This is correct.
A study was done on this exact subject.

Lupe, Em, Logic, Rakim, Big(Pun, L and Notorious were all dope), Doom, Nas.

He sure has an impressive thesaurus

What kind of gay porn do you think he jerks it to Sup Forums? Traps? Black on white? MFM Cuck scenarios?

BDSM

in 2013 before Doris came out I told people I thought Earl Sweatshirt was a better lyricist than Jay Z they all got pissed at me

Kanye West.

>Reach for the stars so if you fall, you land on a cloud

Lane so iconic I literally live my life by it.

It's fucking Nas you mongs

Line*

i hope to god this is ironic

2Chainz, easy.
He just tells it like it is.
>"She got a big booty so I call her big booty"
I mean a lot of people say it's not impressive but his flow is really impeccable and he raps about things everyone can relate to.

WINDOE PAIN

>Who is the best lyricist when it comes to rappers?
it doesn't matter if there isn't a good producer, or if the rapper doesn't have good flow. Personally I think Kendrick has some of the best lyrics, he also has good vocals and flow as well as jazz influenced trap beat bangers in his stuff which makes it quite good.

Doris is his best album.

just started listening to him when Impossible Kid came out, so impressed with his lyrics.

Eminem, Pusha T, Biggie.

lyricism =/= big words/expansive vocabulary

It's about what you do with those words.

Niggas like Eyedea, Jay-Z (king of double/triple entendres), and Nas are top tier lyricists.

Pretty true. His lyricism has apparently surpassed that of Shakespeare himself.

People RAVE on about Jay Z but I just can't get into him for some reason. I've listened to the blue print and while it has some catchy bangers I just don't see why he's hailed as one of the GOAT. All I hear from him is how rich he is and how many chicks he's banged. I only really liked him in WTT and Kanye features.

>literally

so you literally reach for stars and fall and land on clouds?

It ain't about nothing, but let me hold something
Ate a lunchable for dinner, nigga I ain't fronting
Caught the bus to East land, just to walk around it
Ain't buy nothing nigga, just walked around it
Looked at some hoes, I ain't even holler
Cause I'm broke as fuck and they is all about a dollar

Ye stan here. He really did inspire me to not give a fuck what people think and do what you want.

Motherfucker, did he stutter?

Eastland is one word, it's a ghetto mall just outside of Detroit

Nas, Kendrick, J Cole, Joey Bada$$

Young Thug

pics or it didn't happen

>Reach for the stars so if you fall, you land on a cloud
More like "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars" - Norman Vincent Peale
Ye's line doesn't even make sense if you think about it.

Big Sean

2 Chainz

Either MF Doom, Daveed Diggs, Big L, Nas, or Talib Kweli

Idiot plebs. Black Thought and Andre 3000 are the only answers.

Everyone here sleeping on Pusha.

I'd say Warcloud

if eminem were black and died after the marshall mathers LP he would be respected just as much if not more than biggie and pac

wew

He would've had a huge legacy anyway. If he died after The Eminem Show though it'd be huge.

DUDE COCAINE LMAO

never fucked with the eminem show personally but i can respect that

DUDE I CAN'T COME UP WITH A REASONABLE DISCUSSION SO I SHIT POST INSTEAD.

Don't you like TES? Easily one of the best albums.

I've always seen slug as better at making singles than albums, the only album hear made that I like the whole way through is sad clown bad dub II, when life gives you lemons is probably second, but he just makes a lot of filler

My niggas

Nas and Joey are the only two respectable from here.

no mentions of GZA, truly pleb tastes Sup Forums

>Warhols all on the wall of the villa
>Adderall popping got me jumping to ceiling
>Perceived as a villian no sentiment in my sentence
>For instance in instants they'll be calling forensics
>If incidents occur remember these ain't just words
>Go from talking shit to organs preserved
>You soft serve rappers just hide behind your reverb
>And even without effects you'll end up dessert

Andre 3000, GZA, Doom,

DID THE MAN

kendrick can body joey easily, joey isn't even as good as capital

[Verse 1: Tonedeff]
>The streets kept coming and coming and coming
>He sped through his tracks
>And every scene he spied was all the same
>He kept running and running and running and never looked back
>He never realised how far he came
>And it didn’t matter that the latter part hadn’t bothered him
>Rather all the sadness that followed him, as if it was a ball and chain
>Because along the way his posture had changed, fraught with his fault and his anger
>Until he wouldn’t respond when they called his name
>It was all part of the game, it started as a play to get ends
>It left him with the breath of debt and less friends
>And yet he never questioned where the quest went
>And when dissenters didn’t deem him special
>He did his best to impress them and this led to regrets then
>Still he was dead-set on success, and distress
>He only expressed through a sent text
>Addressed to anyone he hadn’t met yet
>The tires peeled on desire’s wheels
>Again he said, I can feel...

