I love my iMac g5 laptop and desktop more than anything else, but the tech is finally dying on me. (Facebook loads a a mobile page and other weird quirks.)
Is it possible to just load the guts of a smaller more modern laptop into both? Windows would even be fine. Any suggestions on models to look into? There is a ton of space in both of these things since the frames are huge.
>Electric cars use gas, right? It's called a G5 because it uses a PowerPC G5 CPU.
Colton White
Sorry for not following your crappy computers. There's a Debian port for Power PC anyway. Just make sure you ask Apple's permission before you install it.
Ayden Martinez
PowerPC is more than Applel, if you were around for the x86 vs PPC autism you would remember, that's why you couldn't install Windows on a Mac for a long time. Caused a lot of headache when you had to work with a macfag on something that only ran on x86
Gabriel Williams
I know what AIM is, faggot. That's why I said to use the Debian Power PC port. I don't care about Windows, it doesn't even factor in to this conversation. The reason I said you need Apple's permission is because of their DRM. >PowerPC is more than Applel, if you were around for the x86 vs PPC autism you would remember, that's why you couldn't install Windows on a Mac for a long time The reason you couldn't install Wangblows on an Imac is because of IBM and Motorola? That doesn't make sense. It was because the architecture was different.

Install virtualbox install a modern linux use "fluid" mode so the linux browser runs as a native application enjoy

>my iMac g5 laptop and desktop There are no G5 laptops. The iMac is a desktop.
>Facebook Retard.
>Is it possible to just load the guts of a smaller more modern laptop into both? No. You're too stupid for this sort of thing.
No, retard.
>The reason I said you need Apple's permission is because of their DRM Oh look, another brainlet. You can boot and install Debian on nearly an PPC Mac with no firmware modifications and there's no DRM to bypass. They use OpenFirmware which can be accessed by holding certain keys at boot. Debian gets compiled for a bunch of architectures including PPC, so it'll run natively on a G5.
>The reason you couldn't install Wangblows on an Imac is because of IBM and Motorola? That doesn't make sense. It was because the architecture was different. Congratulations! You solved the puzzle! Stupid faggot.

Yet you continue to post Voyaks you didn't even make.

Sure, but it's kind of boring and takes a lot of work to do it right since you'll need to re-route the I/O. I'd just evaluate it with a different browser or change its user agent string, Floodgap browsers seem to be trying to target the mobile web now since they believe that's probably the better way to go on PPC Macs. It boggles my mind how much of a fucking idiot you are. Why do you even post here?
Brandon Clark
>Yet you continue to post Voyaks you didn't even make. Wrong. That one was OC, and so is this one.
Jordan Miller
Post two things I said that were incorrect, goblin.

Yet you cut and pasted assets made by others. How is that original content?
>Yet you cut and pasted assets made by others. How is that original content? You're posting in a language that you didn't make on an image board that you didn't make from a device you didn't make running software you didn't just so that you can tell me what I did and did not make while also sitting in a chair you didn't make that sits on a floor you didn't make inside of a house that you didn't make. Your house that you didn't make is in a city you didn't make, which is in a country you didn't make, on a small blue orb (which you didn't make) that's revolving around a star you didn't make in an infinite universe that you also did not make.
You're fucking worthless. Opinion discarded.

You literally came into this thread not knowing what a G5 was, and got incredibly defensive and butthurt when you got called out for it, now you're babbling on about some imaginary "DRM" on PPC systems (because like most other feeble-minded dumbshit Sup Forums migrants you can't distinguish between Macs and iOS devices) that for some reason prevents OpenBoot from booting certain operating systems without "asking permission" from Apple, who couldn't give less of a fuck if you want to run some irrelevant BSD or GNU/Linux distribution on your system.
In other words, shut the fuck up and stop posting while the adults have a conversation about things they understand better than you.

Why not just get a early intel iMac? They look almost the same

So you can't name two things? You could have just said that you're mad about your precious Imac being disparaged. Apple did have DRM on all operating systems that run on the Imac G5. So you're wrong there. It is far from imaginary. But, hey, if it makes you feel better, kiddo, I'll give you the first one. How does that sound? Good boy.
Ethan Lee
Utterly illiterate fucking idiot. Did you want a bulleted list or do you need me to number it to help you count? I'm not giving you any more attention, you don't deserve it.

Way to dodge everything, you retard. Now that you're backed into a corner, being forced to admit you were wrong, you want to scamper off like the scared little worm that you are. Laughable how easy it is to make you squirm.

Hey, I'm the guy who originally pointed out that you didn't know what a G5 was. Here's a list of 2 things you didn't know. >You don't need to call Apple to install GNU/Linux on a g5, and it's pretty easy to do so as II have done it >That a G5 runs on a completely different architecture I have literally never purchased an Apple product in my life and I know these things.
Christopher Jenkins
>You don't need to call Apple to install GNU/Linux on a g5 I never claimed that. I said the Imac has DRM with the default OS. That is true.
Alexander Clark
>Just make sure you ask Apple's permission before you install it
Easton Moore
Yes. How did you get "call Apple" out of that?
Leo Cook
>Ask Apple's permission How else, a letter?

It's a turn of phrase, you oblivious twit. Do you legitimately have aspergers? You sound like a fucking idiot graspingat straws.

Get a 2007 iMac and max out it's ram and put an ssd in it.
I've bought one yesterday for 30 quid, the hdd was fucked. I've replaced it with a 120gb ssd I had around, loaded os x 10.8 on it and now it works beautifully.
Christopher Gomez
How is the OS having DRM in the sense that Windows does relevant to the discussion? You went into the thread without a basic understanding of what OP was talking about.
