Avatar posting is against the rules.

why are rymfags obsessed with other peoples approval

We're not, we just like comparing other opinions with our own. Nothing anybody can say will change my opinion on music.

most 5.0s are nostalgia-core/marked me for life

So Far, So Good... So What! is criminally underrated, nice

Well, let's see, mine are:

Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs
Burzum - Hvis Lyset Tar Oss
Black Sabbath - Master Of Reality
Neutral Milk Hotel - In The Aeroplane Over The Sea
Can - Tago Mago
Death - Human
God Macabre - The Winterlong
Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand
Have A Nice Life - Deathconsciousness

Swedish Death Metal is best Death Metal

CHz a 5

Please explain your reasoning

Flips all my knobs. Samples that sound like they're coming from a schizophrenic television, warbly and lush textures, a bright and bittersweet sound with chaotic, yet organized layering, and all of the songs are incredibly catchy. The seamless transitions make it even better.

Took me a ton of repeated listens for me to love it as much as I do, maybe you could give it a relisten.

Be honest, how bad is it?

Whoopsie

Where'd you find a decent copy of out 1?

It's on Netflix.

WHAT! WHAT COUNTRY?

What are your feels on Boris' PINK?

>solo violin improvisations is not avantgarde,
yes it is

it should be on virtually every tracker now that it's been released in Europe and America but like the other user said its on US netflix

Avantgarde implies it brought something new.
It did nothing new.

>Ozu
My man

>It did nothing new
Lol

...

That's not necessarily what avant-garde is. While being innovative is part of it, it's more so about experimentation and pushing the norms of music. You wouldn't describe SVI as 'normal' even to someone fairly contitioned to avant garde music.

I just started using RYM, I've been gradually adding things I like.

Is Gloss Drop that much better than Mirrored?

They're both incredible albums. Most will say Mirrored is their best, but while I love it a lot, there's a few moments in it that don't shine as brightly as other highlights. Tij and Rainbow are fantastic tracks, while Bad Trails and the array of minute long tracks don't feel as great. Gloss Drop I love all around, but it took me years to love it as much as I do.

Listen to EP C/B EP, it's great as well.

Thanks for the rec, would you consider Battles indie rock or math rock? how do u feel about tracks like Atlas and Ddiamondd?

nikka

Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Alien, Phantom of the Opera and Bride of Frankenstein are all flawless, I feel.

That's why I do track ratings

Also, they vary. EP C/B EP is very math rock, Mirrored feels like experimental rock, Gloss Drop feels like art pop (most of the songs are in 4/4, John's just such a good drummer that it doesn't sound like it), I don't know what to call La Di Da Di. I definitely wouldn't call them indie though, I'm not even a fan of that term, it's become so overused.

Indie is the alternative of today. It's a blanket term that doesn't have any meaning.

Pretty much

When I finish my album and I put it on RYM, downvote any genre proposals with the word indie in it please
