"We felt we had to change everything. There were other guitar bands out there trying to do similar things. We had to move on."
Are they getting stuck again?

Stuck as what? I think they on In Rainbows and AMSP they sound really comfortable with what they're doing.
As in repeating themselves, which goes against what made possible the creation of their best album yet.
He's not saying they were repeating themselves, though. He's saying
>There were other guitar bands out there trying to do similar things
Are there lots of things similar to AMSP out there?
Yes? This is the era of eletronic music, more than ever. You could argue that none sounds like AMSP, the same way i could argue none sound like OC back in the day. Still, they were tired of their sound
>OK Computer had turned us into a one-trick band.
Except these guys' best tracks use guitar work. Bodysnatchers was a fucking masterpiece.
What is Bruce Willis doing with a guitar?
This is just bullshit.
There is no musical progress here.
Radiohead have already done it all. In terms of genre expansion, they basically shot their entire wad on Kid A and Amnesiac.
There has not been any progress beyond there because there cannot *BE* any more progress beyond there.
They've already combined chamber music and synths and ambient and musique concrete and sampling and drone with rock music.
It's done.
Radiohead is done. Music is done. There is no more genre expansion anymore. It is all done. There is literally nowhere to go. The jig is up.
Ok, one can disagree with some of the things you say, but anyway electronic music wasn't even new at that point, Radiohead quotes Krautrock as one of their biggest influence.
What i mean here is that Radiohead had everything as a rock band, and their direction change was huge, we may not see Radiohead as we see them today if it wasn't because of that change.
It is not just the eletronics elements by itself, but the change. Someone mentioned in another thread that Radiohead is well known for playing music 'outside' their comfort space, but after more than a decade this style of music is now their comfort space.
He released some blues rock albums
Noise music.
How can you say that there is no more genre expansion? That's like saying you know for a fact there is only one universe. I get that you lack any musical talent, so you have to sit and wait for someone else to create a new genre. It just takes time user, maybe find a hobby while you wait? Also stop saying dumb shit online, people like you give me cancer.
pls do not talk about the life of bruno you are triggering me
This is tongue in cheek right? Because no one person could actually be this fucking retarded.
If you guys could tell me one fucking innovative song that was made in the last 5 years, that might help you not to look as stupid as you look right now.
Pro tip: you won't fucking find one. Every song you point out I will be able to find something that is largely similar to it.
You could do that in 2000, or 2005. You can 't now.
This seems like a ploy, no matter what anybody posts you'll post something vaguely similar and say LOOK ITS THE EXACT SAME THING! I can't help that you don't recognize that all art is a continuum, and that things are always evolving. That being said, youtube.com
youtube.com
Gimme something harder next time.
Death Grips are just a Saul Williams rip off.
You don't hear a difference between those two tracks?
Wow, it's almost like art is derivative.
I think you're just short sighted. You could easily point at aphex twin and say Kid A was unoriginal. Just because genre mixing has happened doesn't mean that there are no stones left unturned. It's actually easy. How about slowed down free jazz with pitched up spoken word and trap beats? How about classical music played backwards with noise and hocketing female vocalists? How about glitch rock with a violin soloist and industrial noise samples for purcussion? How about chiptunes with beatboxing juxtaposed with nursery rhyme interludes? All you have to do is approach things from the high-concept and you can pretty quickly find something that hasn't quite been done before, even if it has roots in other places.
>There has not been any progress beyond there
I mean, AMSP sounds nothing like Amnesiac or anything that came before it. It's pretty orchestral and jammy
Radiohead should make a dance punk album.
want thm and the lads to do an experimental shoegaze album
