Gnome devs refused the patches for years. Now they refuse them because 'GTK2 doesn't get feature updates anymore'. Maybe Gnomecucks will get file picker icons in GTK4.. although you'll lose other features for sure.

it might not be buggy now, but it certainly will be. as it's not mainlined, you rely on the goodwill of the patch writer to keep up with gtk releases (and gtk devs really, really like breaking shit even on minor releases).
