Who is the David Lynch of music?
Who is the David Lynch of music?
Jason Aldean
Beefheart, since TMR is Lynch's favorite album.
...
david lynch makes music too
This is just the Beefheart of post 2000
David Lynch
beefheart
they both make media to be consumed by quirky teenagers and poseurs who say the shit is so deep but it actually doesn't mean anything and it's just weird for weirdness sake
...
Who are band 4 and 5 and director 5
That chart implies muse > queen
It also implies Kubrick is boring.
You must think you're really cool and insightful for typing that.
you must think you're really special for watching david lynch movies
>muse > queen
Well, both nolan and bay are shit.
>David Lynch
The Residents
>Stanley Kubrick
My Bloody Valentine
>Christopher Nolan
Foo Fighters
>Wes Anderson
Animal Collective
>Steven Spielberg
The Eagles
>Nicholas Wending Refn
Death Grips
Nah.
Bay had a couple good movies in the 90's.
Nothing intellectual but enjoyable.
The Rock likely being the best.
Nolan is a pretty good director, he isn't the god he would have people believe he is by any means, but his films are all pretty decent. Despite its shortcomings I still love interstellar.
His worst film is also the one that gets memed to death.

>implying anyone's music is more Lynchian than Lynch's (or Badalamenti's)
>David Lynch
>The Residents
Not even close.
The rest are even worse
>Wes Anderson
>Animal Collective
Spot fucking on
What's wrong with Nolan again?
>Nolan is shit
Nolan is a terrible director and a terrible writer. The only reason he is that well known and liked is because his films are visually impressive and that he manages to create worlds and stories a bit more complex than the usual blockbuster.
David Lynch is. Come on now.
Sooooo, glad, you're gone...
Einsturzende neubauten, talk talk, ingest Bergman
Unpopular opinion, but I really don't get Memento. I found it really dull and have tried watching it two separate times, each time I turned it off after about 45 minutes. Dark Knight is still my favorite Nolan film, and I fully recognize Heath Ledger makes that movie anything above average. Although I do like some of the shots and cinematography, especially the way the bank heist scene was shot
Blue Oyster Cult
>Unpopular opinion, but I really don't get Memento.
it's my favorite movie of all time, so i don't think i can explain anything
its not hard to get, so you probably didnt get it
This pretty much.
so you probably didn't like it*
whoopsie there
I didn't mean I don't understand the premise of the movie, I just meant I don't get all the praise for it. I could give it a third chance...
Nolan's films are not visually impressive at all though. His cinematography, use of colors, etc. are very bland and dull.
i fixed the part where you didn't get it
i just love the nonlinear storytelling of the film
i love how a story narrated from end to start can keep you more exciting than if it were to happen in reverse
im not saying its the best movie or nolan is the best director, but hes more likely to be the "best" than be "terrible"
You mean you didn't even finish the movie?
There's not much to get, what makes it great is that even though the story is being told in reverse and you already know how it ends from the character's point of view (or so you think) the movie still manages to reveal new information and surprise you all the way until the very end (of the physical movie), which is impressive and innovative storytelling.
Finish the movie this time.
What did you guys think of Lynch's musical output?
IMHO The Big Dream was enjoyable
all wrong
David lynch
Can
Stanely kubrick
VU
Christopher Nolan
something sinister and edgy I will go with linkin park
Wes anderson
Devo
Spielberg
The beatles
Nicholas Wending Refn
Primus
Quentin tarantino
shellac
The answer is really obvious
>bland and dull.
Thats subjective. On a technical level his films are pretty good. But illl agree with you that the cinematography is nothing remarkable
Excluding Kubric/VU, this is just as bad
>Nolan
>Sinister and edgy
>Spielberg
>The Beatles
Michael Gira
>Paul Thomas Anderson
Radiohead
>Gaspar Noe
Aphex Twin
>Quentin Tarantino
Kanye West
>George Lucas
Nirvana
started out anti-establishment, then became the establishment
