.

Disable system tray border.

source of crab wallpaper?

found it if someone liked it

Why it took so long to come up with blur effect? Or why it wasn't popular as it is now?
I remember transparency being a thing for at least past 10 years in lunix (operation system)

Hitagi from Bakenomogatari.

KDE 5 has always had a blur effect. It's just barely noticeable by default since the panel is white and a "background contrast" effect is also enabled, which makes transparent elements look almost opaque.
The blur in OP is an improved version which will come in the next version.

>2015+3
>TB hard drives
>worries about "bloat"

mfw

not her, but i use openbox with barely any packages on a piece of shit netbook off a 4GB usb stick. i do care about bloat.

>mfw
>no picture

How do I enable this blur shit?

my babe looks like that too

You can make the menus transparent in widget style settings. The blur effect used by panel, konsole and this shit is configured from desktop effects.

>unkonwn
>16.04 xenial

So basically everyone is having a good experience with linux while I am suffering with ugly font rendering on debian..

Screenfetch from 16.04 repos is so old that it doesn't recognize Neon.

I don't even know what good font rendering looks like since I'm so used to Win7.

Wallpaper please ?

>tfw kde has x3 the amount of dependencies and libraries at gnome-core

>Sup Forums still pretends gnome is bloated but hop on the plasma dick ride bandwagon

Damn, dwm like like that?
m.youtube.com/watch?v=lLFo5m5hyZ8

looks even better with Plastique window decorations OP

>package count is a good metric for bloat

>gnome is not bloated because it doesn't split itself into libraries that others can use

I don't get that meme. Who would want normies to use Linux? It's not that I want to keep it muh secret club, but I just don't care what most people use. I want to use Linux because I want to go deeper into my OS and (eventually) rule it instead of being ruled by it. I don't need other people to feel the same.

Who cares about packages. KDE uses less ram and the processor is less stressed because it's not programmed with diversity quotas in mind.
KDE is offering more and more features every release while using less and less resources. "AFuckingFoot" DE takes things away and hopes that some guy makes a js extension to fix it. And at the same time adds shit like gnome recipes.

And plastique widget theme.

...

funny

>bad vista clone with flat cartoon icons

Terrible

not really

I don't have that transparency tab

Is your compositor enabled?

yeah
What version do I need? 5.12?

Not sure sorry I don't use KDE anymore. I'm a different user but I just remembered that you need a compositor for it to work.

I think it is an experimental feature for 5.13

>How's that bloat addiction coming on, user?
Good on you for not having that file picker bloat addiction. How's your compositor addiction coming on by the way?

it's like I'm really running windows xp!

...

...

Noone bothered with improving the blur effect until a cool guy with some C++ skills came along who was fed up with the Windows 7 era blur style.

LXDE. Trust me, you will want moar.

looks best at 20%