>not figaro

[Verse 2: Tonedeff]
>The city had changed him as he reflected on the decade that passed
>His life, he reckoned at last, was a staged pun
>With a fantasy masked where the grave was dug
>A double life revamped and the other side bites till it tastes blood
>So he drives to escape driving a stake through his great love
>Incessantly trying to shine through the bars like a caged sun
>Dissecting a piece of the strange run
>With the dirty southern acres working for crumbs
>In some underground dank club
>Where there’s nothing but strained hugs from mother and father
>And a strange son because he can’t recall when he became one
>Though the shame is heavy and weighs tons
>He still finds a way to place blame on what they’ve done
>Visits they’ve stayed away from
>And perhaps it was that all along so he just carries on
>And he can barely call because the talks are rarely calm
>He wears his calluses like a tux to a daily prom
>Wearily feeling forever young until they play the song
>And his patient wife waits gracefully while he breaks the dawn
>Racing across the States to raise the stakes and cost to pay it off
>Debating cons of procreation on the hopes to trade it off
>A basic honest home relations, how’d they know it would take this long?
>But he placed his honour in the way he crawled
>All that means is he hits the floor harder from farther up in case he falls
>He’s racing towards the exit so disconnected
>He felt compelled to misdirect his perspective
>I can feel...

Rakim, eminem, kendrick, jcole, Andre 3000,

And you know what? Fuck it. Drake is on this list, too, if he's doing his MC shit.

>inspectah deck
>gza
>kendrick lamar

drake would get destroyed by any rapper that writes his own shit and can hold his own

gza

Eazy
Big L
Nas
KRS One

tru

Scarface

All you fags sleeping on Royce Da 5'9 like he's some candy ass rapper. Dude can really hold his own. Listen to Layers.
Also, Slaughterhouse can pretty much destroy anyone right now.

Yeah, he fucked up his legacy bigtime by not retiring after Eminem Show. He's a fucking terrible lyricist now.

Nas
I woke up early on my born day; I'm 20, it's a blessing
The essence of adolescence leaves my body, now I'm fresh
And, my physical frame is celebrated cause I made it
One quarter through life some Godly-like thing created
Got rhymes 365 days annual plus some
Load up the mic and bust one, cuss while I pus from
My skull cause it's pain in my brain vein, money maintain
Don't go against the grain, simple and plain
When I was young at this I used to do my thing hard
Robbin' foreigners, take they wallets, they jewels
And rip they green cards
Dipped to the projects flashing my quick cash
And got my first piece of ass smokin' blunts with hash
Now it's all about cash in abundance
Niggas I used to run with is rich or doing years in the hundreds
I switched my motto; instead of saying "fuck tomorrow"
That buck that bought a bottle could've struck the lotto
Once I stood on the block, loose cracks produce stacks
I cooked up and cut small pieces to get my loot back
Time is Illmatic, keep static like wool fabric
Pack a 4-matic to crack your whole cabbage

I wouldn't say terrible but he's definitely not a good lyricist anymore. He hasn't sunken as low as Kanye with the lyrics yet at least.

Listen to "Don't Front" and repeat what you just said.

>da na na na na na na na na na na na na
>fix your bent antenna tune it in and then im gonna
>enter up in under your skin like a splinter
>the center of attention, I'm back for the winter

ive been really impressed with this part from without me lately. he just delivers it completely natural. beyond method man levels of natural flow

It's bad for sure but for the most part he's lyrics are just 'meh' not terrible, at least for his newer shit.

But convince me you've heard
An MC since me who's this good with the fucking mincing of words
Without mincing words that'll make you feel like I'm pinching a nerve
Whose mentally disturbed, you might as well stick a knife in me and turn
It'll be like my skin being Indian burned
Hah, bitch there isn't one, when will you learn?
>Never been served if memory serves
>I'd battle that 'til my own recollection remembers these words

The last two lines tho. Damn

I have no idea if you're saying thats bad or not but that is alright actually, better than most the songs he has released in the past 5 years.

Nobody's sleeping on him, he is good, but not one of the greatest lyricists of all time tho

I'm saying that I agree with what you said. Some.of his new songs are really great, but most of them are meh. He hasn't lost his skills, but he doesn't have anything groundbreaking to talk about now. Everything that used to be funny back in like 2002 has been done to death by him and others. He should just release a final album with 5-6 good songs and retire for the sake of his legacy and to avoid becoming anymore of a meme.

He likely will.

Fair enough man, it would be better if he put all of his effort into making another Bad Meets Evil project, I don't think he would be able to make another solid album but with Royce there it could come out alright. The first one wasn't all that good so it wouldn't be too hard for them to top it

Yeah, the first one had a couple good songs. But no replay value according to me, which is true for most of his new stuff. Royce has just hit his peak though. He has consistently put of solid albums and it'll be interesting to see both of them at different stages of their careers, tryinf to outrap each other. Em is pretty much done at this point, but Royce has a lot left in him.

Lil Ugly Mane

I haven't heard that new Royce album yet, I've been meaning to but I've just been busy with other things. Is it better than Death is Certain?