I'm not super big into him but I think The Air is on Fire is decent.
David Lynch
>lynch
makes crazy movies that dont fall into a specific genre, can makes crazy music that doesnt fall into a specific genre (inb4 krautrock)
>Nolan
makes pretentious movies that 16 year old hail as genius. Linkin park makes music for 16 year olds
>Spielberg
super mainstream movies for the entire family. The beatles make super mainstream music for the entire family
>wes anderson
crazy and funny just like devo
>nicholas wendig refn
bronson reminds me of primus. The story is so absurd it could be the lyrics for a typical primus song. Manly, crazy and a bit funny
>Quentin tarantino
doesnt follow laws of filmmaking and likes chaos. Shellac is noisy and chaotic as well
Wes Anderson is the Kinks, bro.
>moving the goalposts
Lucas was anti-establishment to the end
he established himself so he could make the movies he wanted and not the movies some perceived idea of an audience wanted
Coil
>pic related
>Wes Anderson
>Animal Collective
Well shit, those are probably my favorites out of their respective mediums.
Although Tarkovsky is objectively better, but Anderson movies are so comfy
Ignore the bait.
>no one's mentioned this crazy bastard
le meme face
radiohead is obviously paul thomas anderson
Are all of you literally fucking retarded?
It's Julee Cruise.
Dream pop is David Lynch's favorite genre.
>Wes Anderson
More like Wes Craven, idiots.
>Christopher Nolan
>Foo Fighters
he make big $s
>both are basic as fuck
>both appeal to pretentious teens who think it's deep
>both are pretty bland and boring if you actually develop and refine your taste
Who is the Martin Scorsese of music?
keep living in your safe space where every differing opinion is "bait"
Bruce Springsteen
I will as soon as you invite me into the world where Beefheart and Lynch are only enjoyed by teenagers and "posers".
watch any video of lynch trying to defend his works when asked what their meaning is
he literally dodges the question every time
the man is a hack
beefheart too lol
He's literally just making his dreams dude, chill out.
>meaning
do you even know what surrealism is?
I wonder does he know what art is first of all.
...
You must think you're really special for talking down to people who watch Lynch movies.
>do you even know what surrealism is?
do you?
>not explaining your work to a bunch of dumb fucking plebs = hack
do you listen to the residents? or watch david lynch? come on man.
ITT:
you
but
you
hamster,!
AC are too chaotic to be wes anderson. Watch ODDSAC or listen to anything pre sung tongs and this should be obvious
>kubrick = radiohead
ahahaahaaa no
Uh..David Lynch?
in your dreams!!! fuckin cunt plebeyan faggot
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is the most Animal Collective film I've watched that isn't ODDSAC.
Wes and Avey both share a love for innocence
No one thinks Foo Fighters is deep.
Björk
it's David Lynch, he's definitely the David Lynch of music
Yes, do you? The residents have a more art brut, ironic or dadaist approach while Lynch films are surrealist and talk about the hidden ugliness of the world.
You are only comparing both because you think that both are "lol so randum" but their art is totally different
no , his films dont sound like this
Rihanna
David Lynch
Honestly AC is closer to David Lynch than Wes Anderson. Avey is a pretty big fan of Lynch.
Wes Anderson isn't animal collective, Wes Anderson is this album and the Kinks
The Microphones
I only recognize two of those directors and three of those bands.
>Beatles
>Queen
>Radiohead who I only recognize by Yorke
>???
>???
>???
>Spielberg
>???
>Kubrick
>???
>???

Daily reminder that Marilyn Manson killed Keanu Reeves' fiancee, and that Mulholland Drive was David Lynch's attempt at telling the American people.
>not being able to recognize bergman
holy shit
HOLY
SHIT
Don't trust anyone. Not even David Lynch
Me bungle fits pretty well, with the crazy non genre music. I guess david lynch is better but California sounds like it could be the soundtrack to one of his movies.
Don't worry Manson got into drugs and killed his own career shortly afterwards.

Honestly SWANS is a pretty good parallel.
>Really abrasive stuff at the beginning
